When tea and murder make a bitter brew …Maddie Morgan’s life is going up in flames. She’s got ex-husband troubles, a mother-in-law feud, and a cantankerous parrot to contend with. But just as old doors close, a new one opens, beginning with the sudden death of Maddie’s grandmother and an unexpected inheritance. Moving to a new town, Maddie rolls up her sleeves and prepares to revive a run-down … prepares to revive a run-down tourist attraction that could one day be returned to its former glory as a Japanese tea garden.
But getting the tea garden up and running won’t be easy, not with someone trying to sabotage her efforts. Worse still, there’s a murderer on the loose and corpses are popping up like daisies in the tea garden! Can Maddie capture the killer before they strike again? Or will her life, along with her freshly brewed new business opportunity, get sucked down the drain?

Couldn’t put it down. Needed better proofing though. BREAKS don’t squeal but BRAKES do. Twice mentioned that the brakes squealed on Maddie’s car, and both times misspelled. Other than that, I enjoyed it very much.
enjoyed the characters
I really enjoyed this first book of the series. The setting was lovely, the characters were a little superficial but the final climax interesting. I did not quite see that coming.
Maddie was not the typical sleuth you read in other cozy mysteries, she really didn’t do much to solve the original crime, but I enjoyed this quick & easy read.
There was not much of a back story, but we get little glimpses of what went wrong in her marriage. Perhaps her next book will expand on it a little, so we can connect with the character.
I have to say I want to see how the story goes with her nemesis neighbor trying to force her out so he can have her land
Fairly simple plot.
Interesting characters in the book.
Something to read to pass the time.
I found myself wanting to keep reading this book, even when it was predictable. There are no earth-shattering moral lessons or complicated plot lines; it’s just an amusing little read. The author did a fair amount of repeating of ideas and it seemed like she was laying a groundwork for future books. Having said that, it may or may not be worth trying the next installment.
This was a different mystery. Our heroine inherits a Japanese Garden. She must repair it and solve the mystery involved with it. Recommend.
I enjoyed this book because the characters were well-conceived and the story kept me going. I especially like how realistic the main character was when dealing with understanding men.
cute
Short and sweet.
Lightweight entertainment on a long evening.
I enjoyed this book
Character’s are great, shame that Maddie didn’t know grandmother better who left her the beautiful gardens. Lot’s of twists and turns after body is found. People trying to close the gardens. Fortune cookie that says Adventure lies ahead was so truthful. You can picture the Gardens in your mind. They sound so beautiful
I get tired of protagonists who do dumb things just because a male character told them not to, even if they know nothing about what they’re mucking about in.
Good read
A fast read……..interesting outcome.
A nice read
Fast paced and adfictive. I’m looking forward to reading other books in this collection!
relaxing reading
The main character has inherited her grandmother’s tea garden and house. Unfortunately both properties are in dreadful shape. The author doesn’t give much detail about how renovations and updating were accomplished. Some comic relief arrives in the form of the ex-mother-in-law who has a profanity blaring parrot. The book was just okay, an easy read for a rainy day.
This is a unique setting of a tea garden and that setting adds much to the book. I enjoyed reading it and did not put it down until finished.
