Between navigating my classes and figuring out my relationship status, a new torment promises Sophomore year to be a killer one. Literally. My freshman year saw us thwarting the apocalypse. Now, with Lucas and Isaac by my side, I’m determined to figure out what Hunter’s problem is. At least I know where I stand with Nathan. He actually wants to kill me. To be fair, killing me might save the world. … me might save the world. But after the chaos of my first year, all I want is to make it to graduation.
It’s not going to be easy. Something is hunting me through the halls of Rosewilde, one of my professors is hellbent of seeing me expelled, and the replacement Headmaster might be worse than the last one. Oh, and even my fearless BFF, Serena, is side-eyeing my new roommate. I’m pretty sure he wants to eat our souls.
Welcome back to Rosewilde Academy of Magical Arts—where everything you thought you knew is wrong, and everything wrong feels right.
A Spell for Shadows is the second book in the Rosewilde Academy of Magical Arts series following Amelia Cresswin after she gave up science for sorcery. She’s got her BFF and lovers who are willing to share. This book is filled with scorching dramatics, men who love each other, and a rollercoaster of a magical adventure.

Sophomore year at Rosewilde was just as exciting, if not more so, than Freshman year. Between the “hauntings”, Magic, and heat between Amelia and her guys I was enthralled the whole way through. I want to go to Rosewilde when I grow up!
This series gets better and better! What can I say without giving spoilers? I love how she has grown into her powers and how the relationship with her boyfriends is growing and improving, I hated Nathan for a while there but now I am trying to find a way to get him also in the mixed, lol. As always, love is steamy and just wow!! Cant wait for book 3
Admittedly, I am not a fan of Academy books. I usually find them too juvenile, BUT this series features college aged characters. Plus, the authors write them as being mature, which i really do appreciate.
You’ll find that the characters don’t hide their feelings and they don’t keep secrets from each other. There’s actual communication!! Lol. There is also a kink in the love pentagram(?) Nathan came back with quite a revelation and this book features the complications of his prophecy, plus his reluctance to accept the heroine into their group. However, the other men DO step up and continually support her. Love this!
Highly recommend.
This is Amelia’s second year at the academy things start to get a little easier for her but not to much. The relationships between her and Nathan has changed with the return of hunter and his strong dislike and distrust of Amelia. Gotta read the next one to see what happens next
**** I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy ****
WOW!! This is a great sequel. Be prepared for an intense ride. There are so many components in this book that will give you chills, break your heart, and alleviate your heart rate.
A Spell for Shadows follows Amelia, Nathan and Hunter due to the cliffhanger in book one. Lets just say that this book is intense. The turmoil with Hunter and Amelia is heart breaking and sad because Hunter feels like he is going to have to choose between Amelia and Nathan. Of course Nathan and Hunter have a history and he wants things to go back the way it was between them. However, Nathan is not the same since he came back. He is still trying to get his bearings but believes that Amelia will be the downfall of the world. He has is own agenda on how he will handle Amelia but Hunter, Isaac and Lucas are not going to allow him to destroy her. The guys are there for her when she needs them and she does not hide anything from them. Her feelings for them grow even more in this book as well as for Hunter. She wants to give him time to come around and be there for him while he tries to figure out what to do with Nathan. While all this is going on someone dies and two more attempts that were thwarted. Once they figure out what is going on, Amelia has to learn more about her path and has to be taught by her enemy Nathan. Can they become friends and help each other or will they be doomed. Can Hunter work out his issues and start to love again? You have to read to find out. This is one of the best Academy books I have read and you will enjoy it too.
I had the extreme pleasure of being accepted into this academy over the summer (I have an letter and everything) and now I find myself at Rosewilde Academy for sophomore year (along with Amelia and Serena, junior year for the boys; Hunter, Isaac and Lucas) and I cannot help but get excited for the ride of my life.
I was excited to start back, to get deeper into my friendship with these characters and to see what our next adventure was. School is school and as awesome at it is, I will be honest and say I am not here for the academics per say; I want the magic and the mystery, the danger, the passion and the heat (wink, wink).
To my semi surprise, Nathan has returned with a very bad attitude for Amelia and it is up to us to help her with his trouble. With twists and turns I didn’t see coming this year, the academy is even more fun and gasp-worthy then last year! Amelia has a lot on her plate this year. She has to fight Nathan; one of the boys (Hunter I’m looking at you) has an issue that needs to be resolved and soon, there is the issue of the Headmaster (what a grump), a new roommate (who is totally sketchy) and a haunting presence! This is the year to be here, let me tell you!
With all the action that takes place, the heat, the hint of darkness, there was also more to this year than just the possible annihilation. Each of my friends had moment of growth and learning, not only about themselves but also in their relationships. The development and mastering of magic made this year even more exciting. I was surprised and the amount of magic Amelia now has, and her ability to control it. I still love Serena’s mouth and Heaven help me with those boys!! I can’t choose (well neither can Amelia…bwahahaha)!
I can only hope next year, the darkness is still there and the heat increases. That is why I accepted my acceptance letter after all…
