From NYT Bestselling Author A.L. Jackson… of lust, and their passion refuses to let them up for air.

If her history is dragged from the depths, it could tear his world apart. He has to decide if she’s worth fighting the tide or if they should just sink like a stone in the sea.

I love when I find a new author. This is a great rocker romance and the first I’ve read by AL Jackson. It was full of angst and heart break that I could feel. As soon as I finished, I one-clicked the next book. The voice of the narrators were spot on for the characters and made for a great listen. I highly recommend!
One of my all time favs!!!
*****************SPOILERS************************
First of all I want to say that I am an huge AL Jackson fan, so any book released by her is an one-click for me! Normally I absolutely despise books with cliffhangers and don’t read them until the rest of the series is released. BUT I made an exception for AL, even though I knew I would go crazy by the end of the book.
I NEED DROWNING TO BREATHE!
ASITS sucked me in from the beginning to the end (I am still sucked in, I cant get out PLEASE HELP!! –> give book #2. I had so many questions so many ideas/guesses about what was going on with both Baz and Shea. Some thing I guessed right others I did NOT! I love it when I cant predict all of it, I love being surprised (and oh boy I definitely was!).
Baz is one angry individual with great friends, but has a lot on his shoulders. Shea was a breath of fresh air and he was hooked right away! Shea also has great friends (roommate April, friend Tamar and uncle Charlie). Kallie is the cutest little girl that I want to hug and never let go.
There was so much explosion between Baz and Shea, I felled every spark. I was so depressed when Baz left Shea and went back to California. SO happy that he couldnt stay away and came back to his love Shea. What I also really liked was that Shea was honest about her feelings towards baz even though she knew he would leave. I felt like we had more insight into Baz’s life and demons than we did of Shea’s, so I am really looking forward to knowing more about what happened to her (we got a little glimpse at the end, DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!!!!!!!). Such a mindf*ck.
THANK YOU AL JACKSON FOR THIS EPIC/UNIQUE STORY!
Dark. Light. Heavy. Soft
Think book was more of a 4.5/5 stars the second time around, but I will say I did love it a lot more after my second read.
I did not think I was going to like this book as much as her other books because I’m not really into the rocker thing, but A.L. Jackson does not disappoint. I really enjoyed the story and found it to be interesting. I also like how her characters did not sit around feeling sorry for themselves either. Baz was able to eventually open up to Shea and share all his dark secrets with her because he finally figured out what he wanted out of life despite all he chaos happening in his personal life. I found that I connected to his character and became invested and seeing what would happen next for him. Shea I guess is a whatever character, but I did love reading about her love for her family and being completely understanding towards Baz and his secrets while she harbored a secret of her own. I did not like that she became an emotional tragedy halfway through the story.
The writing is absolutely beautiful in this book. A.L. Jackson does a great job displaying each characters emotions both emotionally and physically. This is why I love reading her books so much. I will say that the use of words in “threes” did throw me off, but I eventually found it to be quite poetic and to fit the music element of the story. And …DAMN … Amy for that cliffhanger that I kinda saw coming but did not expect MJ to a part of. I mean her secret wasn’t that dramatic or shocking or anything but it adds a crazy mix to Shea and Baz’ relationship. I cannot wait to finally pick up Drowning to Breathe.
Amazing
This book was such an amazing and captivating story that it gripped me from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Sebastian and Shea was off the charts and filled with so much emotion you’ll be begging for more. So looking forward to the next book.
Tortured sexy rock star and a sweet southern belle. Throw in a cute bug and you’ve got one heck of a story. The tension, sexiness, sweetness, some angst and an OMG… what just happened…. You’ve got a 5 star read. Highly recommend reading this!!!
Great story line with some unexpected twists
I like the twist on conventional lore.
Good read kept me entertained till the end.
Rock star love story with twists, must read book number 2 after this one.
I liked this book, but was frustrated that it is not a freestanding book. The story carries over to the next book, which I don’t have.
I love every book keep them coming i shall keep reading!!
It ends in a cliff hanger and I didn’t see it coming so was somewhat disappointed
This book turned out to be nothing like what I expected. Very good and couldn’t put it down. Is is a cliffhanger so will have to wait for book 2 to see how it ends
Great book, loved Baz so much but I hate, hate, HATE cliffhangers.
My favorite quote in the book has to be the advice Shea’s grandmother gives her before she passes. “Find love and bring it here” and that’s exactly what Shea does with the hardships she goes through and the messy word of paparazzi and fame she was able to find love so passionate that she was able to complete her grandmother’s wishes. This book made me cry I don’t spoil it but you will hate characters with a passion wishing they burn in the pits of hell. You will also fall in love with the characters and fall in love with their love it’s a beautiful love story.
Audio review from 2018
Ends on a cliffhanger FYI
I really enjoyed this story. It was two broken souls coming together to make each other whole.
A Stone in the Sea is Sebastian (Baz) and Shea’s story. Baz is escaping the recent drama from L.A. by seeking a safe haven in Savannah. He strolls into the bar that Shea works at and KABOOM the electricity between these two is sizzling. They both have secrets but the pull between them is irrefutable. After resisting Baz’s advances Shea finally relents. Their relationship is built on secrets and lies by omission but they just can’t help but catch feelings for each other. Their chemistry is undeniable and their interactions are like a match to a flame. There’s no spoilers here but just know this is a great beginning to this series. A.L. has such a way of describing things that she paints a vivid picture of the characters and the feelings that drive them. She is the queen of gut wrenching emotions. Her books always seem to take unexpected twists and turns but the ending of this one was like a sucker punch. I so didn’t see that coming. There are always interconnections between the main and side characters that weave an intricate web of secrets and lies. You can’t help but want to know what’s going to happen next. I just couldn’t put this book down.
If you want a book that is original, unexpected, with loveable and loathable characters and a storyline that just keeps you guessing, this is the book for you. Come meet the Sunder boys, they’re cocky, arrogant playboys with soft centres, you won’t regret it I promise.
This was a fantastic listen! I loved the book and this audio reread reminded me exactly why I fell in love with this story!
I LOVE the characters and the emotions in this one. This author is a little too poetic and tragic for binge reading as it’s like an emotional hangout once you finish, but it’s still amazing!
