Cloud Atlas meets Orphan Black in this epic dimension-bending trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray about a girl who must chase her father’s killer through multiple dimensions.Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their groundbreaking achievements. Their most astonishing invention, called the Firebird, allows users to jump into multiple universes—and promises to … multiple universes—and promises to revolutionize science forever. But then Marguerite’s father is murdered, and the killer—her parent’s handsome, enigmatic assistant Paul— escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.
Marguerite refuses to let the man who destroyed her family go free. So she races after Paul through different universes, always leaping into another version of herself. But she also meets alternate versions of the people she knows—including Paul, whose life entangles with hers in increasingly familiar ways. Before long she begins to question Paul’s guilt—as well as her own heart. And soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is far more sinister than she expected.
A Thousand Pieces of You explores an amazingly intricate multi-universe where fate is unavoidable, the truth elusive, and love the greatest mystery of all.

Absolutely loved this. Very effective narrative, very vivid worlds – felt like I was actually there. I’m a total sucker for romance spanning across parallel worlds. This is one of the books that inspired me while writing my Sci-Fi/Romance book “Save Yourself”. Aim for the moon, they say. “A Thousand Pieces of You” is my moon.
Sometimes, you just need a time-travel, science fiction romance on audiobook to get you through a six-hour bus ride from NYC to Boston. This weekend, that audiobook was A Thousand Pieces of You.
I loved this book. I’m jealous of this book!
I was super mixed on this book – there were times I really liked it, and other times I really didn’t. Science fiction based on real physics is always going to be a tough sell for me if the science is not done believably, and I had a LOT of problems with how women in science were portrayed in this. Marguerite’s mom is supposedly the scientific genius behind the technology they use to jump dimensions, but she’s barley represented in the book; instead, all the science geniuses we see the most of were men – including the love interests and villains – and our main character, who is supposed to be smart in her own way, is vaguely interested in art but is otherwise lacking any sort of agency. It was super frustrating and is ultimately why I’m not going to continue with the series. Also, there was a weird thing happening throughout the book where the alternate dimensions, which we’re told are in the same time period as we are in today, are either crazily technologically advanced or have not progressed technologically in over a hundred years, which I thought was strange. This felt like a thinly veiled time travel book, and I was hoping for some more nuance around the multiverse concept.
I loved A Thousand Pieces of You. It was a great first book to an amazing trilogy.
Eeekkk!!!! This was a very fun and adventurous time travel novel. I was so hooked up from the very beginning and it only got better. All the characters were really great and I loved Marguerite and Paul the most. This was most pieced together time travel novel I’ve ever read. Everything made sense and fit so perfectly into the story. A Thousand Pieces of You was very exciting, thrilling, and romantic. A very enjoyable read.
Super easy to read. Super intriguing. The writing style is great and even though the plot could be confusing, it is not. Which is an issue because the plot was very predictable except for maybe one aspect. The storyline could have been better. I read a review where one reader commented on not being able to connect with the characters and I agree. I cared enough about them to want to read the book and not put it down but these are some heavy emotions and I think the exploration of these emotions was lackluster.
