I found this book to be very very good. It has romance, suspense, action and drama. This was the first book of the series that I have read and I am looking forward to reading the first four.

What a beautiful and strong story! I love the pace, the strength of the characters and tenacity or the heroine! These warlocks of Black Oak are some amazing men and their women are amazing, strong and graceful!!! These books are hard to put down and this was just as good!!! I loved reading the back story on these two got to this point in time and way that match flared to life!!! Sloane is such a determined, forgiving and gentle soul. Duke is strong, loving and tormented. The two together learn how to mend fences and how to be strong and united for lil Elsa. I love the aunts they would be a hoot in real life!!
I look forward to Mal’s story and looking into the other books Ms. Borque has written!!!

Drama, suspense, and action are extremely prevalent in the story. This is amazing characters that have amazing dynamics. I like that even though book5 in the series, it can be read as a standalone. The plot is creative make for an enticing story.

Duke Morgan is forced to face his past in the form of Sloane Davenport who attends an auction and tries to buy a magical artifact that Duke wants to buy and lock away from people to keep them safe. Neither has gotten over the other even though there is hurt on both sides. Duke must make the right choices to protect Sloane and her adopted daughter. I love the characters in this novel. I laughed and cried and felt all the feels as I read the love story and the adventures that Duke and Sloane have as they fight for their future and the future of Sloane’s baby. An incredible story that introduces new characters and brings back characters that we have met before. I loved this story and can’t wait for more. A truly unputdownable book and another amazing story.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. A Spellbinder’s Denial by Marie-Claude Bourque reads well as a stand alone, but is actually book 5 in the Order of the Black Oak Warlocks. This was a drop-in read for me, no previous experience with the Black Oak Warlocks and I was able to follow the storyline. From the moment I picked this book up, I was riveted by the characters and the storyline. I could not put this book down! I love that Ms. Bourque gives us something a little different… Sloane is a Banshee and Duke is a Warlock. This highly addictive read was thoroughly entertaining and completely designed to pull you into the story (with great success!). There is a wealth of emotion to be ridden here. I laughed, cried and raged right along with Sloane and Duke. To be honest, I wanted MORE! I’ll be going back to the beginning and must place a warning: This Series Is Highly Addictive And May Cause Happiness! Mature Readers Only!

There are lots of stories about high-school sweethearts reconnecting later in life. This takes that story and adds more from the school of hard knocks. Both our hero and our heroine have talents which they denied for fear to hurting others, both have had to deal with difficulties, both suffer from a traumatic separation and both have supportive (if over-protective) family. Despite a painful past and a truly awful emergency, two very scarred hearts still manage to connect and heal each other. Isn’t that the way life is supposed to go?

When Duke and Sloane were younger, Duke lost control and burnt Sloane really bad. He gave up his magic so he wouldn’t lose control again and anyone else again. Then he met Sloane again after she had adopted her cousin and the vampires were after her daughter for her blood. But she couldn’t do it alone, Duke had to get his magic back which he did very painfully. Then Duke, Sloane and her aunt took down the nest of vampires, they also used their powers together to keep their city free from evil!!
Duke reconnects with Sloane, after a tragic accident kept them apart for twelve years. This is such a good book, very well written!

I believe this is the third book that I have read of this Black Oak warlock series, and I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed the other two. This author has a way of drawing you right into the book because she creates such believable and sympathetic characters. Even in the first chapter at the auction, I felt I already had a good sense of who the hero and the heroine were, what they had gone through, and what it meant for them to meet again. There was a slight feeling of an information dump at the beginning, but actually it was mostly woven in pretty well compared to most narrative sections of that ilk. The story truly is character driven. I very much enjoyed watching this story unfold with two such decent people who are doing their best to protect those they love and care about. I’m a sucker for stories with a wounded hero or a wounded heroine; this story had both.
