Kathryn LeVeque is by far one of my favorite authors. She really outdid herself with this book. I wanted to read it again before I even finished it.
“I think I have loved you since before I met you.”
Alexander de Sherrington, known by his friends as Sherry, is one of the fiercely infamous Executioner Knights. Deadly to a fault and loyal to William Marshall and England, these knights will follow orders without question. William Marshall has surrounded himself with devoted agents, and on their next assignment, he has added “the Ghost” to aid Sherry and his crew to determine what new threat is plotting against King John. While not favored, King John is still their sovereign, and it is their duty to protect him.
Christin de Lohr is smart, witty, fearless and a spy for William Marshall. Known as “the Ghost”, Christin is able to ferret out information in ways a man cannot, and she’s quite deadly if the need arises. Asked to travel to Norwich with Sherry and his men, Christin finds herself growing fond of the legendary knight and surprised he too is falling in love with her. But when King John sets his sites on the beautiful daughter of his long time enemy, Sherry is prepared to do battle against any man, even the king himself, to save his beloved.
For over 25 years, the powerful Christopher de Lohr and King John have been at odds. To keep peace, William Marshall does his best to keep these two apart, but when King John abducts Christopher’s oldest daughter, Christin, to wed his bastard son, there is no power on heaven or earth that will keep vengeance from being sought by Christopher…unless Christin’s love beats him to it…
If you are new to Kathryn Le Veque’s writing, this is the perfect series to start! Le Veque is a master storyteller when it comes to medieval romance, and I devoured this romance in one setting! Anxiously awaiting the next installment and truly wish I could give more than 5 Stars!
Captivating page-turner, with steamy romance!
I loved the characters and story line, which held my attention to make me feel as though I were living it!
Great read. Other than missed proofing errors this story is just as good if not more enchanting than her other works. Couldn’t put it down.
I’m always happy with this author she never disappoints!
The best of the best had me page turning so fast going from shock to laughter and bringing not just Cristin and Alexander together but bringing a family together this way an adventure an emotional adventure in a time so surreal that you just don’t want to come back to reality Kathryn Le Veques is one author that is and will be an inspiration that time will still bring adventures in
Unbeknownst Christopher de Lohr his daughter Christin de Lohr is secretly an agent for William Marshall. Christin is acting as a lady in waiting for Lady de Winter, but she’s sometimes called upon by William Marshal to act as one of his secret agents. Christin is a true de Lohr and does the de Lohr name proud. She’s beautiful, bright, and intelligent and the enemy never knows she’s coming after them. She’s even earned the name “Ghost”. Alexander de Sherrington aka Sherry to all his friends is one of the Marshall’s most lethal weapon. He’s a seasoned knight with a troubled past of his own. He’s heard of the Ghost and has only meet Christin a few times. After seeing her in action he becomes quite intrigued with her despite knowing he’s much too old for her and beneath her in status. The two develop a special friendship that develops out of their respect for each other and love becomes all-consuming as they search to find the traitor to the crown and eliminated the threat. I loved these two they were perfect together, their age difference did not matter, their love for each other was all that mattered in the end especially after they convinced her father to give his blessing on their marriage. An excellent story I loved and I voluntarily wrote a review.
An entertaining tale of Lady Cristin, a daughter of the most powerful earl in England. Unbeknownst to her dear old dad, she has been working as a spy for the sake of England for the past two years. The young woman has gained quite a reputation among their ranks as being extremely good at her job. It is during one of her “assignments” that she meets Alexander de Sherrington, aka “ Sherry”. A knight much older than she, another spy for the crown with a host of life experience, he is widely known as being one of the infamous Executioner Knights. He’s the guy you ‘d definitely want next to you in a fight, but no where near your daughter.
The two become embroiled in a dangerous situation involving the letcherous King John and his intent to use Lady Cristin to obtain control over her father and others. They, along with a group of colorful and entertaining characters, work to outwit and outrun the king and his minions. This action and adventure takes place while Cristin and Sherry begin an unexpected and heated romance.
This is a terrific story that once begun is so compelling it’s nearly impossible to put down. I highly recommend it.
Fall into 13th Century Medieval England with adventure, treachery, humor, an extraordinary love and all that is exciting, as you enter the world of Kathryn Le Veque! Two spies, who work to protect England and King John come together in one of the best stories I have read this year!
One of the deadliest of the Executioner Knights, Sherry is well respected and feared but has a heavy burden of the past. He feels he may never marry but often fate has another plan!
Lady Christin de Lohr, has almost a double life. A lady in waiting for the Queen but more important, she is a spy, the same as Sherry, and has become known as “the ghost” due to her artful escapes.
When they first meet, Sherry is taken with her beauty and intelligence and she with him. But when King has plans to marry Christin off to one of his choosing, he must protect her and finds he wants her for himself!
As always, I love every book I have read by this author and always look forward to her next. Sigh…
Christin de Lohr is secretly a spy in the William Marshall world. Beautiful, smart and deadly. Working on a important mission with the Executioners Knights, Alexander de Sherrington has a chance to see Christin in action and develops a new respect for the lovely Christin. When the King decides that he is going to marry Christin to his bastard son everyone comes together to prevent all out war between the King and Christopher de Lohr Christins father. Alexander (Sherry) is falling hard for Christin this the adventure begins! I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this book! Christin is spectacular and Sherry is is the epitome of the strong handsome knight. I was literally laughing out loud at times and when you read the book you will understand. I have read all of the Executioner Knights books and have loved them all, but this one was definitely special. I wish I could give it more than five stars, definitely a must read!
A Time of End by Kathryn Le Veque is the book that will make you remember why you love Le Veque’s novels, whether you have forgotten or not. Alexander de Sherrington works for William Marshal as a spy/man of all. Unbeknownst to her father, Christopher de Lohr, 18 year old Christin is also a member of his network of spies and has been for some time. The directive right now is to stop a planned assassination of the beloved/much-hated king of England, John. Part of the plan is to keep Christin in the background as John has no qualms about seducing any woman who appeals to him and Christin is more than beautiful. She comes up with a plan and follows it through, but it is too good and John sees right through it. Although he is attracted to her his overlying goal is to marry her to his bastard son, thereby uniting the house of de Lohr to his own and possibly forging an alliance. Can all of this be made to work?
Pretty much all of Le Veque’s novel feature love stories between very young women and older more experienced men. It is a formula that works for her. In this case “Sherry” is older than many and his experience is renowned for being everything a father would not want his beloved daughter involved with. Christin is not one is takes being told what to do very well. “Sherry” has ghosts in his past: his two dead brothers and a father he hasn’t seen in years. The two connect and their story is electrifying. I loved it! all Le Veque readers will love it. It is simply perfect. I highly recommend!
I received a free ARC of A Time of End from Dragonblade in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and inferences contained herein are solely my own.
Cristin de Lara might only be eighteen years old but she’s already been working as a spy for William Marshall for two years. Her nickname is the Ghost because she never leaves a trace. However with her father coming to an important event where she will be working, she will have to be even more careful. If he finds out what she’s been doing he’ll take her home and lock her up to keep her safe.
Alexander Sherrington also works for William Marshall . He is one of the Executioner Knights, with a reputation as the most deadly. They are all working to protect England against all threats, and they are sometimes from surprising people.
This is an absolutely wonderful story. So much excitement and adventure. Our heroine is happy in her work and very good at it. She also knows how important it is to work as a team. They things she does will have you and her fellow characters in stitches. We get to meet up with lots of old friends and great heroes from other books.
As usual this author has us going from giggling to crying, sometimes in unexpected places. I have bags under my eyes today because I could not put the book down until I finished it in the early hours of the morning.
Absolutely Fantastic.
