“Hello, Pax. It’s good to see you again.”And with those frigid words, karma kicked him in the gut and blew his dreams into a million tiny pieces.Tasked with evaluating an adrenaline-pumping adventure resort, sensible banker Sage Somerset travels to Costa Rica, determined to remain cool around Paxton Bennett, a man from her past who’s even more pulse-pounding and potentially dangerous than the … potentially dangerous than the activities offered by his resort.
Pax Bennett needs a loan to save the socially responsible resort he’s devoted his life to. Now his last hope is an on-site visit from a loan officer he’s sure he can impress … until karma intervenes and places his beach-side resort’s future in the hands of Sage, the quick-witted, beautiful girl he unceremoniously rejected six years earlier.
Spending time together soon leaves Sage and Pax questioning the paths they’ve chosen in life. But are they daring enough to risk everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve on a venture of the heart?
One-Click A Venture of the Heart if you like quirky, endearing characters and toe-curling, slow-burn romance with loads of humor and heart.

This is my first Amelia Judd book and I liked it … even though it took me quite awhile to warm up to Sage and her uptight view of life. The story is filled with a well-written cast of characters and the description of Costa Rica and the resort are just enough to put you right into the story. I always know that when I finish the book and want to know what happens to the other characters that the author has done their job. I’ll be looking to read more in this series. Recommend 🙂
Great Beginners
Pax has been living in Costa Rica, he has been running a wonderful petite resort that gives back to the community. Sage works at the local bank and is friends of Pax’s youngster sister. Pax has applied for a loan at the bank, which happens to be his father’s business bank. His mom ask for Sage to go and do the assessment of the property so she can check on him. Can these to finally give into their feelings. Maybe between the resort & his family it can work.
This is the 1st book in a new series, and is Pax and Sage’s story. Pax is the brother of Sage’s best friend; and he owns an adventure hotel, and whom the bank is considering granting a loan to, and Sage is the loan officer they sent to the island. Can these two fight the attraction between them, and overcome the issues standing in their way? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written light hearted storyline, which is sweet, fun, humorous, and with twists and surprises, which all lead to be being hooked and intrigued throughout this page turner. Looking forward to reading the next book in this addictive series.
Wow! I absolutely adored this book. The characters came to life, and I was utterly sucked into this beautiful, romantic story. Amelia Judd writes beautifully, and this contemporary romance was filled with fantastic (and sometimes decidedly sexy) character quirks. Glad I had the second book already lined up and ready to go, because you will want to immerse yourself in the next story as quickly as possible. Stand-alone romances with no cliff-hangers… Unless you count not knowing the (no doubt mesmerising) stories of the other characters introduced in this book!
A VENTURE OF THE HEART (SILVER BAY, #1) is the first book I have read by Amelia Judd and will not be the last. Sage and Pax have had an attraction since she and his sister Kat became friends and she spent vacation time with his family…He knows what he doesn’t want for his future and that causes a problem with his father…She knows she wants a stable future since she did not have that with her single mom. He finds what he wants in Costa Rica and Sage travels there for business…his business.. I enjoy Amelia’s writing as it draws me into the story and I love feeling a part of it. I’m looking forward to reading CRASHING TOGETHER…Kat and Logan story
Silver Bay books 1, 2 and 3 were sold as a series. It was great being able to read all three books altogether. Excellent reading and one that is hard to put down.
I’d venture in!
The start of the Silver Bay Romance series, A Venture of the Heart, is about Pax, a risk taker and Sage, a rule follower and Pax’s sister’s best friend. Sage and Pax initially fight their attraction to each other for various reason. As they are forced to interact with each other, each of them comes to realize that things they thought about themselves is not necessarily true. This is another quick enjoyable read, Amelia Judd really draws the reader into the story.
Amelia Judd’s first novel and what a great start she has made with this quick easy to read light hearted romance with characters you can’t help falling in love with.
Pax is determined to make it on his own away from his family so he has taken a job running a luxury resort in Costa Rica but he has now found out there is a take over planned and he needs funding to purchase the resort for himself.Sage is the banker Pax needs to impress and prove he is a viable proposition but can they get past their history. Pax and Sage are opposites and fate seems determined to keep throwing them together will Sage survive a week with Pax and will the timing be right for them this time around and will business turn into pleasure.
This is a romance with just the right amount of humour, banter, meddlesome families, quirky staff and characters that are easy to like, all of which makes this an enjoyable read. Looking forward to more from this author
4 star Review A Venture of the Heart (Silver Bay #1) by Amelia Judd
Amelia Judd is a new author to me and I found the story to be a good read and one that I really enjoyed.
This was a fun read that had me interested right from the start. The characters were likeable and I found them easy to relate too.
Paxton (Pax) Bennett left Silver Bay to make is mark on the world, away from his father. He manages a luxury resort in Costa Rico but with an imminent take over on the cards, he is desperately trying to find a bank to finance him and his plans to purchase the resort.
Sage Somerset doesn’t want to see Pax Bennett again, not after their last meeting however neither of them take into account family and staff who are determined to get these two together.
Can they deny the chemistry which is so strong between them ? Can these two people who are so opposite find a common ground and take a chance and dive in to a new adventure?
I really liked Pax and was thrilled to see Sage emerge as the woman I knew she could be.
I was pretty undecided between four or five stars. The beginning seemed a little slow to me, but I had a lot going on, so not sure if it was the book or me, but then it took off and really got to me. I loved most of the characters, and the one I didn’t, I wasn’t really supposed to. I can’t wait now, to finish the rest of this series!
Pax left Silver Bay to make his own way, defying his father’s plan for Pax to take over the family’s cabinetry empire. Almost singlehandedly, he’s made La Vida resort into a Costa Rican destination which also gives back to the community. The owner is ready to sell the resort, so Pax is trying to get a loan from the bank back home that holds the family’s business accounts. Sage has been half in love with Pax since she became friends with his sister, Kat, back in college, but when her job as a loan officer sends her to La Vida, foremost in her mind is the years’ old rejection she suffered at the hands of Pax, and the fact that she has to face him again.
The advance copy I read of this book is my first by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It’s clear that this author has a gift for wordsmithing and storytelling. Pax and Sage’s story grabbed me from the beginning and sucked me in, maintaining it’s hold through the last page. Pax was a terrific hero, although a bit misguidedly altruistic when it came to Sage, but Sage was the one who really stole my heart. Her journey, as well as its message, was so great to watch as she shook off her old, safe paradigms, growing braver, bolder, and more adventurous. This is such a fantastic read with a slow simmer romance, quirky, endearing, larger than life characters, a nice dose of humor and loads of heart that’s sure to please!
I couldn’t put this book down! It’s a fun, lighthearted read. I can’t wait for the next book to be released!
This author is new to me so when given the opportunity, I decided to give her a try.
I am so very happy I did. It’s a sweet, at times touching, heartbreaking, as well as a heartwarming story.
This story centers around Pax Bennett and Sage Somerset. Pax , the brother of Sage’s best friend, comes from a wealthy family, but his relationship with his father is strained. Pax has left home and now owns an adventure hotel in Costa Rica. Sage is sent to Costa Rica by the bank that is considering giving Pax a loan.
The non-adventurous gal discovers that with Pax’s encouragement, she in fact loves nature and trying new things.
But things don’t go as planned. They part ways, both unhappy .
These two have issues to overcome. Will they find love, or will they end up going their separate ways, even if their hearts get crushed?
Aside from the main story, it’s also a story about family and the relationship within them . Families are not always easy. Parents words affect the child no matter what age they are . But with understanding and love , harmony can exist.
Looking forward to what else Ms Judd has in store for us.
I must add that the narrator of this audiobook, did an excellent job in her delivery.
I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
How often do we live in our safe little cocoon, instead of taking a risk that if successful will reap rich rewards? This is Sage’s life. Pax reaches out to the bank that Sage works in and the bank sends her to Costa Rica to go over the figures and experience what the hotel offers. Sage steps into the adventure of her life, but will she let her heart take that leap? You’ll love this story and will leave you wondering about your own life!

Romantic Adventure in Costa Rica
This is the first of the Silver Bay series. The tropical Costa Rica location adds an exotic background to a fun love story. The characters all have there flaws and exhibit realistic emotions. The story is fairly clean but for one graphic bedroom scene that was easy to skip over. I have read the second in this series and am looking forward to more from this author. I received a free copy of this book (ARC) and voluntarily chose to share my honest review.
