I dont normally read all clean romances because I like a little steam with my reads but this author writes them beautifully. Its fun and light hearted at times and I really enjoyed this book.

This story is perfect for an afternoon read. It is charming and sweet the way the main characters dance around each other and it takes the best friend to show them what they were missing in each other.

A Twist of Date by Susan Hatler.
Really enjoyed this book. I love this author. I love the cover. 4*.
I love the cover premise for this book with its list of rules. It was exciting which characters we got to revisit from the previous book. I liked the parts in here about being in love with the idea of love. I think it is something that happens way too often and maybe this book should be a required reading for all females launching themselves into dating.
5 stars
I received a free copy of the short novella A Twist to Date (Better Date than Never Series Book 5) by Susan Hatler and this review was given freely.
Ironic humor with a series of one relationship disaster after another fill the pages of this fast paced short work with realistic characters and a theme of change. Fitness instructor Melanie Porter’s best friend and roommate Patti instills “The Boyfriend Bylaws” causing Melanie to confront her relationship fears and insecurities, to start rebuilding family relationships, to stop ignoring her feelings for Matt, and consider a career change.

Struggling with childhood abandonment issues, Melanie seeks a commitment from every guy she dates—even before making sure she likes him. In frustration, her roommate comes up with a list of dating rules for Mel to follow. This time, will she finally find true love?
Mel is such a fun heroine. She’s vivacious and oriented toward making other people happy, yet she’s never a doormat. People aren’t always as good to her as she is to them, so it’s satisfying when she ends up with the man she deserves. This rom com / chick lit has some quirky moments that made me smile, like the employees crowding into the supply closet to listen in on the boss’s conversation. Another fresh and funny read from Susan Hatler!
My thanks to the author for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Rating:
This story was a fun one. I loved the incorporation of friendship in this story. Melanie was a great character and Matt was perfect for her. Patti was a great sidekick who really helped Melanie in finding the “one.” The whole story was amazingly written and was fully enjoyed. It’s a great, quick read for a good lift of spirits.
The story follows Melanie. She’s been dumped again only because she requested commitment. On top of that, she believes that she will never find the one and that she will always fall in love with idiots. One more thing to add to her mess is the fact that she secretly likes her friend Matt who is a complete player. Erica, another one of her friends, went on a date with him and notice that he was playing the field at the same time. That’s why, even though Matt asks, Melanie doesn’t go out with him. Now her friend, Patti, has come up with a series of laws that Melanie has to follow to date or she will lose “Betty” her convertible Volkswagen Beetle. Patti know directs every aspect of Melanie’s love life.
I wrote this voluntary review in exchange for an ARC copy.
Seriously?
For me, it’s always a huge turnoff when an author feels the need to describe a woman’s knockout looks in a romance novel. We are more than that in real life, so can’t we be so in fiction–which is not a visual medium? (And theoretically is written for women who would most likely prefer what is real than a man’s fantasy?) What’s even worse in this book is that the author describes the heroine as looking like a Barbie doll. Please. The way Barbie looks is so unrealistic and would actually be unhealthy in a living, breathing female. Then the author makes it worse. She actually describes her as being dumb, not understanding the difference between Plato and Play-Doh. Really, I can’t believe this author denigrates females so much, and yet she and this book are so popular. I don’t get it. I ended up being just disgusted by this really bad portrayal of women. Yes, I understand that fiction is just a story, but real women struggle with being taken seriously because of the stereotypes perpetuated in this book. Hard pass.
A short romantic comedy that’s perfect for the time you just need a little escape from the everyday mundane. The story line will have you laughing out loud at times and is an enjoyable read. It’s well written and makes it easy to keep turning the pages. The characters are wonderful and just as entertaining. Susan’s writing has never been a disappointment.

Patti’s Boyfriend Bylaws
A Twist of Date is the fifth book in the Better Date than Never series by Susan Hatler. The story of Melanie “Mel” and Matt. Sometimes a good friend and following some rules will finally put you on the right road to finding what you want. At least that is what happens with Mel when her roommate Patti implements The Boyfriend Bylaws after one to many heartbreaks for Mel. What she discovers is that her “one” is much closer than she ever realized.
This is a fun and quick read ………….. nothing heavy just some goodhearted fluff to enjoy.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
No depth. I love this author’s books but this one just didn’t live up to the others. Mel seemed flighty, and the book was too short to get into why her mother did what she did. It ends with Mel calling her mother but we never get to hear her mother’s side of the story. It left the reader hanging. And she realizes at the end of the book she loves Matt and they never have even gone on a date? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
A Twist of Date is another charming
& sweet book in the series.
Mel, is a aerobics instructor at the local
gym. She has a problem thinking
the guy is dating at the time, is the one.
After being dumped again, her roommate
creates the Boyfriend Bylaws for her.
Matt, works at the gym with Mel.
He is always asking her out. But, inside
sources say Matt’s a player. And that is not what Mel is looking for.
I enjoyed everything about the story!
