From a USA Today Best Selling AuthorThe story is not your typical murder mystery. The sleuth is not a detective, private eye, or lawyer. He’s an ordinary guy with an extraordinary dog.Jacob Martin is trying to make the best of a divorce and mid-life crisis when he gets a call at two o’clock Sunday morning from his mother. His sister has been arrested for the murder of her fourth husband, and his … her fourth husband, and his father is near death. Thus begins an adventure that takes Jake and his golden retriever from their Colorado retreat to a backwater town in the Missouri Ozarks where they search for cold-blooded killers, a cache of gold coins buried by Jesse James, and the love of a beautiful nurse.

I saw my dog in it often.
I love my dogs and I hope they would help find the killer like this dog did. Entertaining.
Well written, limited typos. Good story line although the identity of the killer was fairly obvious from the start. However, I got really tired of the recitation of the both the dog’s and the primary character’s urination habits. Really?? Necessary to move the story? I’ve passed on the rest of the series at this point, I may swing back around to …
fun read
This is the 2nd book of his that I have read. I liked them both.
Enjoyed this book
It was ok not the best but not the worst
I love the dog more than the detective, who drank too much alcohol! I think the author is a neighbor of mine.
An easy-to-read whodunit with great characters. Good writing.
Really enjoyed it. Good read.
I loved this book, couldn’t seem to put it down.
Before the first chapter was over I was having serious doubts if I would be able to finish A View to Die For. Several times during the book I thougt about giving up on it, but I hate to do that. I finally got thru it, but I won’t be reading any more by Richard Houston.
None of the people in this book are nice. Most of them are nasty, hateful …
Slow development of characters and story.
Not my favorite book- just seemed to be lacking more character development and more of a plot
I had to leave it. No time.
I have enjoyed this series. The characters are entertaining making it a quick read.
Love the dog..
This was a pleasant mystery read. Interesting characters. I think you would be well entertained and should certainly pick this one up.
I love the dog, he is a main character. Great story and a mystery.
Imminently forgettable.
