A nice slice of small town life
This sweet and clean romance brings together Kayleigh and Liam, some twenty years after their childhood friendship almost turned into something more in high school. Their mutual but unexplored attraction to each other sparks to life as they battle each other over the annual holiday fireworks display.
I loved how these two fit right in with each other’s lives and with their community. This was a quick read for me, not a whole lot of tension or suspense, but a delightful visit with memorable characters in a small Connecticut town that ended with a solid HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is a beautifully written love story between Kayleigh Baker and Liam MacAvoy. They grew up together in a little town called Mulberry, went to high school and had a secret crush on each other. Years later Kayleigh is the Fire Chief and is wanting to carry on the tradition of the town having fireworks on the 4th of July. Liam is the Chief of Police and doesn’t like all the trouble the fireworks cause in the town and is relieved when they get cancelled. Can they resolve their differences concerning the fireworks or will it all blowup in their faces? I recommend this book.

Sparks fly and it’s not just the fireworks
Kayleigh and Liam have been friends forever. They have also been crushing on each other for the longest time too, but afraid to act on it. And now they are at odds about the annual fireworks show. Kayleigh wants to hold the fireworks show in honor of her mother, who used to run the show before she passed away. But Liam, the police chief, doesn’t want the hassle of it, especially after a little boy got hurt the previous year and Kayleigh set Liam’s car on fire. So, Kayleigh sets up her own plan to make it happen even if it might upset Liam. Will they be able to come to a mutual agreement and can they set their differences aside in order to start the relationship they both desperately want?
This was a fun book to read. The stubbornness between Kayleigh and Liam kept things interesting. There were quite a few comical moments in the books along with some seriousness. I enjoyed all of the characters including Kayleigh’s neighbor’s mischievous dog who seemed to steal a couple scenes.
I loved this book! There is so much push and pull between the main characters with love simmering beneath it all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3.5 stars
I had not read any books by this author and decided to give her a try.
The story centers around Kayleigh Baker and LIam MacAvoy.
She is Mulberry’s Fire Chief and Liam is the Police Chief. Currently at odds since while Liam is happy the 4th of July Fireworks have been cancelled, Kayleigh is determined to get them back on the agenda. Memories of her mother are the reason behind this desire.
But they also have a history. Next door neighbors growing up who always wanted more than just the friendship but neither expressed their feelings.
Will Liam and Kayleigh finally speak up and have a chance to get their HEA, or will their silence force them to go their separate ways?
I felt the story at times dragged, and was more of a 3.5 stars for me.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Boy likes girl, girl likes boy. Why can’t they get together?
The one and only time Liam and Kayleigh kissed, she punched him. Then she left for basic training. More than a decade later she’s back after bouncing around when she got out of the service. And they’re still dancing around one another. Everyone else sees their attraction to each other, why can’t they?
This is a good story but, it is dragged out a bit too much for me. Liam, the police chief and Kayleigh, the fire chief have been lifelong friends and they each harbor deeper feelings for each other. This whole story revolves around these secret feelings and the Fourth of July firework display. Liam doesn’t want the fireworks because of safety and logistics. Kayleigh wants them because she needs closure for missing her mother’s funeral as well as to honor her memory. It’s a tug-of-war between the two which, is driven into the ground. In regards to their personal relationship, here are two intelligent people who can not express nor explain their feelings. So, this obviously poses a huge dilemma in taking their friendship to the next level. It gets tiresome. The other characters do bring in some relief here and there especially Quinn, Kayleigh’s neighbor’s dog. He is my favorite.

Dang, Kayleigh and Liam sure are stubborn! These two are so cute with their constant bickering and good-natured friendship. This friends to lovers story is sure to leave a smile on your face.
This is pretty good. It has it’s ups and downs. I really wish the characters had been a little less stubborn and a bit more decisive. The anticipation kept me on edge and the humor helped to keep me engaged until their big bang. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Kayleigh and Liam are long time friends. Each wants to be more than friends, but are scared to change their dynamic. The story has lots of humor and heart. But I agreed with their friends that they need their heads knocked together. The lead and supporting characters are fun and interesting. The banter was good. The story had a good pace. Overall it was an enjoyable read. I received an advance copy from Booksprout and ma voluntarily leaving a review.
What a sweet story! Liam and Kayleigh could have it all if they would stop being stubborn and fighting. Will they finally communicate how they feel about each other?
