Celia Lawrence can’t show her face in her conservative, small town. First, she discovered her husband in bed with another man’s wife, and then she witnessed both their murders. While she didn’t pull the trigger, small town gossip is not forgiving and everywhere she goes she is chastised for not being woman enough to keep her straying husband at home. Eager to flee her old life, Celia heads to … Colorado as a mail-order bride.
As mayor of Slate Springs, Colorado, Luke Tate is expected to set the example. Their small town is hidden away in a remote mountainous region where few women have the courage or desire to tread. As mayor, it falls to him to test out their newly passed law and share a wife with his brother. The truth is, Luke has no interest in a woman of his own, and agrees to a mail-order bride out of duty, not anticipation.
His brother, Walker, is jaded and hard after the death of his first wife. For Walker, loving again is out of the question. But a man has needs, and he’ll eagerly take his pleasure from their new bride while expecting Luke to provide the tenderness and caring a woman expects.
A marriage based on everything but love should be doomed. But Celia, Luke and Walker discover one thing they have in common: desire. Will that be strong enough to survive the danger that follows Celia from Texas? Will desire be strong enough to teach the three that sometimes you have to risk everything for love?

This was my second book of Vanessa’s and to say I’m hooked on her writing is an understatement. I’m normally not one for mail-order bride books but this book might have me rethinking that assessment. The way Vanessa wrote it into this story flowed well, and didn’t seemed forced. Celia was escaping a life that she needed to get away from and fell into the arms of two gorgeous men, who lived in a town that gets isolated from the rest of the country during the winter. And personally, I would love to be trapped there with them!
Short and hot
If you like short, hot erotic stories that’s easy to read I recommend this ménage story.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Enough dialogues to keep the pace up.
Try it!
A little too steamy for me
It’s really all about the sex, not much plot going on, but I liked it!
Sexy and so hot hot hot.
Just discovered Vanessa Vale – have already read several of her books.
I kept expecting the story to read as a historical romance novel. It never truly did. The time period made had been in the past but the characters and language was very much the present. The MFM wasn’t believable for the time period. Storyline, although easy to follow wasn’t that exciting/interesting.
Great trio book.
One hot read, enjoyed every page
Opens your mind to the possibilities…
This book is great and very believable and leaves the reader wanting more.
Left me wanting more
Delicious sexy fun
Wonderful
A great hot read that left me wanting more. I couldn’t chose which brother I liked the best and Celia is a lucky woman! I liked how the author took the mail order bride plot and made it into something naughty. I would recommend this book and will be checking out the other books in this series when I have time
A Wanton Woman by Vanessa Vale is a historical romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. This is a M/F/M menage book, so it may not be for everyone. Ms. Vale has provided readers with a great story and wonderful characters. Celia is mostly ignored in her marriage. When she finds her husband having sex with another woman in her bed then witnesses the other woman’s husband barge in and shoot them both she is forced to become a mail order bride. Luke and Walker are brothers in a town where the population is mostly men. The town voted to allow two men to marry one woman and as the town mayor, Luke feels he must lead by example. Luke, Walker and Celia’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and action. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Vanessa Vale in the future.
Definitely a sexy read, great story line set in the 1800’s
The book was all right I think it should’ve had a little bit more depth
I am a big fan of Vanessa Vale and this book is one reason I like this author. Enjoyed it from start to finish.
Great story
