If you like Hallmark Christmas movies… This book is better than the movies Hallmark makes. I adored this book. I got to give props to Mrs. Melodie March she knows how to write kids with personally without making winny or to grown up
Will I continue the series? yes
A wonderful and heartening second chance romance in the beautiful Wintervale setting. A glorious and sweet Christmas romance than leaves your mouth watering and your heart full. Great themes of family and forgiveness and future with some humor woven in.
Book one in the Wintervale Promises a well written second chance story. This is James Everley, Daisy Everley his sweet daughter, and Annabelle Harrison’s story. I enjoyed reading a story that held my interest from cover to cover. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There was so much yummy food and desserts in this story. It made me want to take up baking starting with Belle’s cookie recipe at the the end of the book. James’s daughter Daisy was so sweet, funny, and full of energy. Belle’s energetic grandmother was a riot. I’d never heard of a store just for cats before. Their second chance at romance was filled with misunderstandings and miscommunications. But it also had plenty of sweet moments. This story would perfect as a Hallmark holiday movie.
Annabelle leaves Wintervale to go to culinary school, then on to Manhattan where she co-owns a popular and critically acclaimed restaurant. She broke James’ heart when she left. James stays in Wintervale, gets married, and has the cutest and most precocious daughter. When his wife dies in an accident, he decides to go ahead with her dream, and buys the inn, opens the restaurant, and plans to renovate the hotel part. Annabelle comes home shortly before Christmas when her grandmother needs help after an accident, and of course, they run into each other. The sparks are still there, and his daughter really likes Belle, but will she be after Christmas? This was a super nice book – such great chemistry between Belle and James. His daughter is a real sweetie, and so perceptive. It’s a really nice journey toward their happy ending. And bonus points for the yummy-looking recipes at the end of the book!

This sweet Christmas read enthralled me right from the very first page with the well written storyline and well created characters which made this book a very enjoyable and entertaining read!
I enjoyed reading this story not only because it has the magic of Christmas but because I think this couple definitely needed and deserved a second chance. Their stubbornness and resistance was entertaining, fun to read and not overdone. I like both characters, I also like that the drama is minimum and doesn’t consume their heartwarming second chance. I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC copy that I requested from Candid Book Reviews.
