Ivy Kidman’s dream is to assist the big movie producers, and when a billionaire hires her to make a commercial for his son’s island romantic resort, she can’t turn it down. After meeting the owner of Cupid Island, however, she’s definitely ready to turn around and go home. How dare he call her accident-prone when he is the one falling all over himself? As she works closely with the handsome man … man who makes her laugh, she slowly starts to change her mind.
Steele “Cupid” Holliday is frustrated with his father for sending the determined woman to his island. His father insists that Steele needs to be in the commercial, but he’s not a photogenic man and he wants Ivy to leave and never come back. However, his competitiveness kicks in when she proves to be just like him, he wants to keep her around a little bit longer… just to see who wins. He feels himself losing quickly, especially when his heart becomes involved.

A Star Sweetly Gleaming (previously titled Cupid Takes A Wife) is a story full of laughs. Gordon Holliday owns resorts named after each of his sons who by the way are named after Santa’s reindeer and the last after none other than the spreader of love, Cupid. Gordon has hired Ivy Kidman of Montana to come to Alaska to film a commercial for Cupid Island. Cupid was against the idea of a commercial and definitely against Ivy Kidman. As they work together seeing and enjoying everything of the island it works its magic on Cupid and Ivy and they become the couple in the commercial. It also fills a wish Gordon has for his son to run the island and to get him a good wife that can help. A charming and sweet love story.
I have enjoyed every book in this fun series I have read but this one might be my favorite. I appreciate the clean romance with wonderful characters that “fall all over” each other in the beginning. The spark is there in the beginning as the two compete against each other in so many fun activities. This one is full of smiles from beginning to end.
This is the first book I’ve read in this series and I’m so glad I did. I love the theme of the 9 reindeer/sons. So fun. Steele (Cupid) and Ivy have quite the meet cute. Luckily Ivy is determined to get her way and she turns it around. These two have so much chemistry. It’s a really fun sweet read. Now I’m anxious to read the rest of the series.
A match made in Christmas land? What are the chances a girl named Ivy (her mother named her daughters Holly, Ivy and Noelle) and a guy with a middle name of Cupid (his father named all his sons after Santa’s Reindeer) meet? Is it an instant attraction? Well overlook the coffee spill and bumping into the magazine rack and maybe they could be civil!
They literally bump into each other before getting on a plane to go to Cupid Island resort where Ivy had been given the opportunity to help make a commercial to promote the island. Little did she know that Mr Hottie she bumped into and was flying on the same plane was Steele “Cupid” Holliday (yes it keeps getting better!)
To say they clashed at first is an understatement, but eventually they could not avoid the sparks as they were around each other..
A wonderful romance that shows you just never know when you will find your next true love!!
Ivy wants to be a film producer and gets hired by Gordon Holliday. Steele ‘Cupid’ Holliday wants nothing more then Ivy to leave his island, he doesn’t need a commercial. Their first meetings are not very good but later on their competitive minds kick in. Who will win, who will lose, or maybe the will both win something and lose something.
Fun story about one of the brothers finding love, love the Alaska setting of this series.
Hallmark worthy story with love, romance, adventure and surprises. Wonderful addition to an excellent series.
A really cute, fun Christmas story. This is the first book in this series I’ve read. I liked it. I can’t imagine naming my kids after Santa’s raindeer. At least Cupid has another name, Steele. Ivy & Steele start on the wrong foot, for sure. It’s cute how the friendship & love develop, however. Well worth the time to read. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.
Cupid Takes a Wife is s sweet and funny, clean romance. Who names their sons after reindeer? How did they know there would be nine of them? The Holiday Islands Resort series is ten books from various authors. I have really enjoyed the ones I read. I really liked Ivy and understood Steele’s reluctance to be photographed. This is a sweet story – just long enough for a perfect reading pick me up when you need to escape!
You have to develop a thick skin when your father names you Cupid. It is no wonder that Steele felt his father didn’t value him even though his brothers also had reindeer middle names. I enjoyed the interaction between Steele and Ivy. They both have lots of barricades up to prevent falling in love but fortunately love finds a way. Marie Higgins has given us another good book.
I really enjoyed this book. It held my attention throughout.
I loved the lively banter and betting which in the end they are both winners. laughter aplenty, sparkling dialog that left me with a smile on my face.
