With a loving hand, Francine Rivers has written a message of truth and hope in a world filled with lies and despair. Readers will not soon forget Hadassah and her triumph over fear, nor her steadfastness to the Lord. A Voice in the Wind is certain to touch the hearts of all those who read it.
One of my favorite River’s books from a riveting Biblical series.
I read this novel over twenty years ago, and I go back to it again and again. A Voice in the Wind is a story of true love discovered in a world of pain. I’ve always been fascinated by the Roman Empire, but Rivers made me feel as if I was living it with the characters. I love this book and the others in the series.
I read this book back in 1996, and it still resonates with me to this day. It is the first book in the trilogy, Mark of the Lion, historical fiction set in Rome, circa 70 AD. The main character, Hadassah, undergoes the most horrendous life experiences, but by the end of the sequel, ‘An Echo in the Darkness, ‘(which you will want the second you …
Amazing!
It was hard reading about the Roman games and the bloodshed in this story. But the story shows how sin can callus the human heart and cause people to do despicable things. I love how the main character was a believer in Jesus Christ. She truly let the light of His love fill her and made an impact on those she came in contact with. She served …
Ugh. I loved this book (with a few minor annoyances throughout the text that I overlooked) until the very end, when I realized I knew exactly how it was going to end. And I thought, I’ve just invested HOURS in this?! (Spoiler alert: I really can’t review this book without giving away the end.)
The story takes place during the time of the first …
One of the best books I’ve ever read. I’ve read it multiple times and recommended it to friends.
Hadassah is a Messianic Jew, sold as a slave when captured by Romans. Rivers is a master at writing fiction from the Biblical era – Hadassah’s father was the young boy raised by Jesus from the dead – a minor mention in the book, but explains why she know the apostle John. Her story is based in faith, loving the family who owns her as she prays …
5 things from A Voice in the Wind

1)Hadassah is a young Jewish Christian Carried off as a slave when Jerusalem falls in 70ad
2) Her self-centered young mistress, Julia Valerian, is intent on experiencing every pleasure Rome has to offer.
3)Handsome older brother, Marcus, is Julia’s inspiration. He and Hadassah are attracted to …
I read this book about 12 years ago and I still think of Hadassah. The writing is so descriptive and the characters so realistic…I felt as though I was there. I always recommend this book to others. It is simply wonderful.
One of my favorite books of all time.
Awesomely inspiring book series. Some of the best I have ever read.
One of my favorite series to both read and listen to (audiobook). I continue to recommend this book to friends and family. I visit this series at least once a year!
I am so drawn to Hadassah. Her innocence and love of God. I can relate to her fear and devotion to sharing God’s love. We also become greatly invested in the lives of Phoebe and her …
This series is a must read. I can’t say enough about how much this well-written series stayed with me and inspired me to be a better Christian long after I was done reading.
I read the 3 books and it broke my heart the early Christians suffered do much, but truly loved our Lord
A family in Jesus time Christians being hurt but increasing .inspirational but sometimes violent. Well written ,where exactly where they are ,almost step by step. Must read first book first. Each book a story.
