Lovely – Romantic – Exciting!
When Lord Thomas Carlton, second son of the Duke of Shawcross, decides one fateful afternoon in his youth to befriend the beautiful Lady Catherine Ambrose, he could never conceive of the events that would follow. Tired of his father’s bullying … of the events that would follow. Tired of his father’s bullying and arrogance, he thinks he will amuse himself by making a friend of the daughter of the Duke’s bitterest enemy; The Earl of Barford. Little did he know how he would fall in love with Lady Catherine and let loose a chain of events that could seemingly be stopped by nothing and nobody.
Lady Catherine Ambrose, daughter of the Earl of Barford, knew what it was to grow up in a household where little was thought of a young woman. Her father was more concerned with his bitter feud with the Duke of Shawcross than the welfare of his offspring. When Thomas Carlton first speaks with her at a summer ball, Catherine thinks him daring and amusing, not to mention handsome. But, within a short space of time, she finds herself hopelessly in love with him. A love that would never, ever fade.
When the two are discovered and parted by their families, Catherine finds herself adrift in a world she does not know, a place so far from home. But will she find peace there? And can her new family help her through the most shocking event of her life? And, when all is settled, can the two young lovers finally make their way back to each other and live in the love that should have been theirs all along?
“A Soulmate for the Heartbroken Duke” is a historical romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Oscar Ambrose, the Earl of Barford and Penrose Carlton, the Duke of Shawcross have been bitter enemies for years, like their father before them.
What will happen when their children, Lady Catherine and Thomas meet in a deserted hallway at a party? What are her father’s plans for Catherine? And can sadness ever be turned into happiness?
I highly recommend this captivating new novel of family feuds and Regency fathers’ total disregard for their second children, the afterthoughts.
Reminded me a lot of Romeo and Juliet without the death of the H/h. Fairly well edited.
Catherine and Thomas meet at a dance. They are the children of men that continue a ridiculous feud. Catherine and Thomas meet in secret, but are eventually betrayed by Thomas’ brother. After one last night together, Catherine is sent away to Northern England. Thomas tries to search for Catherine, but is unable to find her with nothing real to go on. Catherine is left with a sweet reminder of their time together, and with the help of her aunt and uncle, manages to keep her secret. Years later, Catherine’s father finally dies. She returns for his funeral – not to mourn, but to finally see her beloved brother again. What will she find in regards to Thomas? Will he be married? Will he still be waiting for her?
Things have changed for Thomas is really drastic ways. Now, he must decide if he is willing to continue to let life happen to him or if he will wake up and take control of his own life again.
Overall, this was an entertaining read. Sometimes the flow of the story felt a little stiff. However, it will be pleasant way to pass an afternoon. Enjoy.
ANOTHER WIN FOR BRIDGET!!!
One thing I can always count on from Bridget is a great read. She uses everything at her disposal (including but not limited to, the kitchen sink) to transport us back to the great REGENCY era. She pulls it altogether beautifully in a staggering and realistic way. With twists and turns and unpredictable surprises that captures your imagination and holds it till the end. I love this read just as much as the last and somehow I know less than the next. Her gifts and talents fuel her imagination to bring us full turn with excitement and adventure. I was fascinated watching the characters and their personalities transform and blend. I was held so tightly in this tale I didn’t want it to end. Thank you Bridget for sharing such an excellent read with us.
Cried through entire book. Could not put down. My kindle powered off, had to wait to charge. Also love the extended epilogue.
Pain caused by an old feud, forbidden love, betrayal, and loss keep Thomas and Catherine apart for eight years. They never stopped loving each other. When Catherine’s father dies, she is able to return to her home and they are reunited. They belong together, but so much has happened. Is it as impossible as ever for them to be together? Can they overcome the obstacles that still stand in their way? Some very good friends and loving family are going to try to make it happen for them. Some determination and a few revealing surprises might help as well.
This is a wonderful story of love lost, and found. Strong characters and a gripping emotional storyline make this one you will not want to put down. Make sure you have a tissue ready as you come to the end.
