Anneke’s typical day at the office is thrown into disarray when she finds her next patient is an unwitting werewolf. And it doesn’t end there. From the moment Caleb Kitt walks into Doctor Anneke Lund’s office for his psychiatry session, she knows his problem isn’t mental. He’s been experiencing night terrors, having violent and bloodthirsty dreams, and waking up naked in strange places. But he’s … places. But he’s not losing his mind, as he suspects. He’s actually a werewolf—he just doesn’t know it yet.
Anneke isn’t just a psychiatrist—she’s also an empath, meaning she can read minds, and influence thoughts and behavior. She rarely uses her powers, but recognizes she may have no other choice as Caleb must be convinced of his supernatural status before the next full moon arrives. When it does, though, she finds herself going way beyond her duty of care to ensure Caleb doesn’t hurt or kill anyone when he transforms. But at what cost?
Please note: A Werewolf State of Mind was previously published in Coming in Hot: Rescue Me boxed set.

I really enjoyed this book. Caleb goes to see psychiatrist Anneke because he thinks he’s going crazy, but she knows whats happening to him, she just doesn’t know how to tell him.
This story may be short but it wasn’t missing anything, just concentrating on the two characters meant you got to know them really well.
I enjoyed the conversations between the two of them, they got angry, annoyed, snappy and flirty – it made it easier to like them when you could see neither was perfect.
This is a very interesting story. It is a short and quick read or in this case listen. The story is a bit of paranormal read with a werewolf presence. Caleb is having some very strange dreams so he seeks professional help. Anneke is a psychiatrist with her own brand of talent. When Caleb walks in she knows but needs to gently lead him to the answers. As they work together for a solution for his problem the two form a budding friendship that definitely becomes more; especially with the possibility of added werewolf touches added to the mix. I like the characters and the plot is interesting.
Most of the short stories I’ve read, listened to, and reviewed have been good. This is no exception, I knew it wouldn’t be going in. This isn’t the first Lucy Felthouse story I’ve reviewed. I’m a (new) fan of her work.
I loved every minute of this story. First and foremost, because it’s different. I thought I’d read so many romance stories that I could predict exactly how this would go. But I was wrong and that made it new and exciting. The characters have chemistry and it doesn’t feel ridiculously rushed like so many stories do. It takes its time, builds up to the payoff, and then it ends. Damn, why did it have to end/ I had temporarily forgotten it was a short story and I died a little inside when I heard the credits.
The summary (the Audible one at least) is exactly what you get. It gets in, tells its story, wraps things up nicely while leaving room for a follow-up. A follow-up I would totally read. These two are adorable together.
Aside from having to listen to the narrator mispronounce envelope several times, the narration is great. “Onvelope” isn’t a word and that will never stop annoying me. Envelope is envelop with an e on the end. Nobody says onvelop because that’s stupid.

I am not into paranormal. But I thought I’d give this one a try. It was a shorter listen. I really enjoyed it. The narrator made me feel for these two characters. Caleb and his anxiety for his potential to harm. Especially Anneke who he is falling for.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Story Origin.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s was quick book to listen too, but we’ll worth it. I can’t wait to try another one her books. The narrator voice was very easy to listen to.
A Werewolf State of Mind was a great read by Lucy Felthouse. Caleb went to see Dr. Anneke for psychiatry sessions. He has been having night terrors and very violent dreams. He also wakes up in strange places naked. Anneke knows that it isn’t a problem with his mentality and the fact that he’s a werewolf. Luckily for him Anneke is an empath and knows how to help him. I really enjoyed Caleb and Anneke’s story.
A Werewolf State of Mind introduces readers to Psychic Psychologist Anneke Lund who quickly sees that the problem Caleb Kitt is having is not a mental problem but a paranormal one instead. While struggling with what to do and how to help Caleb, the two draw closer together. This book was an interesting read, and for one who tends to read and drift toward paranormal romance books, a different take on one. It is not often that a werewolf doesn’t know who or what they are and this book offers an interesting glimpse into that aspect. If you like paranormal romance novels/novellas, you should definitely check this one out.
I thought this was a fresh and interesting idea for a werewolf story, where an unsuspecting new shifter approaches a psychiatrist for help with disturbing dreams. Fortunately, the psychiatrist just happens to be an empath. The fact that they both have an instant attraction for each other adds a nice twist and something they try to put to one side. I liked both characters, and enjoyed the climax of the shifter side of the story.
I liked this author’s spin on the paranormal. When psychologist Anneke Lund has to “diagnose” Caleb she gets more than she bargained for. She isn’t diagnosing his mental state or his dream state for that matter, she is diagnosing his paranormal state. See Caleb doesn’t know he is a werewolf and he is having some bizarre dreams during the full moon. The more time Anneke and Caleb spend together the closer they get. Overall this is a good book, I can’t wait for more from this author.
