Loved this book and the next in the series! They are captivating and exciting! Well worth reading, you will be hooked on her characters for sure! working on the 3rd in the series and it is just as good!
This book was slow going for me. I put this book down numerous times and that is not something I usually do. There were parts that I felt really could have been left out because they were repetitive and kept the plot from moving forward. This whole story, I swear was just the three of them sitting in this cottage. The story is going . . . The plot is leading to . . . I really don’t know. It had potential in the beginning when Cora was running from assassins but when they got to the cottage, it all kinda stalled. It even left with a horrible cliffhanger. Not even a ‘Bomom bom bom’ kind of Cliffie, but a ‘WTF’ does that mean? Overall, it’s not enough for mean to continue on my interest to find out what happens.

Cora, sweet Cora. Wanting nothing more than to escape her past (the life she lived, poor and alone). When she met her husband she couldn’t believe he wanted her, her out of everyone/anyone he could have. The attraction was there in the very beginning it was strong and she knew she cared for him but he has pulled back. Wanting to surprise her husband and maybe spice up their love life she shows up at work in a sexy outfit. Once there all hell breaks loose.
Mace was assigned to this case, he was watching Winston and his wife Cora. Cora had grabbed his attention for more reasons than he would like to admit. When he realizes that she is sitting here in front of him as he was watching her husband, it upsets him. Mace and Cora wind up running, for both their lives. Someone wants her dead, yet we don’t know who or why. Mace discovers a lot about Cora as Cora discovers a lot about herself and her past. A lot of things she never knew. I can not wait to learn more of her past and what it means now.
Knox, oh Knox. You bad vampire! I am intrigued with him though. I’m wondering, is he good or bad? Does he know more than Mace and Cora? Who is the mystery woman? This story had me all wrapped up in it, book hangover for sure! I haven’t had one of these reads in awhile. I want more!!! Left me hanging but it’s all good…..This is everything I love in paranormal romance read…..vampires, witches and ghosts oh my!!!!
Go get lost in this book tonight!!
It the beginning of this book, I really enjoyed it. I liked the character of Cora. I could understand her and her fears. Even when she was being frustrating, I could understand and give her a pass. I saw the fight in her but also knowing what she needs to do in order to survive. At times I thought she was funny.
I really liked the character of Mason. He was a vampire but yet he tried so hard to gain Cora’s trust. Once he knew her reasons, he tried even harder. He was a protector and had a soft spot for Cora.
I liked them as a couple. They were both hot and sweet at the same time. However, when Knox entered the picture I started to dislike everyone. I didn’t like the bond angle that was put over them. Mason became a jealous lap dog and there was no redeemable qualities about Knox.
First I will say, and this might have been my fault. I didn’t know that this book ended in a cliffhanger, otherwise I wouldn’t have read it. Towards the end of the book, it just seemed like everyone was acting out of character and more things were being thrown at them without a whole lot of explanation. My guess is this is what will be talked about in book 2.
Interesting steamy paranormal romance. Coraline’s life turns upside down and the one that helps her is Vampire Masone. Coraline and Masone finde refuge with another Vampire-Knox. In the book happens a lot of unexpected things and some shocking things are revealed. I hate it that it ends with a cliffhanger. There are so many things left unspoken and unsolved. Caroline is an interesting character, I hade a feeling that she couldn’t determine her feelings toward Mason and don’t forget there is Knox. In which way the story will go is to see in another book.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
DNF 69%
This book started strong but as it went on and more characters were introduced I started to lose interest. We started with the plot of a missing vampire which was a good solid plot but I feel that it was forgotten about shortly after Mace and Cora left the city. After that there was so much going on with her blood, the bond, other vampires that I just keep wondering what was going on.
I think the concept of this was interesting. But it needs to be fleshed out a bit more before it can be successful, at least for me.

Wicked Hunger by Kiersten Fay is a fantastic paranormal romance! It was a page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.
Great story line. Seems kind of rough. Jumping around the different perspectives of the characters was a bit confusing. Always bothers me when one character opena up and the other doesn’t. I guess that is the point of a series.
This is the first book in the Creatures of Darkness series. A Wicked Hunger is a full length novel (of 350 pages) but it does end in a cliffhanger so you will want to pick up the second in the series, A Wicked Night. The story drew me in right from the start – fast action, vampires, witches, intrigue and super-hot romance. I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the series. in the Creatures of Darkness series.
This starts out with lots of action some bloody sexy Alpha male characters and a slightly wimpy female lead. (I’ll come back to her).
The story line itself is a wonderful tangle of action and deception.
So many bloody delightful characters each with their own seemingly individual agendas brought together – Some willing -Others not so much.
Cora it seems may be the last pawn on the game board, as her past is revealed her future becomes questionable.
Mason is the vampire equivalent of the law and it seems he has his own agenda.
Knox also has his own agenda that seems a bit more sinister as well as what may be a bitter backstory with Mason.
Oh, and someone is not playing nice.
It’s a lot at once.
Normally this would bother me! It didn’t here. Fay wove the story flawlessly. Introducing each subplot in a way that gave me just enough to elongate my fangs but not enough to quench my thirst.
This ends on a cliffy – but I expected that – it’s a first in series
Now let’s move on to Cora…
At some time in her life before we met her someone removed her spine. There were moments I wasn’t sure how she functions daily. As the story progresses though she seems to be regrowing that backbone. Sure she regresses on occasion but I think (I hope) as time goes on and secrets are revealed she will find her inner tigress.
Mason starts out totally bad arse, I liked his whatever don’t mess with me vibe. Slowly though he melts.. he doesn’t totally ‘kitten’ out but there are times I question if he was body swapped
Knox is all Alpha all the time and he has no (you know) to give. I can’t wait to find out his story
I will definitely be grabbing the next in series. The possibilities with this cast and the paths that have been laid out are endless!

This is my second book by this author. I do like vampire romances. It seems this genre brings with it, steamy romance, angsty moments, great characters. My thoughts on this novel: it was good. I loved the plot twists, as I was kept guessing. I will definitely pick up the next book in the series so I can find out what happens! It kept me entertained for several hours!
A WICKED HUNGER by Kiersten Fay is the first book in the Creatures of Darkness Paranormal Romantic Suspense series. Fay is a “new to me” author.
Coraline Conwell survived on the streets after the death of her parents and brother when she was ten. She thought she had finally put that life behind her when she married Winston Gordon, a wealthy businessman. However, all is not what it seems and living in a world where vampires run the city and witches exist, anything can happen. The second protagonist is Mason, a member of the Vampire Enforcement Agency assigned to investigate Winston and Coraline.
The story begins with a great first chapter that pulls the reader into the story. Coraline is someone you can root for as her back story comes to light. The main characters felt three-dimensional with their own flaws and virtues. The relationships between the characters were mainly believable.
There were enough twists and turns to keep me engaged, but Coraline seemed too weak and naïve to be a great heroine. There are plenty of steamy scenes in the book and the suspense part often took a backseat to that. Additionally, the novel ends in a cliffhanger. For this reason alone, I would only recommend this to those that enjoy that type of ending.
Many thanks to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op and Kiersten Fay for a digital ARC of this novel via Net Galley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
Wicked Hunger is the first book in the Creatures of Darkness series by Kiersten Fay. After the death of her parents and baby brother when she was only ten, Coraline Conwell survived the best she could in a world devastated by a war between humans and vampires. She thought her luck had finally changed when she was ‘rescued’ by Winston Gordon, a wealthy businessman, only to find out he’d betrayed her on the night she became a widow, at the same time attracting the attention of the Vampire Enforcement Agency – something no human wants to do. With assassins after her and finding out that she isn’t who she thought she was, the question is will she survive long enough to get the answers she looking for?
The plot has lots of twists and turns to grab a reader’s attention but there was something about the heroine Cora that I just didn’t like. She came across as being stupid and very naïve. Definitely not someone who’s managed to survive on her own especially considering her backstory. Mason, the hero and vampire agent seems a bit too wimpy too be a badass but at least there’s an alpha anti-hero in the form of Knox. Another VEA agent but one with a hidden agenda. Will I read the next book in the series? Probably, but only because this book ends on a major cliffhanger and I have a few thoughts of my own about how the story will develop and I want to see if I’m right.
So my first question is this book a reverse harem or not. It is hard to tell. I think the author is leaning that way but I do like to know this stuff before I start reading a book. If that is the case a lot of things make more sense if not then they don’t. This was an interesting start to this series. It ends on a cliffhanger. Book 2 is already out so at least you don’t have to wait for it. Coraline has a lot happen to her in her young life. It seems that is not going to change anytime soon. It will be interesting to see where this series goes.

Loved it and had to buy the rest so I could finish the series!
Such an intriguing storyline, the start of a reverse harem series. Coraline witnesses her husband’s murder then is taken into protective custody by a vampire working for the Vampire Enforcement Agency. While trying to get to a safe haven, she and Mason are relentlessly pursued by bounty hunters set on killing her. A blood bond is formed when Mason gives Cora his blood to save her life. Their relationship evolves into more as they seek to find answers to what is happening and who to trust. An excellent beginning.

A Wicked Hunger by Kiersten Fay is an amazing story to read. This is an amazing story writen by an amazing new author for me. I am so glad I found this author and read an glad I was able to read this story. I loved this story and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I really enjoyed this story. Once again Ms. Fay has written and developed a “world” that captured my attention and kept me turning the pages. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the series holds…

This book has a lot going on in it, and the plot twists just kept coming. Just when you think you might know what direction the story is going in, Kiersten throws something else completely unexpected at you. I admit I wasn’t as fond of the characters in this book as I’ve been with her others, but somehow I still got drawn into the story and lost some sleep because I couldn’t put the book down. Quite a few times I said I would read a chapter before bed, and next thing I knew it was two, three, four….. and quite a few times I found myself thinking about the book during the day, wondering how I could find time to read some more to find out what happens next. There is an extra twist regarding Cora that completely hooked me once it was discovered and really added to the plot. One of the reasons I love Kiersten’s books is she is awesome at mixing together different paranormal/fantasy/mystical beings and churning out a unique storyline, not the same old, same old that seems to prevail nowadays. Be prepared you’re going to need to keep reading the series to find out how things end. This isn’t a standalone book as her others usually are, but it is well worth the read, and I’m looking forward to finding out what happens to Cora.
COMPLETELY CAPTIVATING !!!
Title: A Wicked Hunger
Series: Creatures of Darkness
Author: Kiersten Fay
Designation: Book One of Series, Full-Length Novel, NOT A Standalone, Cliffhanger Ahead
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Four Seriously Sexy Stars****
**Disclosure: The information in the blurb for A Wicked Hunger states the first three books of the Creatures of Darkness Series can be read in any order, but I strongly disagree. It is my opinion that none of the first three books should be considered a standalone. In order to understand and enjoy the story, they must be read in order. The first two books, A Wicked Hunger and A Wicked Night, end with obvious cliffhangers and the third, A Wicked Desire, concludes with a questionable happy for now. All three books feature Coraline Gordon/Conwell and have a common underlying conflict with various interconnected subplots, but each story focuses primarily on Cora and one of the three heroes.
I became a Kiersten Fay fan only a week ago after reading Keeping His Siren, the fourth book of the Creatures of Darkness Series. It was my first time reading her work but was so impressed, I decided to purchase the other three books and immediately dove in. Best decision ever! A Wicked Hunger is a riveting, imaginative, fast-paced, full-length paranormal saga filled to the brim with compelling drama, pulse-pounding danger, edge-of-your-seat action, daring adventure, nail-biting suspense, heart-wrenching angst, intriguing characters, steamy passion, and dreamy romance. The setting for the story is a somewhat dystopian future in which many modern conveniences, the internet, and technology like cell phones and computers are only available to the wealthy. It was caused by a century of wars between vampires and humans after vampires revealed themselves to the world. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives, primarily from the protagonists of each book. The dialogue is smart, witty, at times snarky and humorous, well executed and flows effortlessly. I love the premise for the story but without a doubt, my favorite component is the large cast of intriguing characters. They are captivating, sexy, well developed and engaging. This story has a complex plot that carries forward through all three books and includes several subplots featuring several of the secondary characters. I’m writing this review after having read all three books so I’m trying not to give any spoilers, but I feel compelled to say this could have easily been a five-star read but several of the plot threads were left unresolved and ignored. As I stated earlier, I’ve also read Book Four so I know they were NOT addressed at all so the author left me hanging. I must admit, it’s a little disturbing but then again, she may have plans to address these issues in a future book. The jury is still out but I hope this is the case. I fell in love with the four protagonists of this story, and yes I said four. The first book features primarily Coraline and Mason, the second is mainly Coraline and Braydon, and the third, Coraline and Knox. You’ll see all of them mentioned or popping up in all of the first three books along with a menagerie of other players who add dimension to the story. I was especially impressed with Cora in this story. Her growth was simply astounding, starting as meek and subservient as a mouse and eventually morphing into a lioness, willing to risk everything for those she loves. ANd FYI, she does love three men, and not just ordinary men but three very dominant and competitive vampires. Oh god, talk about sexy times! *swoon* The banter and foreplay was nothing short of exquisite!
Did I like this book? No, I loved it! WOuld I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. I will say that all three of the books were littered with misspelled words (and I’m not referring to regional language differences such as realize and realise), incorrect use of homonyms and homophones, missing letters in words, and missing prepositions. There were several times I had to stop and reread passages to understand what the author was trying to say, which can not only be very distracting but also interrupts the flow of the story, hence the four stars instead of five. Every single mistake could have been easily corrected with a simple proofread. There’s no doubt Fay is a talented wordslinger and skilled wordsmith, but when I pay $5.99 to $7.99 for a book, I expect a certain level of quality and, unfortunately, Fay missed the mark. Nonetheless, I still very much enjoyed the story. I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader as my heart fluttered wildly in my chest. I simply couldn’t stop reading. I read all three books in two days and wanted more! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! As soon as she releases the next book in this series, I’m all over it! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
No spoilers from me but I will say this… Lovely orphan heroine who lost her parents as a child forcing her to live on the streets, all the while trying to remain invisible to the predators of the world, especially vampires, but failing miserably-Check! Three handsome and very dominant vampire males who, either by accident or unwilling force, become bonded to the same beautiful woman who just may not be entirely human-Check! Danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, malevolent enemies and evil machinations-In spades! Heated attraction, fiery passion, steamy sex, dreamy romance, and even a dash of humor-You bet! That and a whole lot more!
