This is an awesome book in which the rapture takes place. Cat is given the job of reaching people before the rapture actually happens. This book kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened!
This book was a good follow-up to The Still Small Voice. I recommend the two books be read in order since they are closely connected. Once again I can’t say I agreed with the author’s take on all the details when compared to Scripture, but read as fiction I could overlook that and enjoy the story as I did with the first book.
A Spark in Darkness (Christian Speculative Fiction)
Are You Listening, Book 2
By: Lorana Hoopes
Narrated by: Lorana Hoopes
The Rapture is coming, and Lorana Hoopes sequel to The Still Small Voice has me captivated. The story continues with Kat and Jordan, each having their own voices talking to them and letting them know the next step in the journey before the rapture. It’s exciting as we see a look at what could happen, the way the darkness descends and the look at the way the world begins to change. While it’s speculative, the story’s high tension is exciting and made me take a look at my own faith. Hoopes writes fantastic characters, each with their own stories and level of faith and weaves the story leaving us waiting for the next book in the series! Narrated by herself, Hoopes brings is all alive, with each inflection and each emotion. I loved this installment to the series and am looking forward to the next one.

Wow, wow, wow!! Makes one think as a Christian, are we doing enough to spread the word, living right? Are we ready for the Rapture, whenever it will be? I was given a free ARC by the author. My review is freely and honestly given
Certainly an intriguing subject for a book.
It is fascinating to read, but I have to take exception to it. I think it’s possible, to read it as more speculative. We don’t really know if it will be like this, so we should not read it as factual. It’s still a good read, though.
A Christian post apocalyptic world with angels that moves along. I’m still not sure about this view, but was drawn into the well written characters and interesting storylines that’s moved along. I think both Christian and non Christian readers will enjoy.
I was given a copy and am voluntarily giving my honest review.
amazing fiction story of the days before the rapture.Kat’s being able to warn those being left behind was the part that stood out. How the left behinders felt and realized touched me. A very inspirational book. I highly recommend this book, whether or not you believe.
I was immediately pulled into the story, and it kept my attention all the way through. Jordan, Kate, and Raven all have their parts to play. I felt the shock, the urgency, and the dread along with the characters. The plot has twists and turns. Although this story has a satisfying conclusion, I definitely am looking forward to reading the next in the series to see what happens with Raven. I recommend this to all Christian fiction readers and to those seeking understanding of Christianity. I received an ARC. I chose to review and share my opinion of this well-written story.
I found this to be very interesting. I am a believer of the rapture and I think the author did a good job describing the immediate chaos of what it will be like after the rapture takes place. I enjoyed Jordan and Kat reaching out to people even while knowing they would be misunderstood, that is what true witnessing is about. This read will give everyone something to think about if you dare to read it.
I received a free copy of this book and am leaving my honest, unbiased review.
This may not be the type of story I normally read, but the story is engaging, the characters seem relatable to a younger reader and impart a potentially life saving message.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review of the story.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Lorana Hoopes, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest review. This is a great book about Kat and Jordan being given gifts to warn and help people accept God into their lives before the rapture takes place. Raven has been chosen to lead people left behind after the rapture including herself through the years of tribulation. This book ends after the rapture where Kat and Jordan have been taken and wondering if Raven will be successful. I look forward to the next book to see if Raven does succeed. The books in this series need to be read in order.
A SPARK IN DARKNESS IS AN EASY TO READ STORY FOR ALL AGES ABOUT THE END OF TIME AS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS
This is probably the best story I’ve read based on the rapture since the “Left Behind” series. I will admit I agree with the author’s viewpoint regarding the timing of the rapture and tribulation. I could not put this book down. You can feel the pressure Kat and Jordan feel to talk to the unsaved. Lorana Hoopes will give you plenty to think about.
There are some books that impact our thinking and make us reevaluate life. This is one of those books. The writing style is wonderful, the storyline is so well developed, and the characters are vibrant and show deep emotion. This is a book I just couldn’t put down. Highly recommended!
I received an ARC and have chosen to give my honest opinion.
Wow! I started reading this early morning, and did not want to put it down. Of course I had to, but every spare moment I picked it back up and continue reading. 3 totally different women each with a different gift they had to learn how to use before tribulation struck. I finished in the same day. If you like suspenseful thrillers, you can’t go wrong with ‘A Spark in Darkness.’ I highly recommend.
A story of the Rapture. What really happens? There are people who believe in God but may not have made a decision to follow him. There are people who are saved. There are people who are unclear about their status. There are people who don’t believe in God at all. One story of what might happen. The story follows several people as the Rapture approaches. There are angels who provide guidance to those who are saved and will be taken. There are demons who are trying to turn those who are saved away from God. And there are demons who are trying to keep those who are not sure from accepting God and being saved. It is a story that provides on idea of what might happen. But no one really knows what will happen. It does cause you to stop and think and decide where you are and if you need to take further steps to make sure you are taken in the Rapture.
Great futuristic apocalyptic Christian Novel. Angels and demons, both seen and unseen, and humans. Are you prepared for the end of the world? Are you prepared to meet Jesus? Those types of questions take place in this fast paced novel. Some content may not be suitable for all audiences, that’s why I gave it a 4 star rating. Happy Reading!
You/We don’t know what today, tomorrow or next week will bring.
Great characters who know this first hand, Kat, Raven, Brian, Jason and angel(s) Micah – all share their thoughts, concerns, feelings. Stay tuned, page after page, life goes on, maybe not the way you think it should or will it?
WOW! What a great book. Angels and demons fight it out!
I did not want to put this book down! It really makes you think about what’s coming.
Well done, Lorana Hoopes.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I haven’t read book 1 yet, but I had no trouble reading this book. I didn’t feel lost in the story line.
Ms. Hoopes did a good job tackling a difficult topic – The Rapture. Jesus is coming back and we don’t know when. Book follows the lives of Jordan and Kat – 2 Christians who know that the Rapture is near. They have a mission and by working together, they are setting out to accomplish it. Ms. Hoopes did a good job explaining the struggles that these women face, their doubts that they are worthy enough to help.
Raven, Jason and Brian – these 3 characters are struggling with their own feelings, their own questions. We get to see this struggle during the book and how their interactions with Kat open their eyes.
