All she needs is time away. For him, a coveted promotion will do. After breaking up with her boyfriend, along with the rollercoaster of emotion at home, Izzy needs time away. Not knowing what the future holds, she takes a trip to North Pole, Alaska to spend the holidays where it’s Christmas all year round. Being that it could be her last, she intends to enjoy herself and then go back home and … and then go back home and find out what God’s plan for her life was.
Luke has been praying and working hard for a coveted hotel manager job. When he finally gets promoted to the position, he’s faced with the reality that the demands of his job will take him away from his little girl. Finding a nanny in the middle of the Christmas season would be no walk in the park.
Completely out of options, Luke enlists the help of his aunt who owns a local inn. That’s where he meets Izzy, an out of towner who seems to be taken with his daughter. Except that Izzy is on vacation not babysitting duties.
The lovely child at the inn pulls at Izzy’s heartstrings and as much as she’d like to decline, she can’t. Convincing herself that it’s only temporary, she agrees to watch the young girl.
When sparks fly, Izzy wonders if she’s made a wrong decision in agreeing. The secret she is hiding is bound to tear them apart.
Luke has loved and lost once and sees no second chance at love in his future.
It all seems hopeless … Unless God performs a miracle …

What a sweet, clean romance that will touch your heart as the story unfolds as to why Izzy Davies is spending two weeks in North Pole, Alaska after she sold her townhouse. North Pole sounds like a fun, beautiful place to visit and celebrate Christmas all year long even though it is a fictitious town. Seeing the sites and aurora borealis through Izzy’s eyes makes me want to visit Alaska.
The characters are warm and draw you right into the story. Luke who lost his first wife in childbirth and his adorable daughter, Aurora are just some of the fun people that Izzy meets. I enjoyed how faith was woven into the story with a time to laugh and as the story proves there is also a time to hope. Very inspirational. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. It turned out not to be what I expected. It is very different love story because of Lizzie’s secret about herself & a tragedy that Luke experienced. I loved it too because we’ve been to North Pole, Alaska & Fairbanks but haven’t seen the Aurora. It’s a short book so a fast read. I think you would enjoy it & can learn christian principles by reading it. Ms. Verde is among my favorite authors. I received a free copy from the author. This is my happy, honest, voluntary review.
this is a great story, she is sick , he is a widower and has a little girl. what happens when you pray and let God take control. I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review. it is a little sad but it is all handle very well
Izzy has a tough decision to make and my heart hurt for her. Luke has grief in his that past is keeping him stuck. Loved Aurora and how she and Izzy bonded so quickly. A really sweet romance dealing with some tough topics. Loved the ending!!!
Izzy and Luke have a relationship that defies odds. When Izzy takes a trip to North Pole, Alaska; she wasn’t looking for a relationship. She has a personal reason for her trip, and she’ll only be there for a week, anyway.
When God’s everlasting love is part of the equation, anything can happen.
If you like inspirational stories that deal with the tougher parts of life, then this is the story for you.
A Time to Laugh is a heart warming, Christian romance. Izzy, at a crossroads in her life, leaves home to get some perspective. Luke’s wife dies and he does not intend to bring another woman into his daughter’s life. But magic can happen at the North Pole. Sometimes it is important to trust God and realize that there is a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance. Short, but well written. I loved these characters and their story. I picked it up and by the time I put it down, the story had ended. Do not miss this great story.
Warm and uplifting Christian romance. Izzy, facing a life crisis, leaves home to find her answers. Luke’s hesitant to bring a partner into his and Aurora’s life. Good premise and story. The characters were interesting and the dialog engaging.
Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.
It was a predictable short love story… but predictable isn’t a bad thing. 🙂
Faith and God’s leading were central to the story.
The ending was HFN.
This book will touch your heart. It’s a beautifully written christian romance that shows God is always in control. This book was a joy to read. I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
