A Spy without a Country – Simon Weston grew up royal in a place where aristocracy still mattered. Ian Taggart showed him a better way to serve his fellow man and introduced him to Sanctum, a place to pursue his passion for Dominance and submission. Topping beautiful subs was … was a lovely distraction until he met Chelsea, and becoming her Master turned into Simon’s most important mission. Everything changed when Simon Weston crossed her path. Valiant and faithful, he was everything she needed-and a risk she couldn’t afford to take. A Force too Strong to Resist – When dark forces from her past threaten her newfound family at Sanctum, Chelsea must turn to Simon, the one man she can trust with her darkest secrets. Chelsea is in danger and the first person she turns to for help is Simon. But before he will help her, he requires that she sign a contract (which she doesn’t fully read), thinking this will ensure that she obeys him. Nothing is ever that simple and as they work to determine who is behind the threat to Chelsea, they both learn more about each other. Even though Simon presents a certain image to others, he has issues relating to his childhood. And Chelsea is so inexperienced with relationships and sex. There lots of action, humor, hot chemistry between Simon and Chelsea, and more family members in this story.
I can’t get enough Simon and Chelsea are the cutest couple…. It just took for Chelsea to get a bomb threat on her life that cause her to trust Simon with her life… Once they both realized that their childhood was almost the same with not having very much love from their families, it was so cute seeing they work through their issues about trust and what love really means to them and once they got that figured out is was smooth sealing from there.. I can’t get enough of the Master and Mercenaries series
I like the series. I am hooked on the Taggert – McCay team. The series is good guys vs. bad guys, good vs. evil. The good guys come out on top, but there is always a struggle.
This book was no different. It was just Simon and Chelsea’s turn. I do enjoy listening to Ryan West as he goes through the different accents. You can easily pick out each character based on voice along with level of snarkiness.
Simon and Chelsea’s book was not my favorite, but it was still a decent read. I understand people have baggage and insecurities, but for these people to play in the international spy game, they are some of the most overly sensitive people that have ever been found. It’s exhausting.
Every single time Simon and Chelsea grew closer, one of the other would say some that would be misconstrued, and force them apart again. I don’t mind the push and pull, but I would like this book so much better if that had been reduced and more time had been given to them being together having settled their insecurities.
I didn’t care for Chelsea. She was totally unprepared to play on the same field as her sister. She was made out to be tougher in the previous books. I would rather have her be tougher and not really likable that turn into the ditz who reacted emotionally to almost EVERY SINGLE THING in this book.
I did like Simon, but him being “Dom Like” was inconsistent to the point of me forgetting he was supposed to be a dom.
I guess the basis of the romance in this book has to do with the chase, but it would be great to have some time with the main characters being together before you get the lead in to the next book. Just one woman’s opinion.
Suspense and romance
The seventh book in this series and still the author managed to hold my interest. It’s suspenseful, sweet, romantic and very steamy.
The chemistry between Chelsea and Simon is undeniable and I love how they find their way in to each other’s heart.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
The world building is fabulous, family isn’t just blood, it’s the bond you create with other in shared experiences.
The storyline progresses nicely to a happy ending
Characters is coming alive in the way the author describes them and makes them realistic personalities.
Reading this series is making me longing for them all to find their love.
5 excellent stars
3 1/2 stars
Before starting A view to a Thrill I thought Chelsea was a childish, selfish, obnoxious, bitch, and my opinion hasn’t changed. She made this book insufferable. Which is truly terrible because I loved Simon, he deserves so much better than Chelsea. Sure by the end of the book she is supposed to be a decent human, but it just wasn’t believable. She was too far gone in her childish and selfish ways. Maybe in time, if she can prove to be an adult, maybe then I will stop hating her like a bad case of the clap, maybe.
Thankfully the bitch from hell aside, the plot was actually very good. So at least something was enjoyable.
Simon and Chelsea are definitely not a match made in heaven. Two loners, two disconnected people because of their childhoods and yet while they try to keep their distance from each other, they are drawn to one another like moths to flames. The world at large seems to want a piece of Chelsea Dennis, The Broker. Now it’s up to Simon to keep her safe from those who would take her.
How can you not live Simon Weston? The Brit who has impeccable breeding and manners and who, no matter what has happened, looks like he just stepped off the pages of GQ. Lexi Blake sets a fast pace with this book. The bad guys seem to come out of the woodwork. The action is pretty much non-stop but that’s not to say there’s no steamy encounters between Dom Simon and sub Chelsea. Your toes will curl righr along with hers.
The Brit and the Brat…I loved it! Our Brit, Simon Weston, has wanted Chelsea Dennis since he first laid eyes on her. She has been super bit€h from the get go. Until the day she finds 2 bombs waiting at home for her. Then she runs to Simon and he takes advantage by getting her to sign a D/s contract. I really kinda sorta hated Chelsea in the previous books. I mean she’s a brat! But we get her story and I ended up loving her. And our Simon isn’t the put together gentleman we think. He had his own sad childhood to deal with. Lots of exciting action and espionage and laughs and steamy sexy scenes and Ian being Ian.
Simon is my second favorite of the songs of Sanctum. It’s as usual action packed and fun. I don’t know what more to say about Lexi Blake and her crew. Just they are amazing to me
A View to a Thrill by Lexi Blake is the 7. installment in her Masters and Mercenaries Series. Every book can easily be read as a standalone.
Simon Weston is a british aristocrat,ex british agency agent, Dom at Sanctum in Dallas, Texas and in love with a woman who doesn’t even looks at him.
Chelsea Dennis aka Denisovich, is the daughter of a russian mob boss and sister to Charlotte Taggart, Ian Taggart’s wife. Chelsea calls him Satan with good reason. He’s manipulative, overbearing and paranoid. And he’s my absolute favorite character in this series. Just read and see why he named hid daughter Kala – brilliant. Ok, back to Simon and Chelsea. Chelsea is a hacker genius, a mastermind, undefeated. What her body lacks in fitness, her mind makes up for that tenfold.
A View to a Thrill picks up where the previous book, Dungeon Royale left off.
Chelsea shows up on Simon’s doorstep because she’s threatened with a bomb, yes a real life packet bomb. He does everything to keep her safe, including a chase to Europe and beaten to an inch of his life.
I confess, I’m addicted to Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries Series. The stories are unique and captivating, the writing is excellent and I can’t say how much I love the characters and the words. I read A View to a Thrill in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what happens to the characters.
I recommend the book and the series and give 5 stars.
This is one of my favorite series and I could not wait for Simon and Chelsea’s story! This story is delightfully angsty! Just enough to make the sweet moments even sweeter. This was a page turner for me and I could not wait to see what the next chapter brought. Simon and Chelsea both have insecurities to overcome and trust to build. I loved reading how their love story unfolded. Plus I loved getting updates from the other members of the McKay-Taggart team!
I read them so fast that i was in pain til the next one came out . It’s an amazing series. I have read them twice now.
