From a USA Today Best Selling AuthorThe story is not your typical murder mystery. The sleuth is not a detective, private eye, or lawyer. He’s an ordinary guy with an extraordinary dog.Jacob Martin is trying to make the best of a divorce and mid-life crisis when he gets a call at two o’clock Sunday morning from his mother. His sister has been arrested for the murder of her fourth husband, and his … her fourth husband, and his father is near death. Thus begins an adventure that takes Jake and his golden retriever from their Colorado retreat to a backwater town in the Missouri Ozarks where they search for cold-blooded killers, a cache of gold coins buried by Jesse James, and the love of a beautiful nurse.

One of my favorite Authors!
The dog is such a dog. Loved this series.
Realistic fully dimensional characters- in realistic scenes and relatable predicaments. The dig helps the feeling of relatability..
Entertaining for a quick summer read. The plot was a bit disjointed at times with the author having to backtrack to explain things and the ‘so devoted to his sister’ motivation of the main character was never really established for me since he was suspicious of her right from the start. Cute relationship with the dog and using one way …
Easy read, kept my attention throughout the book. Good for summer reading when you just want to enjoy a book.
I enjoyed this book. I particularly liked the main characters. It was easy to read but held my interest. I purchased other books in the series.
I I always keep an eye out for the next book in this series.
I enjoy having a canine character in books. The action is good tho’ a little slow. I still enjoyed reading the book.
An overall good read.
it was a quick easy read
Great book, great series. Loved them all.
well written
Great story. Enjoyed every minute!
I thought that it was very nice reading.
I really didn’t like most of the characters in this book. Not even the main character. I finished it, but won’t be reading any more.
Loved the dog, Freddie. The guy carried me through the book telling me how to break in, clean the computer of info and all while trying to keep a float at the bank. They were always stopping at McDonalds for the burgers and both he and Freddie drunk the beer. Funny.
It was good but not great. It never peaked!
enjoyed it
There was too much drinking and too much ogling, not to mention adultery. I can’t recommend it.
First book i have read of this author..will be reading more..loved Fred and Jake and their easy going way of solving crime
