“Will seduce the reader right off the bat.” — Perfect for fans of POLDARK and DOWNTON ABBEY – Readers’ Favorite Book Award Winner Finalist in the IAN BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD for Outstanding Historical Fiction
He was later to become known as “The most beautiful and most famous man in England” — but not yet….As a boy he thought his name was George Gordon, but that wasn’t true. He thought … he thought his name was George Gordon, but that wasn’t true. He thought he would grow up poor, but that also wasn’t true. Long before he rose from obscurity to poetic stardom and became Britain’s first superstar, he had learned that his true surname was Byron
Although presented in Novel form and cloaked in the style of fiction,, this is the true and meticulously researched story of the most iconic superstar of his time – Lord Byron. Ignoring all the old and unproven rumours and sensational scandals fabricated at the time of the 19th Century, which have been regurgitated by biographers every generation – all the events in this book come from the people who physically were THERE with Byron at the time. If they were not there, or did not write about it, or did not see the events as eyewitnesses – they are NOT included in this book.
Beginning when he is a boy of ten years old, we join George Gordon when he is living a miserable life with his manic Scottish mother in a few rented rooms above a shop in Aberdeen, unaware that his true heritage is with the English aristocracy – who soon come to claim him.
A life of wealth and privilege is then bestowed upon him, which eventually sets the stage for him to prove his own individual worth, in his own way, and in his own time.
Meticulously researched, and adapted into novel form, ‘A Strange Beginning’ is the first of a series of books about the most iconic young man of his time, whose fame still lives on today.

Loved the story. It kept me up all night until I finished it.
Interesting, but sad.
A thoroughly enjoyable book.
Very interesting approach to a(n) historical person and insights to his life and character. I was sad to see it end.
Fascinating to look into the life of Lord Byron whom I didn’t know much about. It was fascinating
The beginning was very good. Then it lagged. I couldn’t finish it.
True History.. loved it. So I dove into the second of the series.
For all those who enjoy historical novels this is an excellent read!
I thought it was great. I never-ending knew much about Byron & learned a lot from your book. Thank you.
I read the whole series in a weekend!
Loved it! Reading #2 and #3.
I don’t normally read biographies, but Lord Byron’s story was interesting. The book was well- written, I couldn’t put it down!
Who knew that Lord Byron’s early life could be such an entertaining and riveting read. Skillfully woven story that kept me in its grip from start to finish.
Nicely done fictionalized biography. But I won’t pay $14.99 each for the next installments
Very readable biography of George Gordon, Lord Byron. Gives the background for his works by tying them into his life events. Eager to read the rest of the series.
You can stop reading this series once you start. It is a 4part series about the poet Lord Byron. It has all his letters to different people. His life is so tragic. He is very handsome and has a terrible mother. You keep hoping things will improve but he is kind. People take advantage of his kindness. You move from one book to the next.. It is just a continued story that you can not stop. I am waiting for book 5in April. So once you start you will not stop.
From a biographical perspective there is much fictionalized dialogue. But the research is evident and it gives an interesting look into the complicated life and intriguing poetry of Lord Byron. You don’t have to be a fan of his poetry to appreciate his struggles and triumphs. A quick and enjoyable book.
Enjoyed this! Insight into Lord Byron’s life, works and wit
I read this from curiosity but finished it from awe and joy. The book is fabulous because Byron was an interesting and amazing person, nothing like how he is portrayed in most period novels. I loved this book and the poetry in it and highly recommend it.
I enjoyed this book.
