I don’t normally give five stars to a short story, but this one really got me.
There is a wedding between Jamie de Wolfe and Rose Hage. All of the de Wolfe family including the families that are tied to them are there for the event, except one. It is a very emotional time for everyone.
I didn’t bother reading the blurb for this book because I will read anything this author writes. The title says “Joyous” I did not expect to cry my way through most of it. I was reading it on the bike at the gym, very embarrassing. That will teach me to make sure before I start.
I have read the stories that connect with this one, but that doesn’t stop the tears.
I loved it. Just make sure you have tissues handy.

A De Russe Christmas Miracle.
Dane De Russe, the Duke of Shrewsbury is taking his pregnant wife, Grier to visit his family home. It might well be the last Christmas for his father, so it’s doubly important. On the way he does something he thought he would never do.
A very emotional Christmas for a huge loving family. Will they have anything to celebrate???
I loved it.

The Dark Lord’s First Christmas
Jax De Velt was a vicious war lord, killing and plundering his way through life. That was until he met the daughter of one of his victims. Now married to her and happier than he can ever remember being. Unfortunately a man can’t change everything about himself when he doesn’t think it’s wrong. This Christmas will teach him a very needed lesson.
An amusing and emotional story. I loved his book and this little follow up..

Realm Of Angels.
Rhogan De Garr, Juliana De Nerra.
Sir Rhogan De Garr made a bad decision to pursue money and land, it cost him something much more valuable.
Juliana De Nerra made up her mind about the man she would one day marry as a child. Even though she has not seen him for years, her mind has not changed.
This Christmas season will bring about the truth in people’s hearts. Appearance means nothing if the heart is true
A beauty and the beast type story but the true beast is not who others would see.
Good fun.

A Blessed De Lohr Christmas
It was supposed to be a peaceful family get together for Christmas. The attack by the Welsh on a nearby village put an end to that. For our heroes that will be a night to remember. The brothers will put some old memories to rest and clear the air.
An action packed story full of emotion and fun.

Kathryn LeVeque always presents her readers with the best of Christmas cheer and spirit. This years selections include selections of her famous Knights and their families. A Blessed de Lohr Christmas is new to her selections this year. She has given us a look into the family of Christopher de Lohr and the merriment that surrounds the family during the Christmas season. However, their peace is disturbed by a band of villains burning and looting the village. The peace goes out of the joyful celebration when life and death hangs is the balance. The Welch invaders had burned much of the village and looted what they could. Soon it seemed terribly cold and they wondered if they had a chance to beat the Welch? How were the de Lohrs going to handle the situation, when Christopher, himself was wounded? What a great adventure and the magic of Christmas seems to weave itself through this medieval quest.
A Very Medieval Christmas by Kathryn Le Veque is a set of novellas, each taking place at Christmas, although Christmas was very different in medieval times. Several I have read before, the others I had not. It was wonderful to revisit Castle Questing and the de Wolfe family, and also the keep of Christopher and Dustin De Lohr, and re-meet his brother, David, and their friend Marcus, as well as Chris’ oldest son, Peter. An interesting story was The King of Mice, wherein young Juliana’s father, Val de Nerra, tries to force her to marry Aland de Ferrer, Lord Hawkely, a neighbor who would give her a good life and a title. She had no desire to marry having lost the love of her life, Rhogan de Garr, who had decided four years earlier to leave her side and marry a princess. She could not put him out of her mind and refused to consider Aland’s offer. It had a happily-every-after ending as do all good romances and one that surprised everyone involved.
Le Veque always writes a good story. There are likable characters and twists and turns leading to a good end. How she continues to come up with story ideas is amazing given the number of books to her credit. Usually authors start repeating plots or worse, start reaching too far for plots. Not Le Veque. This was an enchanting read, broken into smaller segments for busy people who need to read in bursts. I highly recommend it.
I received a free ARC of A Very Medieval Christmas from Dragonblade. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.
Chistmas novella’s by the Queen of Medieval historical romance. Revisit some of her wonderful characters and from previous books and celebrate the season.
A de Russe Christmas Miracle
A bright star and a time of miracles on Christmas Eve. Dane de Russe and his wife were making their way to Deverill Castle to join all of the family to be with his father, Gaston who was very ill. Amazing to have all of the de Russe family came together, the focus was on the strongest man of their family and being with him for as much time as he had left. But it appeared that not all was lost and as the night passed, a miracle happened indeed! Such a heartwarming short story that brought a smile to my heart.
A Joyous de Wolfe Christmas
The de Wolfe stronghold of Castle Questing
A visit to the amazing House of De Wolfe that was filled to bursting with all manner of relatives to witness the marriage of James de Wolfe and Rosie Hage. These two just won my heart with their love for each other. But the biggest surprise of all was the return of Scott de Wolfe who had been gone several years. When an accident occured that took the life of his and Troy’s wives and children, he ran. His twin Troy had been devastated that he had not come home so when he showed up, all he could feel was bitterness.
But the bonds of twins is so strong that Troy and Scott soon came back together. Every word touched my heart and even though this was a short story, it brought the de Wolfe’s and extended families together and that is always a wonderful happening.
The Dark Lord’s First Christmas
“He was a man who had never truly experienced happiness in his adult life and he could never honestly remember being content about anything.” That so pulled at my emotions! But my heart was smiling as I turned the last page of this novella. It was so wonderful to have a Christmas story about AJax, the Dark Lord and his journey to learning the true meaning of Christmas and compassion.
This was the first Christmas together for Jax and his wife Kelli and they were expecting their first child. One of the fieriest warriors know, Jax was raised to only know how to conquer and take what he wanted. But he was to learn a wonderful lesson from the least expected place which was to change his understanding of what life was really about.
A powerful story that shows, even the most hardened of people can find the true meaning of Christmas which can change their lives!! Thank you Kathryn!!
“A Blessed de Lohr Christmas” follows the four main characters from Ms. Le Veque’s epic novel “Rise of the Defender.” Sir Christopher de Lohr and his Lady Dustin, his brother David de Lohr and his best friend Marcus Burton. At the end of “Rise of the Defender” relationships were strained and they never seemed to regain the closeness they all shared. I loved this novella for bringing our beloved characters together again for holiday season for a family reunion and some Christmas works its magic.
“In A joyous de Wolfe Christmas” I love William de Wolfe and his heart grabbing dialogue with his sons that just grabs at your heart. Everyone is gathering for a wedding between of James de Wolfe to Lady Rose Hage. The relationship between William De Wolfe and his sons has always been amazing, the love and strength they all possess. It was a true Christmas going home and long awaited and anticipated reunion of Scott and Troy de Wolfe wrung tears from my eyes.
“A de Russe Christmas Miracle” All the de Russe family is gathering for Christmas, possible the last Christmas they’ll spend with the patriarch Gaston de Russe. Dane and his wife are traveling to give his father the good news of a new grandbaby on the way. Hoping to give him the encouragement he needs to fight to live. Dane not being a religious man does stops and pray for his father’s health. On Christmas Eve a bright star appears and miracles can happen if one has faith, hope and love. A heartwarming story of the de Russe family we’ve all come to love. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read and I wrote a review these astounding stories from Kathryn le Veque .
A Very Medieval Christmas is exactly what a reader needs to get into the Christmas spirit. I loved the stories I read, they were heartwarming and inspiring. Of course my favorite was with the archangel Raphael; however all the stories are good.
