Would you recognise love when you saw it? Cordelia Honeyfield has been sent to the seaside ‘for her health’ – and the last thing she wants is the meddling nonsense of a country doctor. Her wild spirit is frowned upon by the ton, and familial embarrassment now means she’s stuck at the beach in a brisk March wind, waiting to meet this doctor as she promised her father.Dr Timothy Walsingham is about … Walsingham is about to meet a new elderly patient – a Miss Honeyfield whose letters have had him in stitches. As he waits by the sand, a beautiful woman catches his eye, and he begins a conversation that will distract him from his practice, from his patients . . . and his reason.
Can a chance meeting of mistaken identity lead to something more? Will Cordelia ever reconcile with her family – and can Dr Timothy Walsingham make this springtide meeting one that they will both never forget?
A Springtide Meeting is a sweet Regency romance about the strange coincidences that fate deals us, and whether we are brave enough to take them.

A nice and easy read that will transport you through time itself. I found I was quickly immersed in this wonderful story.
When Miss Cordelia Honeyfield is sent to the coast for her health, to be overseen by Dr. Timothy Walsingham, she is irritated when the illusive Doctor avoids meeting her. In a case of mistaken identities and misunderstandings, Cordelia and Timothy discover in each other far more than they originally anticipated. In this sweet Regency romance, Cordelia is seen as an anomaly with her high spirits and energetic escapades and her father sincerely hopes that the sea air and Dr Walsingham’s intervention will quieten her exuberance. When Timothy finally realises their error, he is not at all sure that he wants Cordelia to be anything other than who she is. The story is a delightfully clean romance with humour and intrigue, and can be read by any age group.
This was a really sweet and fun quick read. The characters were all really fun and I enjoyed seeing how the story unfolded and will probably read this story again in the future.
Having never met both Miss Honeyfield and Dr. Walsingham are suffering from misconceptions of each other, expecting person the total opposite of who they really are. After suspending belief (the first meeting between a doctor and a patient at a sea promenade) this is a cute short story with good dialog. The mischievousness of Cordilia Honeyfield gives the reader an inkling of why her father insists she be sent away to see this doctor.
Delightful & Romantic Novella
A very Delightful Novella.
I enjoyed the characters & how they met. I look forward to reading more in this series.
A cute story–fun to read
Starring Cordelia Honeyfield and Dr. Timothy Walsingham.
Tropes: Mistaken identities. Sweet, clean, and kissing only.
This was my first Emily Murdoch story and I quite enjoyed it. First of all, I liked that Timothy and Cordelia were non-peers. That was refreshing. I also liked that they got to really know one another before they found out their real identities. They were such sweet couple.
I can’t wait to read more of Emily Murdoch’s books!!
4 stars: Book was great. Loved the characters. Storyline kept me entertained… but did not make me cry.
A refreshing, romantic little love story!
This was the love story between Timothy and Cordelia, set in Weymouth. It was a lovely short story. The story focused on the conversations of the primary characters. The dialogue was quick-witted and fast paced. The push and pull between the two characters was electric. The characters themselves were well developed for such a short story. The plot moved well. I loved the backdrop of the sea, it was such a refreshing change from London. The connection between the two was electric, you could feel the attraction between them. I utterly enjoyed this quick read and look forward to reading the next book in this series and her other series as well. I would recommend this novella to anyone who enjoys sweet historical romance.
I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
3.25 stars
Likable character’s. He knew where she was staying, but didn’t stop in and meet her. She knew he was a doctor, but didn’t try and ask anyone about him. It is a simple story line, no big issues really.
As others have stated, I thought the father would have more of a reaction. This is a clean story, with a few kisses.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and clean. (ljb)
For me the book was a bit slow. The two meeting several times a appointed times yet not realizing they are meeting each other. It was too much and to book was drawn out even though it was a relatively short book.
There’s a good deal I enjoyed about this book. The two main characters were truly enjoyable and the setting was pleasantly different. Surprising actually as it was something away from London. Weymouth was actually a location I didn’t know about being a popular tourist/destination resort for the ton to escape London, and I do enjoy reads that teach me knew historical information given my love of devouring historical research. However, a small downside to me loving historical research is the bit about the corsets being worn so tight women were fainting, and suggesting this was due to French fashions being popular, made me cringe.
Much of my research into 18th century France and England has shown that corsets weren’t worn really tight, or especially as tight as this implies or we have been led to believe for a good while, as 18th century stays tended to be more forgiving/loose. Plus styles were starting to transition to directoire/regency fashion which were more loose and fluid. Much later they did get quite tight and restrictive, but this wasn’t specifically due to anything to do with the French.
That aside, this was a sweet and adorable romance. I was able to overlook that bit for this reason as the chemistry between the two characters was perfect, and I did read the book in a span of like 2+ hours. My biggest issue though was the time frame, and the fact that nothing really happened. We know that Cordelia is supposed to be there for a fortnight, but everything happens over 4 days – even the big dramatic moment wasn’t that dramatic as it’s all forgiven too quickly. When they meet the father, you expect more given everything we learn of Cordelia and why she’s there(though some stuff still is never cleared up), but there’s hardly anything in terms of a reaction. Then suddenly the book has ended. We learn quite little about Walsingham himself besides he’s a really young doctor and lives in Weymouth. We also don’t ever learn why Cordelia is overwhelmingly suspicious and terrified of men – her reactions at time seem to imply something deep except nothing’s revealed.
Really this book was over just as really could’ve started and that ultimately led me to feel disappointed. As I said, it was an enjoyable and sweet romance if all you want is just that, but otherwise nothing terribly memorable. It’s not a book that I could see myself re-reading down the line.
A Springtide Meeting by Emily Murdoch is the first book I have read by this author and it won’t be the last. This novella was a delight to read it was fast paced and a quick read. The characters are well written and very believable. This was a great story about love at first sight. The book did not disappoint and I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Murdoch.
Another sweet quick listen from Emily Murdoch. This is a comedy of assumptions and had me giggling. The attraction between Timothy and Cordelia is quick and strong, and so sweet. I enjoyed this story.
I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
A fast paced delightful novella. A case of mistaken identity that leads to a sweet romance. Cordelia is sent to the seaside in Weymouth for her health, which is really only she has too much energy! Not finding the doctor she is suppose to meet she runs into Timothy. Timothy is actually the Dr and he is expecting a feeble older lady to be his patient! What follows is a romance filled with humor and a little intrigue that will keep you turning the pages! Read to find out what happens, you will not be disappointed!
LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES!!!
A well written, easy to follow, fast paced and exceptionally entertaining. A sweet, heart warming and energetic romance that will bring a smile to your face and joy for the two main characters who fund love in unlikely places. I really enjoyed Emily’s view and realistic scenes that jumps off the pages. A fantastic read I’d recommend anyone who loves a good regency romance.
This is a short and sweet story which is totally delightful and kept me guessing for most of the story – and then the penny dropped – for both me and the dear doctor, at about the same time and all became clear.
I loved the ending and I loved that the main characters were able to work out their misguided ideas and their misunderstandings with good, honest communication which is often so lacking in this type of situation.
Altogether a beautiful story, well told and well narrated.
I voluntarily read a free copy of the ebook as well as listened to a free copy of the audiobook and the above is my unbiased and unsolicited review.
