As far as Thea Michener is concerned, it’s time for a change. With her husband murdered and her much-anticipated baby stillborn, there is nothing left for her in Ladreville. Having accepted a position as Cimarron Creek’s midwife, she has no intention of remarrying and trying for another child. So when a handsome Texas Ranger appears on her doorstep with an abandoned baby, Thea isn’t sure her … heart can take it.
Ranger Jackson Guthrie isn’t concerned only with the baby’s welfare. He’s been looking for Thea, convinced that her late husband was part of the gang that killed his brother. But it soon becomes clear that the situation is far more complicated than he anticipated–and he’ll need Thea’s help if he’s ever to find the justice he seeks.
Amanda Cabot invites readers back to Cimarron Creek for a tender story of loss, betrayal, and love in the majestic Texas Hill Country.

I have loved Amanda Cabot’s books for years. It’s a wonderful historical, romantic suspense novel. Her characters always leap from the pages straight into my heart bringing me into their stories. And what a story! Lots of suspense, romance, and surprises. I highly recommend this wonderful read. You’ll have a hard time putting it down.
A delightful read! Amanda Cabot’s books just keep getting better and better with more depth to the characters and more twists to the plots! Keep them coming, and we’ll keep reading! And if you haven’t tried any of her books yet, I suggest you go back and read the first 2 in this series first before reading this 3rd one!
Third book in the series. I totally enjoyed it. Amanda Cabot can draw you into a book and keep you interested to the last page. This book was the story of Thea Michener. Thea left her town to move to Cimarron Creek after her husband was murdered and she had a stillborn child. She wanted to start a new life. What Thea learns about her husband is shocking. She meets up with Ranger Jackson who thinks that Thea was part of her husbands gang but when he sees her he realizes it is not the women he seen. Ranger Jackson finds a baby near a cactus on his way to Cimarrron creek and brings it to the midwife who is Thea. Will this child bring happiness and love to Thea.? Will Ranger Jackson find love? Great series. Love it all.
In addition to the expertly woven romance I’ve come to expect from Amanda Cabot, A Tender Hope also contains a mystery to solve. Intrigue and suspense add depth to an already complex plot. I liked that the story is told through three points of view: one male protagonist and two female protagonists, one of whom is non-native so her perspective of what it’s like to be in America is interesting. I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Thea and Jackson and appreciated the effort each must make to get over their hurts, assumptions, and fears. Jackson is wonderful-a man’s man without being insensitive. I love his crooked grin, but his integrity and faith are what really attracted me to him. I was sure I had solved the mystery, but the red herrings Ms. Cabot drops into the story fooled me. Minor characters are well-developed enough to remember without being intrusive. A fantastic read with believable characters I can relate to.
I won this book through a random drawing, and a positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.
This is a wonderfully sweet historical romance. This is the third book in the Cimarron Creek Trilogy. I loved all the characters throughout the series. Thea and Ranger Jackson really learn to love one another slowly but surely. I love the bit of intrigue where they are trying to find the mother of the baby that is found and they need to find out who the Gang of Four are. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
A Tender Hope is the final book in a Cimarron Creek Trilogy. A Tender Hope can be read alone, but, after reading it, you will want to go back and read the other two books in the series. The couples from the first two books are included in A Tender Hope. I thought A Tender Hope was well-written with gentle pacing. Amanda Cabot has a casual writing style that engages the reader and draws them into her tale. The Christian elements are nicely integrated into the story. I like that it was light but meaningful. Thea’s story was intriguing. New details are added as the story progresses, and I like how it all tied together. Guthrie and Thea’s romance plays out softly and sweetly. Aimee is seeking answers on her birth parents and she gets so much more (I do not want to give away any spoilers). Nate Kenton and Warner Gray provide humor to the story. Both men are seeking wives and women are scarce in their area. I liked that the author gave many of the females in the story occupations and strong voices. I was very happy that A Tender Hope was not a typical historical romance. There is mystery, suspense and action along with family, friendship, love, and faith. A Tender Hope has a satisfying conclusion that will leave readers smiling.
An uplifting and wonderful story!
This is the third book in this series that I have read and enjoyed, and yes, it can definitely be read alone.
We are back in Cimarron Creek and with newly widowed Thea and a young woman who will become a dear friend, a woman searching for her family, she was adopted and raised in France.
Now we add in some very dashing men, and one a Ranger and of course, a gang doing crime. Also, a new-found baby, what? Yes, can you imagine finding a baby in the desert? Intrigued, this is just a sample of what is waiting once you begin turning the covers of this read!
As the author tells us at the end of this book, this is the end of this series, but we are teased with a new upcoming treasure.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review
What a wonderful conclusion to the Cimarron Creek Trilogy. Although this can be read as a stand-alone I recommend reading the previous books so you will have the background story. This was my favorite book in the trilogy. Ms. Cabot never fails to create a balance between romance and suspense that keeps you hanging on. Her characters have real issues and shattered lives that find hope and new beginnings. She weaves faith within her portrait that leaves you feeling joy when you are finished. You are drawn into the story from the opening line, “She was free.” and from then on you are hooked. You will be reeled into a story that won’t let you go until the end. You will leave this series with a feeling of sadness as you will love the characters and a feeling of happiness at looking forward to what’s next.
I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

All Thea wants is a fresh start in life. With the help of Aimee, her is looking for her birth mother, they head to Ciimarron Creek. Jackson wants to find the outlaws who killed his brother. When he eliminates Thea as a suspect they work together to find the Gang.
What a great conclusion to the Cimarron Creek Series. I recommend the entire series for all who like mystery and romance.
I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
An enjoyable historical romance novel. This is the third book in the Cimarron Creek series. I did not read the first two books in the series, and I feel this book can be read as a stand alone novel. The story takes place in 1881 in Cimarron Creek, Texas as Thea Michener arrives in town to start a new life as the town’s midwife after the death of her husband and stillborn son. Thea finds herself face-to-face with Texas Ranger Jackson Guthrie who is in town to investigate and search for members of the Gang who were wanted for various robberies and murders. Jackson tries to piece together the clues and what link Thea has to his investigation.
I liked the storyline and interactions between Thea and Jackson, but felt myself wanting to get through the secondary storyline of Thea’s friend and traveling companion Aimee and some of the other secondary characters to get back to the main storyline of Thea and Jackson. It didn’t hold my interest as much as the parts with Thea and Jackson. Fans of 1880s historical fiction will enjoy this novel.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Revell Publishing and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
Stories with Texas Rangers typically catch my interest and this one did as well. Jackson Guthrie’s latest case brought him into the same sphere as midwife Thea Michener and it was interesting watching their relationship change from mistrust, to friendship and something more. The beautiful covers on all three books do not hint at the danger and intrigue that will keep the reader turning pages. Loved how this series conclusion tied up loose threads relating to several townspeople.
A Tender Hope, the third and last in the Cimarron Creek Trilogy was all I thought it would be and more — if that’s even possible. I love Amanda Cabot’s books. She always creates a beautiful love story with intriguing characters — Thea and Jackson are two such characters. My only disappointment is that there won’t be a fourth in this series. If you haven’t read this book, it’s a must read!
I really enjoyed The Tender Hope. It was a great wrap up of the series. I liked how Ms. Cabot tied up the few loose ends from the other two books and added an interesting twist. Great story!
This evenly-paced novel allowed me to walk alongside Thea Michener on her journey of hope. Her dreams of a happy future died when her husband was murdered, and her son was stillborn. The only way she could see to escape the pain was to move to Cimarron Creek and continue her profession as a midwife.
Thea and her new friend Aimee Jarre make a great team as they travel together. Thea desires a new beginning, and Aimee is searching for her biological mom. It’s easy to connect with these two ladies as their friendship grows. Cabot developed her characters well. While Thea’s new friends find love and happiness, the last thing she needs or wants is to marry again or have another baby.
Jackson Guthrie, a Texas Ranger shows up at Thea’s house with an abandoned baby, expecting the town’s midwife to take care of the boy. Thea is still mourning her loss and finds it difficult to hold the baby, much less take care of him. She admires the handsome Ranger but can’t fathom the possibilities of another relationship.
Jackson suspects Thea is involved with a gang that robs stagecoaches and trains, but when he tracks her down, he surmises she’s innocent. He’s not looking for a relationship but is intrigued by Thea. He learns Thea is in danger and finds himself serving as her protector.
The twists are unexpected as Cabot successfully solves each mystery and sets the match-making stage. The action was steady and believable. I can normally figure out how the story will unfold, but A Tender Hope kept me guessing.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
3.5 Stars
Amanda Cabot welcomes readers back to Cimarron Creek, Texas. While A Tender Hope can be read as a standalone, readers will get more out of it if they read the first two books first. Or at the very least, A Borrowed Dream because there is some story carry over into the third and final book in the series.
When Thea Michener accepts the position of midwife in Cimarron Creek, she is ready for a fresh start away from the memories of her husband and child. Along for the ride is Aimee Jarre who is searching for her birth mother. The last thing she expects to find on the steps of her new home is a Texas Ranger with an abandoned baby in his arms.
Between Thea’s past, Aimee’s search, and Jackson’s investigation into a robbery gang who just might have ties to Thea, there is plenty happening to keep the storyline moving. But there’s even more than that with the newcomers’ introductions to the townspeople and the abundance of romance.
While the first two books in the series had some crime and violence, this one included murder (one of which also included some torture of a woman). While the details are glossed over fairly well, there was a vivid picture painted in mind. Overall, the bad fail, the good win, and the guys get their gals. Exactly what I am looking for in my romance reads.

Reading the book, set in a small village in Texas, you feel like at home, with simple and busy people , each with a different past,
different dreams, but a sense of help and justice.
The story seems so real that you’ll hope, thinks, love the characters, funny misunderstanding between the two boys.
The book is well written, easy and fast to read, sometimes scary, sometimes romantic.I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading it.
I appreciate the map of the village and the family tree at the beginning of the book.
the cover is nice, with a young strong woman, with hope to the future.
sure, I’ll read another books of this author.
I have always enjoyed Amanda Cabot’s novels and A Tender Hope was not exception. I read and reviewed the first book of the Cimarron Creek Trilogy and the second volume is still waiting on my TBR stack. I loved both of the ones I’ve read so much I can’t imagine how I’ve resisted the other one so far. Probably because I have a tendency to commit myself to so many reviews that often books I want to read have to wait in line.
The reader will get everything she hoped for and more in this lovely western romance. As is often the case in Cabot’s novels, there might just be more than one romance brewing and of course there will be a touch of comedy and enough danger, suspense, and surprises along the way to keep those pages turning. Wonderful characters including familiar faces from the previous two books and a well-paced plot that includes a non-intrusive message of Christian faith satisfied every expectation I have for a perfect reading experience.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
This is the third and final book in the Cimarron Creek series and I suggest reading them in order because there is a carry over of the storyline into the next book. I very much enjoyed this series, hard to put down. There were surprising twists and turns in this series and I enjoyed the suspense.I have read all of this author’s historical books and look forward to seeing what she puts out next.

The last in a Christian historical fiction series that wraps things up in Cimarron creek 1881. Thea’s husband was killed. She’s a midwife and takes Aimee with her to Cimarron Creek. Jackson is a Texas Ranger looking for the gang who killed Thea’s husband, and maybe he’s looking for Thea too. An investigation he finds to be with ties near to his heart. Aimee is hoping to find her mother, and finds so much more. Nice romance and showings of faith. An interesting, satisfying and entertaining read.
