Can the Ladies of the Wagering Whist Society help sort out a love quadrangle? It’s not that the practical Beatrice Kendrick doesn’t trust her mirror twin, the vivacious and flirtatious Isabel. It’s just that the rebellious Bel has proven herself all too capable of welcoming the attentions of the wrong sort of man. So to keep Bel from getting into trouble, Bee secretly accompanies her when she … accompanies her when she makes her debut in Regency London. Can Bee shield her own heart while trying to protect her sister? And can Bel ensure that her quiet sister gets a taste of the joys of London society – and a chance at romance?
When the broodingly romantic Edward Conway, nursing a broken heart, meets musically inclined Bel Kendrick, she stirs a passion in him he wasn’t sure he could ever feel again after the death of his Italian lover. The strappingly handsome Paul St. Vincent, too, meets the thoughtful and clever woman he thinks is Bel, and she seems to be just the sort of intellectually-minded woman he’s looking for. Only sometimes Edward senses that Bel doesn’t always remember what they’d discussed the last time they met. And at times she is entirely too giggly for Paul’s taste.
Both men, however, have decided that Miss Kendrick is the right woman for him. What they don’t realize is that they’re both right. But it will take a little sleight of hand by the ladies of the Wagering Whist Society to untangle this trick of mirrors.

A delightful adventure of two twins who end up in London Society, when only one was suppose to be making her Debut! Beatrice was the more level headed quiet one and Isabelle was always getting into scrapes and was rather flighty. It was Bel who was going to be out this year and Bee was determined to help her not .
So Bea went with Bel to their Aunt Claire’s house who was going to take Bel to parties and introduce her to society. But she kept herself hidden so nobody would know. Oh yes I was having a vision of “The Parent Trap” but slightly different! Be was determined to help her sister along and make the right choices.
Two gentlemen, were enjoying Bel’s company or was it Bee? Their Aunt Claire was part of the Ladies Wagering Whist Society and that brought another element into the story with all the different characters!
Prepared to be pulled in quickly and anxious to find out what happens with this intriguing story and see how the twins find love! Cannot wait to read the next in this series!
A Trick of Mirrors
Mirror twins (twins who look identical, but are opposite)
Bee (Beatrice) and Bel Kendrick, are staying with their
aunt Claire, the Lady Blakemore, and uncle, Lord Blakemore…one is there for her season, and the other snuck along to protect her sister. The Ladies’ Wagering Whist Society whom Claire is a part of, has a lot of influence on the decisions of the characters in this wonderful book.
Received this ARC and am leaving an honest review.
The characters are strong and well developed with on point personalities that bend and flow. A little bit of deception, but in the end it all works out with the help of the Ladies of the Wagering Whist Society. This is a fun story.
This is a very enjoyable and exciting story. I loved the back and forth between the sisters. You don’t know what to expect from one page to the next. I sure enjoy all the ladies of the wagering whist society. They are so thoughtful and helpful. They don’t steer you wrong. Bel and Bee have such an awesome relationship, they care so much for each other. This book will not leave you bored, I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to end.
Delightful and hilarious story of twin sisters who looked out for each other. Bel and Bee identical in looks but different in personalities. I loved the antics the sisters went through trading places and trying to figure out what the other had said or did. When they each met the men, they were attracted to it was difficult not to show partiality towards either one. Bee was enamored with Paul and Bel was enamored with Edward. These men had a lot to deal with. Paul did not believe in love. He felt comparability was what he was after. But when he was around Bel (who was really Bee) he felt things he could not explain. Edward had been living abroad with his love of six years. She died from cancer two years prior and his sister insisted he go back out in society and find a wife. It was amusing the confusion each man experienced when he was with the opposite twin. I found their switching back and forth hysterical. It kept a smile on my face all through the story. Anyway, when their Aunt found out she was livid. She confided with her friends of the Ladies Wagerin Whist Society and sought their advice. They came up with a brilliant plan. But everything went south when the men Bee and Bel were interested in were fighting over them. They came out of seclusion and swore them to secrecy. The Aunt came up with another plan to introduce Bee to society and it came off without a hitch. A trick of mirrors indeed. An excellent book. I highly recommend.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Exciting humorous sweet regency romance.
A story where twins decided to both come to London for debut season although only one should be there.
Taking turns to attend events, confusing gentlemen with their different personalities.
But all ends in love with the right gentleman for them.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and clean.
This is an interesting story of twins coming out in London society. But the twists and turns, the confusion makes the story interesting.
Great story.
I have enjoyed this series and can be a stand alone. As with most series, there are cross over character’s from previous stories.
This is a unique story that involved mirror twins. Their only physical difference is one is left handed and one right. Their personalities are different, one is more reserved and the other one makes poor choices.
Since the story reverted back and forth between the two h’s, it was hard to feel a connection to the two men. Only one twin was to have her come out so the other twin was to remain behind. Of course, they didn’t do this and that is where the confusion comes in. This also, caused the H’s to be confused because it seemed the h couldn’t make up her mind what she liked or didn’t like. The men are in the dark that there are two different women who would take turns going to different events.
This is a clean story with only a few kisses. One of the H’s has been in love with a women he spent 5 years with, until she died two years previously from cancer. This couple I felt the least connection too. He had a complete turn around very quickly, from still loving his mistress to loving one of the h’s. The other two I felt more of a connection, but not much.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and clean. (ljb)
