Jonas Schwartz isn’t just good at playing football.
He’s also good at playing hearts, and four years ago, he played mine like it was the easiest game of his life.
Brokenhearted, I ran off to art school, swearing to forget about my one-off secret weekend with the star quarterback.
I’d heard whispers about his injury, but I never expected Jonas to return to our hometown to rehab his knee, and I … to rehab his knee, and I certainly never thought he’d show up on the other side of my door with a pizza in hand.
He looks good. Better than before.
Whatever–I’m over him. I’ve completely moved on.
I just wish my heart would get the memo…
This novella was previously included in the Team Player 2 Anthology. It has been updated to include new chapters and an epilogue.

This was the perfect slice of a novella! Easy to read and has fun and sassy characters. I love when the jock is the sensitive one and the “nerd” blossoms. Jonas and Frankie were perfect! Even though this was a novella, nothing felt rushed and I felt like I got a story just as complete as a regular length novel.
I flew through this novella, and I have to say that it is one of my favorite Teagan Hunter stories yet. Jonas and Frankie were two extremely likable characters, and their love story kept me on my toes the entire time.
I still feel giddy after reading this book. It had me smiling the entire way through. Teagan Hunter always creates the best witty banter between her characters, but Jonas and Frankie had some of the best chemistry yet.
A Slice of Love is the kind of RomCom that reminds me why I love this genre so much. Teagan Hunter’s style of writing is so uniquely her own that she can take even the most simple cliché and make it feel like something I’ve never read about before. She creates a world that you want to live in. A group of characters that you want to be best friends with. But most of all she makes me laugh and wish I was half as funny as the people in this book.
So if you’re looking for a quick read then you’ve found it. It is the perfect book to curl up with when you want to relax and forget your troubles for a couple of hours. Just be ready to want to dive into every single book in this series once you’re done with this one.
Teagan Hunter has made her way to my list of favorite 1-click authors. Her books are sassy, funny, emotional, and just about any other emotion you want to throw on that list. Her Slice series was has been all of that, and has me hungry (see what I did there?!) for more! A Slice of Love is Jonas’s story but it can absolutely be read as a standalone title. All of the books in the series can be read as standalones, but if you’re a series junkie like me, it’s totally worth it to pick up a copy of all of them.
Jonas and Frankie were a different kind of BFFs in high school that led to something more for them both. But when fate steps in, it quickly falls apart leaving them both reeling and taking completely different paths for their futures than they thought they would take. Years later, they are both back home. Will they both get the closure they need or is there still enough feelings on both their parts to make a relationship work this time around?
NICUnurse’s Rating: I love second chance romances. I love romcoms. I love emotional books. And when you pack all three into one novella in a series I love, it’s a definite win for me. And A Slice of Love does a fabulous job wrapping it all up. I don’t know if it’s because Jonas and Frankie’s story is similar to my own second chance romance or Ms. Hunter’s writing that I really seem to connect with, or a combination of both. Regardless, she absolutely had me laughing out loud one minute and fighting back tears the next before wanting to cheer this couple on while feeling all the feels. In this crazy time that we’re living in, A Slice of Love truly had me pulled in from page one and immersed so fully into Jonas and Frankie’s world that I didn’t think or worry about anything going on in our world until many hours after I hit The End. And during a time where I’ve had a lot of trouble focusing on reading, that’s saying a lot.
Needless to say, I give A Slice of Love by Teagan Hunter 5 out of 5 stars!
If you’ve ever read a novel by Hunter, then you know you can expect some incredible characters filled with witty banter, angst driven romances and a touch of cravings between the pages. Her surprise novella, A Slice of Love was a wonderful addition to an already exciting sports anthology. Hunter surprised readers with a bonus novella featuring our favorite small town pizzeria and ex football star, Jonas. From the beginning Jonas’ weird attraction of high school nerd Frankie had the inner high school dork in my screaming with excitement. Who doesn’t root for the underdog? These two were the perfect match. Hunter creates a spark that only she can ignite between these two. Although it was only a novella, Hunter managed to work her magic creating a funny, heartfelt and utterly sweet novella that is hard to resist! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Sigh. I will never get enough! A Slice of Love is the perfect quick read. It has quirkiness and humor while also being heartwarming and engaging. I am extremely satisfied with this book! The characters are amazing. The heat is on point. The writing style is everything I love.

I adored this short story of Jonas and Frankie. These two were so fun to read about.
Jonas was the high school football star that knew he’d never be good enough for Frankie. She’s the ultimate good girl with her father being the pastor’s daughter and her mother is the high school principal. Frankie keeps to herself until Jonas is seated next to her in senior year and they start to pass notes. Their unlikely friendship grows and when things escalate they make decisions that can’t be taken back.
Afterwards, Frankie’s parents threaten Jonas’ budding football career which scares him enough to avoid Frankie but he has a plan that just doesn’t work out. Now, after a injury that throws his career his on hold he’s back in his hometown. When he runs into Frankie things escalate quickly but can they move on from the past?
I first read this story as part of the Team Player 2 anthology. Here it has been released on its own and I believe it was expanded as well.
Novellas are hit or miss for me. Sometimes they are just not long enough to really develop the characters and plot. Frankie and Jonas’s story was perfect for a novella. There was just enough of their past in the first few chapters to set everything up. The story is sweet and the secondary characters are as fun and funny as Frankie and Jonas are.
This story is part of the author’s Slice series, but can be read as a complete standalone.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Dibs on Jonas Schwartz and Julian Schenn!
I loved this book. That’s not really surprising though.
I peed my pants laughing! Okay maybe not literally because I have complete control over my bladder, but the back and forth between Frankie and Julian was fantastic. Bestfriend goals really.
I’m not about that spoiler life so I’ll give you the gist of it.
You got Jonas, your typical popular football jock and Frankie, shy, daughter of a pastor. They build their friendship through passing a notebook in class, putting their heart and soul down into it. They had a plan of keeping their relationship on the down low until they go to college. But bam! Drama happens! Dun dunn dun! A few years later, they meet again! Lots of laughs, sexual innuendos, and tears happen. I really suggest just reading the book yourself. You won’t regret it!
A second-chance sports romcom. Hot jock. Nerdy, girl-next-door. This novella will have you laughing and swooning…and begging for more!
Oh my!!!!! I think this one is my fav in the series!!! I love Jonas! Who can’t love a snarky, hot football player right. And to fall in love with the shy girl. LOVE IT!!!!
Jonas is back home after hurting his knee. He is up for a NFL contract and is on the mend. Between physical therapy and his part time job at Slice, he should be back on the field in no time. But a blast from the past makes it so much harder.
Frankie is an artist. An artist who is shy and well only every been in love once. Once was enough. But when that past shows up at the door, she is thrown for a loop and all the anger returns. Can she forgive and forget?
This story was fun and serious all rolled into one. Between the snarky comments and sweet moments you are sure to fall in love with this story. Jonas and Frankie are beautiful together and I wish there was more. I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic comedy. It has all the classic Teagan Hunter qualities her other books have. Laughter, tears, happiness and swoon worthy romance. Ms Hunter is a goddess in the Rom-Com world and we as readers are not worthy. Bravo!
Aw yay! I loved this little “slice”! The slice world makes me so happy! All of the characters so far are fun, witty and have your rooting for them from the beginning! Frankie and Jonas didn’t disappoint! This is a complete stand alone and you do not need to read the other books in the series first to enjoy this one! (But I recommend it anyway because they are great!)
Originally a short story featured in the Team Player 2 Anthology, this story was given a little boost and released on its own as a novella within the slice world. A short story of first love and misunderstood heartbreak, second chances and happily ever afters. If you are looking for short and sweet story to uplift your mood, with a little bit of cheese, throw in a sassy heroine and a smooth operator hero (lol), you have a winning combo! A feelgood sweet and charming read!

will have you laughing and swooning…and begging for more!
Ahhh, I loved this story! Though it’s not connected to the other Slice series books you still see a pop up of beloved characters and it’s set in your favorite pizza flavored town. Jonas and Frankie might honestly be my favorite! A perfect getaway for a few minutes between all the crazy happening in the world! Definitely worth a read!!
Second chance cute novella. We first meet Jonas and Frankie is high school. Drama happens and then we meet them again after college. I really enjoyed how they became close friends. It was very unique. Jonas and Frankie had the odds stacked against them. But in the end they overcame those odds. There were several cute parts. Loved Frankenstein & Igor.
A Slice of Love was absolutely adorable. I was laughing out loud and swooning the entire book! For a short novella, Teagan Hunter made me fall in love with her characters hard and I wanted so much more because I loved them so much! Teagan creates a fabulous story where you just enjoy, smile, laugh and remember why you love reading so much.
What an amazing story about second chances and Pizza. Jonas and Frankie are the complete opposite. Secret friends from high school, they went their separate ways but never left each others heart. An accident and a pizza order brings them back together but is it too late? Teagan Hunter has me anticipating the next installment of the series because each one has me craving for the next slice.
With each meal, Teagan brings a slice of laughs, a slice of tears (a very small slice, we will call it just a taste/teaser) and a huge slice of love topped with romance and served steamy hot!

I love Frankie and Jonas.
I also love pizza and love and second chances.
What another fun book in the slice series. A great story with amazing characters.
They made me laugh a lot.
This is an ooey gooey, warm, and slightly cheesy little slice of love. I know I’m not the only reader with big heart eyes for Jonas! He’s the sweetest and he’s so funny! I’m so sad things didn’t work out how he wanted them to but I appreciate his determination to fix it. Frankie is so sweet and forgiving. I’m so happy she got to be happy. And I want my own Julian! It’s not a long story but it still delivers a delicious bite!
I’ve read books by this author before and I really like her style of writing and I really enjoyed reading this story. This book is a short quick read and this book was an awesome read that I would recommend everyone read. Its funny and sweet with lots of romance and fun.
Frankie and Joans have known each other from high school and used to be really into each other until life comes between them both. Then years later they come face to face and yep, the chemistry is still there for them both. The last thing she expected was him delivering pizza and he is as shocked they both are.
Frankie and Jonas have a lot of history between them both and a lot of water has gone under the bridge. Joans used to play football in school but after an injury everything has changed fro them both. Can they forgive each other and start a new?
( NO SPOILERS )
This author has written these characters brilliantly and I really loved reading about them and rooting fir them and there second chance at real love.
I absolutely love second chance romance and I love seeing how the characters don things different from before. These two have known each other from the past but the question is can they move past the past and be different in love?
This book has some humors moments and moments of drama, you will really enjoy reading this book just as much as I did and I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.
Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
