Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned … especially a dead one holding a grudge.
Back on Deadwood’s list of Usual Suspects, Violet Parker is hip deep in wild frights and fired-up females. After juggling bitter threats, haunted buildings, and vengeful ghosts, the last thing she needs is a pair of bullheaded detectives trying to pin another murder on her tail.
Can Violet find the real killer … find the real killer before she ends up behind bars? Or worse, on a slab at the morgue.

My yearly must read series on our trip to the Black Hills, South Dakota. I love reading about Deadwood and Lead while driving around in the area. Unfortunately we are always a few days early or late for Ann Charles’ yearly visit in Deadwood. I would love to meet her and hopefully get her autograph 🙂
The characters are so much fun and as always there are several opportunities for a good laugh but also some very creepy experiences. The smartypants remark fights between Violet and Inspector Hawke are hilarious.
Each ghost/creep/monster mystery is solved within the book but there is so much background story and connections that keep evolving from book to book that I recommend to start with the first book in the series and to read in order. (The first one is still my absolute favourite…)
Loved it
Fun series. I started reading her books when they were set in Arizona. Those are also fun to read.
love this series!!!
I’ve read all the Deadwood books and enjoyed all of them. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed
I’ve read most of the Deadwood series and have really enjoyed it
. It’s fun but it still holds my interest. I just enjoy reading it.
Ann Charles is sooooo funny. I love her books and wonder what she is like in real life.
This was a fun series.
“Boots” and her sidekicks are entertaining as they confront bad characters on both sides of the spiritual divide.
The Deadwood Series is frisky, weird, funny, sexy, supernatural AND yes, creepy – in all the right ways. The characters are crisp and well differentiated, and the mystery twists and turns. All in all, a fast and satisfying fun read.
This is my fault. I didn’t realize this was not a stand alone book. I knew it was part of a series, but figured I would be okay just reading the one and seeing if I wanted to read the rest.
I was so lost. I had no idea what was going on or why. Some of the dialogue was funny, but not funny enough to make up for having no idea what was happening.
And, possibly, Violet should invest in a BOB. Not sure exactly what her job is supposed to be, but if she spent a little less time fantasizing about Doc she would probably accomplish more.
Maybe if I had read the first six books I would have thought this book was a hoot. But, I haven’t, and so, I didn’t. The book didn’t even make me want to read the first six. I was just glad it was over. Oh, yeah. To be continued.
