Enjoyable and funny as all get out just like the rest of the series. I will say that after reading the blurb I was thrown for a loop with the “twist”. After realizing that it was going to be the basis of the story and not just lasting a few chapters, I was boggled by the blurb (yes I went back and read it again). I thought it was going to be only for a few chapters and then it clicked where it was going. I definitely laughed out loud tons of times while reading Hannah and Brix’s story and loved the epilogue.
A Sticky Situation Missy Johnson is book 7 in the Awkward Love Series. This is the story of Hannah and Brix. I have read the previous book but felt you could make this a standalone book.
Hannah and Brix have their first encounter when their hotel rooms get mixed up. While Hannah is trying to get a break from her hectic and needed family she thinks to do some ‘self care’ but gets caught by Brix. Brix thinks that Hannah is someone else especially with what he caught her doing. They have a few more mis-runins / misunderstandings. So things have to clear up but the steamy encounters keep it hot.

I am brand new to this series, but A Sticky Situation can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed this story. The characters are likable and the storyline flows well. I think I am going to have to read the first six books now!
I was super intrigued about this book thanks to the blurb. I just couldn’t imagine the circumstances that would have to happen to have that blurb. Ms. Johnson did manage to get the stars aligned (or misaligned?) to have such things occur. This was the first book I’ve read of hers; and despite this being book seven in the Awkward Love series, it can be read as a standalone.
Our plot follows Hannah and Brix as their lives intertwined in the most absurd manner to begin with, then in more professional, then personal ways. It’s a crazy situation rockstar romance, I guess. The blurb was a great set up for the book, which was full of situational comedy and awkward romance. I enjoyed all the plot twists though it felt a bit too contrived, and hopefully not possible in real life.
Our heroine is Hannah…a lovely woman who needed to let off some steam, alone. Why a hotel room? Because she’s a good sister and has been letting family crash at her place; which leads to a most unique way of the reader being introduced to her sister and niece. She seems like a well educated person who has a career path, if a bit down on her luck and love. So when she takes some time to herself, the last thing she expects is to be given the wrong hotel room, and encounter a sexy rockstar. Especially a sexy rockstar she then has to work with professionally that week! Brix is a tortured soul, a creative artist, a floundering brother. He’s got issues that have issues, and they all seem to come to a head and need dealt with at once. Our first glimpses of him paint him as a narcissistic rock god, but we learn more about him and his mysteries issues; he becomes a man trying to right wrongs in all the wrong ways. Both have some serious family issues that crop up to create problems for both. Neither handle them well, and it makes them both lovely flawed characters, but also over the top flawed and a bit unbelievable.
Despite all the reasons the two should not work, Hannah and Brix have some crazy chemistry. The relationship is fraught with pitfalls and potholes, wrong decisions and misinformation. But they don’t lack in pheromones. I wasn’t totally on board with all of their relationship antics as the outrageous situations made it a bit hard to believe, but it seemed to work for them.
The pace of the book was fairly steady, fast paced comedy and romance, but the details were hard to keep straight and the ancillary characters a bit hard to keep track of. I wanted to keep reading and see how the story played out; but the believability made it hard to get sucked in.
Ms. Johnson wrote a funny book, and I enjoyed the overall plot. But there were too many over the top moments, not just things that would happen for a rockstar; but also their family, work, and in life. They were all great writing, but in such a combination didn’t work for me. I think I liked the blurb better than the book.

This is the seventh book in the series of standalone books and just like all the rest was amazing. Missy Johnson has a way with words that keeps you engrossed until the very last word and even then you are wanting more.
Hannah is in need of her space back mainly from her family. She has gone way to long without satisfying herself because of sister and niece. So, her best friend takes it upon herself to make sure Hannah has privacy to do just that, the only problem is when Hannah is almost to her climax she is once again interrupted. However, this time it is from someone she least expects, a celebrity. Hannah soon realizes she may never live it down because said celebrity is sent to the facility that she works at.
Nate has a huge heart and is a perfect match for Hannah. He is very witty and almost always has a come back to the things Hannah throws at him. Will their chemistry out way the sticky situation that the end up in?
I can’t wait to see what Missy comes up with next.
I swear I am loving this series so hard!! I wish I had found Missy sooner because I’m so far behind on her books it’s gonna take me forever to catch up, but I will!! These books are so funny with that touch of romance that just makes the perfect book for me. This are my favorite types of books. And Missy’s writing is pure gold!! And I can’t wait for the next book!! And these are total stand alones. If you like or love romcoms this book would definitely rate very high on your list. Unfortunately 5 stars is all I’m allowed to give it or I would go higher. So I definitely recommend this book. – By Tina
I have to start out by saying there is a HUGE twist in the story which was strange yet interesting. I for one enjoyed it but I know some other readers didn’t like it as much. I’m always up for a game changer, something that makes the story less predictable and that is exactly what Missy Johnson has done here and I applaud her for it.
A STICKY SITUATION is the seventh book in the AWKWARD LOVE series but it can be read as a standalone, as a matter of fact the entire series can be read in any order. I have been reading them as each book has been released and have seen some minor characters from previous books getting their HEAs along the line but that does not mean that they need to be read that way.
In this book we have Hannah and “Brix” and unlikely pair right from the start but their first encounter will leave you in hysterics. I swear I don’t know how Hannah always found herself in the most uncompromising positions but it was hilarious.
If you’re in the mood for a story that will have you laughing out loud on more than one occasion I say grab this book, heck grab any of the books in the series, you wont be disappointed! Happy Reading!!!
**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine’s Obsessed with Books**
4.5 Sticky stars
Hannah is just about to do her nut in….she has her sister and niece staying with her…and getting off is harder than she ever imagined! When her bestie Lou decides to treat her to a stay in a hotel for a night so she can have some privacy…..it all goes wrong Suffice to say she ends up in the wrong room and has an audience of one….who is none other than the rock star Brix Wilson. Hannah leaves mortified that he saw her trying to get her rocks offBut she will never see him again, or so she thinks. Next time she sees him will be at her place of work.
Brix has been ordered to a rehab facility after he was caught with drugs. But he asks his brother Nate to help him out….boy could it go more wrong…..but then Nate meets Hannah
Hannah and Nate get caught in a very sticky situation and watching them get out of it while trying to get ahold of Brix is worth all the anxiety to read the ending Great awkward series and look forward to more.
