A mutual attraction happens immediately between these two appealing characters.
A new an intriguing version of that enchanting tale. Fanny Finch’s superlative writing just enhances the story.
In this retelling of sleeping beauty, Fanny Finch brings us a beauty endangered of her life, an underestimated son, an arrogant Duke (can you imagine that?) and an unsuspected villain. There have been more than a few secrets kept over the years that as usually do have a way of coming out and biting our rears. This was the perfect blend of humor, villainy and romance. Totally enjoyable.
Starts out like a “Sleeping Beauty” but ends up being so much more. Aurora Vincent, the daughter of a Duke comes across an old woman at a street fair. Aurora gave the vendor a flower crown she made and in return, the vendor gives her an emerald broach. Aurora tries telling her that it’s not necessary but she insists. Aurora takes it home and puts it on her dress, pricking herself and falls into a deep sleep. Remember, ladies, don’t accept ANYTHING from an older woman, or man for that matter. It rarely works out well.
Meanwhile, Percival Avondale, the son of a Duke finds himself at odds with his father over the fact
that Percival wants to train for medicine which his father refuses to accept. He wants Percival to seriously start learning duties for when he becomes a Duke. Oh, and get married. To achieve the latter, he sends Percival to see an old friend who happens to have an estate near Scotland. Where Percival’s estranged uncle lives. That’s a whole different story.
Percival arrives at the estate only to discover that the daughter has been in a sleeping state for two weeks. To find out what happens next in this interesting tale, you need to read the book. You won’t be sorry.
I received an ARC of this e-book to read and write an honest review. In addition, I purchased a digital copy of the published book.
This title actually intrigued me. I started comparing it the story of “Sleeping Beauty”. So our sleeping beauty is Aurora, the daughter of the Duke of Thornbrook. The Prince is Percival, son of the Duke of Follet, who studies in medicine. The curse is a poison, the needle is the pin of a brooch with the poison on it. The villain is a spoiler. I like the authors vision of how Sleeping Beauty plays out in Regency, England. The ending is quite drawn out trying to solve all of the couples problems before giving them HEA.
