In the small town of Golden Trail, PA, the Fallen Eagles MC isn’t just any group of veterans. They’re patrons of the community, protectors of veterans and townsfolk alike, and a motley group of ex-special forces officers, ex-cons, ex-marines, and ex-Scotland Yard-trained men and women. And their small town and the Philadelphia area aren’t afraid to call on this rough and ready crew to help out on … on a case or two.
Ten years ago, Kit Markham left her high school sweetheart, Lee Devereaux, behind to serve her country. The woman who returns is just a shadow of her former self. She might be the kickass Second of the Fallen Eagles MC, but she’s also damaged—and it’s an unbearable struggle at times, just to make it through the day. The only things that help are her veteran MC, the Fallen Eagles, her family, and long, quiet rides on the back of Lee’s bike.
Lee has his own share of war wounds, but none worse than the burden he’s taken on to see that the Kit he once knew finds herself again.
It’s been over two years since she returned home, and Lee still can’t find the girl he once loved in the woman who’s become so lost. He’s had it with being kept in the dark. He’s demanding answers—but he’s not the only one who’s interested in Kit’s past.
When local soldiers, veterans, and their families start getting threats from a team of blackmailers, Kit’s shocking history is revealed. A twist that has Lee reeling and wondering if what they once had is even salvageable.

Terrible Beauty is such an awesome and heartbreakingly beautiful story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and could not put it down. I found myself wondering about the characters at work and couldn’t wait to get back to them.
So do yourself a favor and read this book.
A Terrible Beauty (Fallen Eagles MC Book 1) by T. Birmingham has me hooked from start to finish.
Not my first read by this author, I knew going in that I was in for a well written, detail hooking read, that would capture me until the very last page. And you know what, that’s exactly what I got!
Strong multi layered characters mixed with an equally strong plot, I can honestly say I was engrossed into this story. And I have to add, this is coming from someone who isn’t a big MC reader. This book, is different, it isn’t like other MC’s and I believe that is what hooked me so. The raw emotions, the graphic scenes, the connections and the flow of this book was, wow. I felt like I was reading an actual world, like I was there looking in. Being in the service myself and having friends that suffer from PDST, I connected in a way most won’t, and seeing it treated with care and raw truth, hit home for me.
With that said I’m going to leave you here, because I don’t want to give anything away. This is a book you need to experience first hand, without spoilers and without bias. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that if you’re not a MC reader like me, I implore you to give this book a chance.
Happy Reading

T. Birmingham took sensitive subject matters and created a wonderful book series, Fallen Eagles MC Series. Book 1 is A Terrible Beauty which is a novella and a great opening to say the least. The way Birmingham brought the characters to life on the page is outstanding. I felt like I was there watching everything transpire. I will have to say that there are some adult subject matters and I would recommend this story to be for older teens (16 & 17) and adults. This story is a suspense and military romance genre. Birmingham sent me on a roller coaster ride with my emotions and found it difficult at some points within the story. When I found that happening I had to reassure myself it was a fiction book. This story is about Kit and Lee and everything around them. I hope you enjoy this story as well as I have and remember keep tissues by you while reading.
The first book I have read by T. Birmingham. Reading about this one really interested me. I was proven right. This book was amazing. I loved that not only is it written amazingly but it is about Veterans trying to start over. This one is about Kit(Summer). She goes through so much while she is serving. She is now home trying to deal with it all one day at a time. Lee the man that has loved her forever is trying to stand by her but she is not making it easy and there are to many secrets being kept. But then the family is attacked Kit being one of them by someone from the past. She receives a letter regarding her past. Kit has to decide if she is finally going to let the past out and save herself and her family . I absolutely loved the storyline, the characters, the chemistry between all of them. I loved the relationship that she has with her sisters. This was an amazing story from beginning to end. So very gripping and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen and how it is going to affect everyone involved. Loved every single character and cannot wait to see more from these characters. I will be reading more. Highly recommend reading this one.
A Terrible Beauty by T. Birmingham is the first book in the Fallen Eagles MC series. I was intrigued by this book after reading the synopsis. You don’t see a lot of MC’s with women as members but the Fallen Eagles has female members and not just to sit and look pretty which I really liked. I also liked that they are Veterans or at least the characters we have got to know in this book.
Kit isn’t the girl she used to be before her deployment. She saw some horrific things and experienced some major trauma but the only thing that has helped her keep it together is the Fallen Eagles and Lee, her childhood sweetheart.
The flashbacks were tough for me to read. It broke my heart to think that we had Soldiers who had similar experiences. I enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next book.

A Terrible Beauty ( Fallen Eagles MC Series Book 1) By T.Birmingham is a Military Romance story and the first in the Fallen Eagles MC Series. This is a wonderfully written book that pulled me from the beginning and kept my attention till the end. My emotions had me feeling like I was on a rollercoaster ride This book is about how war effects different people after war. Kat isn’t the same since she’s been back from war and her high school sweetheart is determined to try and help her. Can these two have a second chance? What happens when her past comes crashing down? Find out what happens next with these two I look forward to reading more from this Author.
A Terrible Beauty is the first book in T. Birmingham’s Fallen Eagles MC Series. It is listed as a novella but it didn’t feel that way to me when I was reading it. It has a lot of content, feeling, and background. The characters were well described, so you got a sense of who they were and their relationships with each other. It was well written, and I cannot wait to read the 2nd book in the series. I highly recommend it, but I do give caution to readers, there is some intense scenes involving sexual abuse and torture, along with some PTSD situations.
The book is largely about Kit Markham and her high school sweetheart Lee Devereaux, though there are a lot of important supporting characters. Both Lee and Kit served time in the military, and while they kept in contact, Kit went through some trauma she has hidden for years from nearly everyone. It has caused a lot of strain on their relationship. While they both love each other, is that enough? Can Kit get through her struggles and allow herself to be happy?

A Terrible Beauty is the first book in the Fallen Eagle MC Series by T. Birmingham. I’m amazed by the amount of details backed into this story. It had me hooked on the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last page. This book has a strong undertone of PTSD and the things that soldiers, both men and women, go through while serving their country. This book features Kit, who is a wounded but so strong female lead. And how she is dealing with being home from war, but can you really leave war behind? And Lee, also home from the war, trying to get back what he a Summer (Kit) had before the joined up. This book deals with deep subjects and the author does a great job defining the way things happen when issues come up. I really enjoyed this first book and am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. I highly recommend this book, author and series.
A Terrible Beauty is book one in the Fallen Eagles MC Series by T. Birmingham. It is one of the best Suspense, Military Romance stories I have read in a long time. It was also incredibly heartbreaking, yet it inspired me too. My heart ached and at the same time, I witnessed a love resurrected, which was stunning.
Kit and Lee both saw and lived through imaginable horrors. They experienced things no person should ever have to experience. Their scars were deep and seemingly impossible to come back from. But Kit demonstrated the sheer strength and endurance of the human spirit. That no matter how beat down and broken a person is, there is hope that somehow they can carve out an existence that will ultimately bring peace and happiness. Lee never gave up and together, after great hardship, found their way back together. Their story was brutal, horrific, determined and the title of it says it all. A Terrible Beauty. It was beauty, in all its stripped down ugliness. 5 stars.
I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed reading books by T. Birmingham. I’ve read a couple of other books, but I have to say that A Terrible Beauty has become my favorite so far.
I absolutely loved the author’s ability to develop the storyline as well as the characters. I fell in love with everything that had to be offered. I can’t wait to see where the author will take this series. This was a definite 5 Star for me.

This is the first book in the Fallen Eagles MC series. This book is Kit’s and Lee’s story. Honestly, I had a little trouble getting into this book at the beginning. However, the more that I read the more I liked it. Yes, this story has romance in it, but I loved the other things in this book more like the healing, acceptance, sisterly love, and the resilience of the characters. These are things that I loved about this book. After I was able to get pulled into this story, it was a fun and quick read that I did really enjoy!
A Terrible Beauty was a good 4 star read and book one in the Fallen Eagles MC series.
We skip from past to present in some scenes as Kit remembers things. Kit chose to serve her country ten years ago, something terrible happened that caused her to come home a different person. She was no longer Summer she was Kit, she also pushed away the one man that had her heart, Lee. She is now a highly respected member of the Fallen Eagles MC.
Lee also served in the war and had his own issues here and there. His biggest was not understanding the change in the love of his life, not having her confide in him and talk to him, feeling like she’s a million miles away.
That feeling of helplessness when you were supposed to be a protector was the worst.
When a blackmailer starts sending threatening notes to people, Kit realizes it’s time to tell everyone what happened. She’s a fighter and refuses to allow anyone to threaten her.
What will happen when the truth is revealed? Will she lose Lee forever? Who is the blackmailer?
There is so much more to this good read. The secrets revealed were shocking and heartbreaking. Kit also suffers from PTSD along with some of the others from her group. There are also some scenes that could cause triggers for some. This author pulled me right in with her writing and I had some teary eyed moments. I look forward to reading more from her.
A Terrible Beauty is a Novella starting the Fallen Eagles MC Series. I thought the book was well written. The author is a new author to me. I haven’t read many books in this genre but, I didn’t dislike the book. It kept me entertained for the most part.
There were quite a few characters in the Novella. There’s the Markham sisters who are Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Summer went to war and experienced something tragic. She came home and her new name is Kit. She doesn’t let anyone call her Summer anymore. She has been home 10 years and has kept secrets that whole time from the 30 hours of captivity. Now her past has come back to haunt her. How will her family and Lee handle the secrets when they are exposed? When Spring is threatened by Kits blackmailer, will they be able to come out on top or will Kit lose a family member on top of everything else?
This was a quick read. Easy to read and entertaining as well. A Terrible Beauty is about the after effects of war on different people. It is also about letting go and hanging on. Freedom. And it’s about Beauty. This story seemed to have many hidden meanings, which made the story interesting to read. It is the first of the series, so I can’t wait to read about the other characters. This is the first book I have read by T. Birmingham and won’t be the last as I enjoyed this story.

“The beauty was that war often revealed the perseverance of the human spirit.”
This incredibly phenomenal book has left me feeling all kinds of emotions. As I sit here writing my review, I feel like I’m at a loss as to what to write, how do you properly describe a book that captures you and holds you captive until the end. A story that fills you with all kinds of emotions, from sadness, anger, hurt, shock, sympathy, disbelief etc. and makes you feel as if you are right there with these characters experiencing every traumatic event they are. A Terrible Beauty is one of the best books I’ve ever read!
I honestly can’t wait to reread this book and I’ve literally just finished it. I would highly highly recommend this book to anyone whose ready to get lost in an unforgettable story!
A Terrible Beauty (Fallen Eagles MC Book 1) by T. Birmingham
4 stars
While the series says MC, this book didnt really have much to do with anything MC like I’ve read before. It really focused on the story of before and now. We don’t get to see much of how things were before to compare to now.
Summer, who now goes by Kit, came back from war a different person. Now someone is sending letters asking for money other wise their secrets from war will be revealed.
What happens when the truth comes out was very surprising but also needed.
I look forward to more in this series.

Kit is a new person and no longer answers to her given name Summer. After being held captive for 30 hours and experiencing life altering torture and embarrassment she can no longer claim to be who she was. Her secret of what happened haunts her and has caused a rift between everyone she loves. Her PTSD from all war related things doesn’t help any and nothing seems to be working to help. Lee her former love doesn’t understand and wants to help. He knows she is keeping secrets but his love for her is deep. I loved both characters and the deep love Lee had for Kit. I was shocked by what she went through. I don’t recommend this book to those who are fain of heart. The torture and things these characters went through in relation to war are very realistic. I loved this novel though and can’t wait to read more from this author.

This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author so I knew I would be in for a good read and as I expected I wasn’t disappointed at all. Apart from the amazing characters and storyline I just adore this authors writing. Her books are so easy to read and she has a way of making her characters really feel like they are real. Her detailed writing captures my attention straight away and I never want to put her books down. I liked that the story wasn’t quite what I was expecting and that actually made it really interesting to read. Usually MC books have a naive female character that gets protected by the alpha male but the female lead in this could absolutely hold her own and had a different story to tell, she has issues in a completely different way. I really fell for Kit’s character and I thought that author did an amazing job with her story; I could feel everything that she did and that really poured off the pages to me as I read about her. Lee also was not what I was expecting and my heart broke for him quite a few times as he struggled with not only his own issues but trying to help Kit overcome hers too.
This was a really touching and emotional read and one that I highly recommend- I am looking forward to reading book 2!
A Terrible Beauty (Fallen Eagles MC Book 1) by T. Birmingham is a second chance romance that is not pretty and not your normal MC story, it is a story of a MC that is a family of veterans. It is a story of the horrors of war that has affected the lives of so many. It shows how vile some people can be.
Whilst no longer part of the war but still a victim, Kit is broken and is forced to finally face her past face to face. A past that has haunted her for years. A past that has destroyed lives.
It is a fast paced story that is hard to read some of the scenes but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I devoured it easily in one sitting. This story will leave you with a heartache but also a warm heart but beware there will be tears. The story is so powerful it had me engrossed to the very end. T. Birmingham is a great storyteller and her characters are easily enchanting with their quirks and all, and your emotions match theirs as we journey along this tough and sh*tty road with them.
So not what I thought it was going to be. But I am not disappointed at all! A Terrible Beauty is the first book in the Fallen Eagle Series by T. Birmingham. Typical MC series are men only clubs. This one has both men and women, which I was happily surprised. All of the club members are former military and some have even served together. Summer “Kit” was captured and held for 30 hours along with Hammond. What happened during that time was a horror no one wants to ever happen. That happened 10 years ago. They have kept that secret from mostly everyone. Kit was supposed to be with Hammond’s brother Leland or Lee. Hammond is married to Kit’s older sister Autumn. The secret between Kit and Hammond has damaged their relationships. As well as the love story between Kit and Lee redevelops throughout the book there is also a mystery that is going on. Someone is trying to sabotage the families of returning military men and women from war. Now that person is targeting Kit, Hammond and Casper. Casper was also with them during the capture. There are so many ups and downs as well as twists and turns. It was an emotional rollercoaster as well. I absolutely adored this book! I cannot wait for the next book in the series. It is no wonder that this author is an International Best Selling Author!
