Jonas Schwartz isn’t just good at playing football.
He’s also good at playing hearts, and four years ago, he played mine like it was the easiest game of his life.
Brokenhearted, I ran off to art school, swearing to forget about my one-off secret weekend with the star quarterback.
I’d heard whispers about his injury, but I never expected Jonas to return to our hometown to rehab his knee, and I … to rehab his knee, and I certainly never thought he’d show up on the other side of my door with a pizza in hand.
He looks good. Better than before.
Whatever–I’m over him. I’ve completely moved on.
I just wish my heart would get the memo…
This novella was previously included in the Team Player 2 Anthology. It has been updated to include new chapters and an epilogue.

A Slice of Love is a second romance between Frankie and Jonas who in high school started to build a friendship into something more before Jonas puts an end to it. 4 years later and who happens to be at Frankie’s doorstep delivering a pizza, none other than Jonas Schwartz.
This was such a cute and sweet novella in the Slice Series. It was adorably funny and super swoon worthy and slightly frustrating at times and I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved both Frankie & Jonas as well as the various side characters present especially Jonas’ entire family who I’m hoping might apear in a future Slice book maybe even Sully’s book I love this entire series as well as Teagan’s writing and can’t wait to see what’s next
Teagan Hunter is the master at writing unputdownable romantic comedies!
Every time I pick up a Teagan novel, I know that I am in store for one sexy, and hilarious read! She can never do any wrong.
A Slice of Love is certainly no different. Right from the first few pages, I was already starting to laugh. Jonas and Frankie will leave you in stitches. From their “reunion” to their banter, it will entertain you to no end! I love that these characters got their second chance, and were able to once again take a chance with love.
This is a wonderful addition to the series, and I cannot wait to see what Teagan has in store for us next!
5/5 Stars!
Frankie and Jonas were friends in secret friends in high school. Jonas and Frankie left high school not talking to each other. Four years later Jonas delivers a pizza and there’s Frankie. Can Jonas convince Frankie to forgive him a chance? Great characters and storyline. Great book
I need more.
Honestly, that is all my brain would spit out for the longest time after finishing this novella. I need more. I need more of these characters, of these moments, and of Teagan Hunter’s brilliant writing and whit.
I just need more.
Originally apart of the Team Player 2 Anthology; A Slice of Love is a sports romance short story that follows rising quarterback Jonas and the girl he left behind, Frankie. After a bliss filled weekend in High school, Jonas hits Frankie with the cold shoulder. But fours years of confusions and anger has passed and Jonas is back and determined to get Frankie back.
I couldn’t stop swooning with these two. Their dynamic—even after the disconnect in high school—was just as strong (arguably more so) as the sexual tension between them. I love how Frankie didn’t take any of Jonas’ bull and vice versa. They made each other be better and do better, something that I get weak in the knees with when watching two characters interact with each other.
I did stumble a bit with the main blowout towards the end of the story, but I think that is just me wanting something more fleshed out and not taking in consideration that things are sped up due to it being a novella/short story.
Overall though, A Slice of Love is one of my new obsessions and if you haven’t gotten on the Teagan Hunter train yet, this is the PERFECT story to jump into with!
The chemistry between Frank and Jonas immediately ignited the pages, from the moments Frank opened her door.
At roughly 150 pages, A Slice of Love does not feel like a novella. The story is so well crafted that I lost track of time swooning so hard. Did I want more if Frank and Jonas? Hell yes, because Teagan knows how to write characters that effortlessly come alive. And, honest to God, I think this is my favorite Slice couple to date, truly. But I’m happy, thrilled, with the ending. It felt complete, any more and I think it would just ruin it all.
I could summarize it for you, but the blurb does that, and I don’t want to give away anything. Stolen moments and touches, heated looks- these are a few of my favorite things and there are many in ASoL, which is probably why I swooned SO HARD anytime F and J got anywhere near each other.
I don’t know if it is just the timing in which I read the story, but it was the absolute perfect escape. Everything tied up so nicely and did not feel any kind of rushed. I only just finished and low key miss the couple already.
I’ve said it a million times before, Teagan pulls me out of my comfort zone when I am reading her (in that contemporary is not my go to), and every single time she draws me in and I don’t ever want to leave. She’s my unicorn.
The thing about Hunter’s RomComs is that you never finish disappointed. She crafts such wonderful characters, and Jonas and Frankie are no different. This is the perfect way to introduce yourself to her “Slice” world!
A Slice of Love is comfort food for your soul! A charming second chance romance that will have you craving that perfect pizza while reading Jonas and Frankie’s story. A quick read that will leave you smiling and thinking of that special someone you used to exchange secret notes with. Filled with laughter and witty banter, I highly enjoyed this low drama romance.
This book was good in the anthology and it’s even better now it’s been extended a bit more. I enjoyed reading the book with all the growth and world building.
This little slice of love… has a huge heart.
Yes, there’s romance, and Yes, there’s passion. But most of all it’s two people who undoubtedly love each other with every fiber of their being. Frankie and Jonas are my favorite couple. Though this is a novella, it did bring me to tears cause you could feel everything that they were feeling.
I’m hoping, maybe there’s a whole book full of Frankie and Jonas. I really can’t get enough.
Overall, Five Boundless Stars
A Slice of Love is a novella set within the Slice world. This is a complete standalone and a good introduction into Teagan’s brand of humor and writing style.
We first met Frankie and Jonas in the Team Player 2 anthology. A Slice of Love is an expanded version of that story. And I’m all about it.
Jonas was the HS quarterback; Frankie, the daughter of the principal and the pastor. One weekend and a school project later, the secrets in their hearts come spilling out.
Four years later, Jonas is back in town nursing a football injury. Fate or chance bring him back to Frankie’s door. What follows is a sweet and funny story of second chances and PIZZA!
Though it’s a novella, A Slice of Love does a really good job of presenting a well-developed story with fun and interesting characters. I’m glad Teagan opted to expand Frankie and Jonas’ story, and I absolutely loved getting a peak at where they end up.
I highly recommend this series!
I read this in Team Player 2. I also love that we got more of these two since I really enjoyed them in the anthology.
This one was cute and fun! I thought Jonas and Frankie are hot together. They had great banter and chemistry. And omg Julian, I absolutely adored him! He had some of the best lines in the story.
Teagan Hunter is a one click author for me. I had read this cute short story in the Team Player 2 Anthology and wanted it to be a full length story because I loved the characters.
I got my wish. I read this cover to cover in one sitting. It is everything I wanted it to be. Fun and quick. Well developed and satisfying. I am hopeful that a few of the secondary characters get their own stories.
I absolutely recommend this story.
A second-chance sports romcom. Hot jock. Nerdy, girl-next-door. This novella will have you laughing and swooning…and begging for more.
I first read A Slice of Love in the Team Player 2 anthology and fell in love with Jonas and Frankie. When I read that Teagan Hunter was releasing this novella with a little extra added to the story, I couldn’t wait to read it again and compare the differences.
This is a second chance novel about high school sweethearts who are torn apart by outside forces finding their way back together later in life. There is a lot of humor and a lot of heart in this story. The book is very relatable. After all, who doesn’t remember their first real love? I am so glad for the extra something that was added. It really added to the overall story. Even though this is a novella, there is so much to the story that it feel like a full length book. Readers will not be disappointed.
I first read this as part of the Team Player 2 Anthology and loved it! It is a super sweet second chance novella. Of course, It has the quick, witty banter that I love about Teagan’s books. He’s worked hard to get where he is and the world is at his feet. Frankie is a loner with over baring parents that try to run her life. She just wants to be an artist. They form an unlikely friendship that is secret. Then one weekend changes their lives. Years later they are different people and they are the last people they expect to run into. Frankie wants to run. Jonah won’t let her. As the truth comes out they realize their romance is anything but over. I loved loved this story! Jonah had me swooning through the whole story. I loved Frankie. She cracked me up. And their friend Julian…what a riot! It was fun to see some characters from the other parts of series thrown in a little bit. This is fast read, but so entertaining. You won’t be able to put it down. Get ready to fall head over heels for the captain of the football team and the artistic role model for the loners.
