He’s ignored her for fifteen years, now he’s wants to marry her. Because she’s convenient.
William Breckinridge, the Duke of Thorne was bethrothed to Lady Olivia as children. Neither one has a favorable opinion of their younger selves.
Now, fifteen years later, he’s the guardian to his three teenage sisters and wants a wife to deal with them. So, while resentful of their agreement, he’s here to collect.
Lady Olivia has no plans to marry a man who completely and totally ignored her for fifteen years. She doesn’t want to marry him, but would want to marry for love.
That’s the one thing William doesn’t offer her. So she devises a plan to behave poorly to get out of their contract.
Will it work or will William fall for the feisty Olivia?
Recommend.

Fifteen years betrothed and not one letter or visit, until now. Lady Olivia is angry with William, Duke of Thorne. He expects to marry her right away to mother his three younger sisters and ready them for their season. Olivia won’t marry without love. So she begins her campaign to push him to call the wedding off. It’s up to William to convince her she’s the one he loves. Very amusing antics to convince William to call off the wedding.
Needs proof reading, please.
First, let me say I enjoyed the story – it was very short, started on page 73 & ended on 953 & it just ended, with no epilogue.
Lady Olivia Montague is a self proclaimed wallflower & future spinster – she has had a marriage contract for the last 15 years & has not heard from her future husband one time. The last thing she expected was for him to show up & announce he was ready to marry her – she has to find a way to escape this fate.
William Breckenridge, recently titled Duke of Thorne after the death of his parents, is now responsible for his 3 sisters & he needs a wife’s help with the 16. 18 & 19 year old young ladies. He doesn’t find a willing Olivia when he comes to her to announce his readiness to marry. The H & h were meant for each other but you really didn’t get much time with the 2 of them interacting.
I can’t believe the editing errors – such a short book in a series & the editing was done poorly.
I’ve read several books written by Amanda Mariel; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

This is a fun, romantic and heartwarming story. William and Olivia have been betrothed since they were children, but Willam has ignored Olivia for the past 15 years, so she thought that she was free. Then he shows up demanding to be married immediately, Olivia adamantly says no, and when he refuses to accept that answer, she sets out to scare him away by being the most inappropriate lady ever. Unfortunately for her, he finds it amusing.

This short read was very enjoyable with the good storyline and the well rounded characters that kept me totally engaged until the turn of the very last page!
A jaunty tale of a forgotten betrothal that was arranged when Lady Olivia and Lord William when they were children. Fifteen years later, Olivia was advised the Duke was coming to fulfill the contract of marriage. It was funny all the things Olivia did to dissuade him. She longed for love and he needed convenience. The story was entertaining but too short. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lady Olivia was funny with her hoydenish antics to dissuade the Duke of Thorne, William from marrying her. But she was foolish to run away thinking she could easily get a job as a governess or companion without references and little money. She also thought her time would be her own, which would not be the case if she went into service. Despite his stubbornness over their arranged marriage William was starting to care for her and he enjoyed her company even with her antics. She should have talked to him before running away.
Lady Olivia is determined to show William, her betrothed who abandoned her for 15 yrs she doesn’t want to marry. Will William be able to show her be loves her before she’s gone to far?
Sweet and heart warming.

Can opinions change?
A convenient marriage he thinks forgetting the 15 years span I do believe the lady will have something to say about this. A cute story that was so much fun to read and I adored the sub-characters Emma and Juliet. Ms. Mariel writes books that hook you and are so entertaining. I highly recommend this work. Loved it. Historical romance. Lady Olivia has been waiting years for her betrothal to appear and had given up now the Duke is ready but she isn’t

This sweet quick-read was about opening the heart, trust, hope, perseverance, forgiveness and love. And included an HEA, of course, despite Olivia’s intentions otherwise.
Just for the record, photography as we know it didn’t get going until the 1850’s, making it impossible for the duke to see a photograph in 1810 from Olivia’s childhood. Even the oldest known photograph, which took several days to expose, is from 1824.

This was a delightful quick read and although the main characters don’t really have a chance to fully develop, it’s still worth the read.
Lady Olivia Montague has been betrothed to the Duke of Thorne, William Breckenridge, since they were children but it’s taken him 15 years to come and collect on that contract. She will do anything not to marry him because she’d rather become a spinster than be caught in a loveless marriage. When she finally meets him again after 15 years, she discovers he’s turned out to be quite handsome and when he decides to woo her to make up for ignoring her for so long, she has a hard time resisting!
William needs a wife to guide his sisters into their first season and figures Olivia would be perfect for the job. What he doesn’t expect is to find that she’s become quite the beauty and he feels a deep attraction to her, even when she pretends to be a hoyden and does everything to make him change his mind about marrying her. He takes it all in stride, though, and before he knows it, his heart is involved.

I love a good Regency Romance—it is my favorite sub-genre of historical romance—but unfortunately, this is not one of them. The book is very short and suffers from a malady common to novellas: the dreaded information dump. And this happened not just once but twice. First, there was a data dump from the heroine and then a data dump from the hero. Despite that this excessive and repetitive information, I still didn’t feel like I got to know these characters. The book is full of so many errors with grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage that it was exceedingly distracting. Did the heroine have “ill-manors”? The wrong form of too/to was used on more than one occasion. Words like “deuce” were misspelled (duce… really??). I could go on for paragraphs at how many things were just wrong, wrong, wrong. The book ended very abruptly as well.
I actually thought this was a good premise for a Regency romance (and was even looking forward to reading it), but it was so poorly executed that I cannot recommend it at all.
