Never Stop Dreaming…
I have fallen in love with Heart’s Landing. How could you not with streets that are named “Honeymoon Avenue” and “Bridal Carriage Way”? Heart’s Landing has been named one of the most sought out places to have your wedding and dreams come true. This story is about Nick Bell and Jennifer Longley’s dreams.
Nick is the owner and baker extraordinaire of “I Do Cakes”. How perfect is that? Jenny is her cousin’s Kay’s PA and she has descended on the town under the guise of being engaged and making wedding plans. Unbeknownst to the town, she is actually planning the wedding for her cousin. Kay is a well known actress and needs to keep her upcoming wedding under wraps from the press.
This story was a delight to read. As one might expect with this scenario, events leading up to the actual “day” do not go as smoothly as planned. This is my first book by Leigh Duncan and I look forward to learning more about the other characters from this town in the next book of this series.
If like me you enjoy the Hallmark movies, you will find yourself right at home with this story.
Heart’s Landing is the place for weddings. It’s also the location that Jenny Longley has dreamed of having her own wedding.
Wanting to keep her upcoming wedding a secret, famous Hollywood star Kay/Karolyn Karter sends Jenny Longley, her assistant and cousin, to plan her wedding, instead of doing it herself.
Nick the local wedding cake baker and bakery owner, befriends her and as time goes on his feelings develop for her much to his dismay, since she is “engaged”.
What will happen when the truth is revealed? Will that destroy the budding attraction, or will they find their HEA?
This book follows their tradition of a clean, touching romance with some drama .
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Hallmark Publishing . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Cute, Cute, Cute. This is a sweet romance. Jenny is the personal assistant to a powerful celebrity who happens to be her cousin. When Kay decides to marry, Jenny must plan the wedding. It starts simple but Kay keeps changing her mind. Jenny becomes more stressed as she comes to view all the vendors of Heart’s Landing as friends. She has to keep the actual bride and groom a secret. So she pretends to be the bride.
This is a sweet, clean romance. I loved the people in Heart’s Landing. I did think Jenny should have come clean sooner. I think the vendors would have kept the secret. But then, there would be no story. The people in Heart’s Landing are nice and Nick sounds especially kind and lovable.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and offer my honest opinion of this book.

A MUST READ!!
I received an ARC of Leigh Duncan’s A Simple Wedding for an honest review. A Simple Wedding was the first book that I have read by Leigh Duncan and I can truly say that I loved the book. It was a wonderful romantic story. The story, the characters and the setting were incredible. Leigh Duncan showed that she is a wonderful storyteller. A Simple Wedding is the story of Jenny Longley, personal assistant and cousin to a Hollywood mega superstar and Nick Bell, owner and baker of I Do Cakes. Jenny’s cousin, Karolyn “Kay” Karter just got engaged to her co star Chad Grant and Jenny’s next assignment is to arrange a small intimate wedding for Kay and Chad in Heart’s Landing, the same location that Jenny dreamed where she would one day get married. The only catch is that Jenny cannot say that she is planning Kay and Chad’s wedding, she has to pretend that it is her wedding that she is planning to her fake fiance Tom/Bob Cash. Jenny’s parents died in a train wreck when she was a child and her mother’s sister Maggie raised her. That is why Jenny feels obligated to do everything, as repayment to Aunt Maggie taking her in and for Kay always being there. Jenny and Nick first meet when Nick literally runs into Jenny as she stares at a horse draw carriage that is passing by covering her with a dozen of cupcakes he needed to deliver. Jenny is the consummate romantic and was dreaming about her own wedding and not Kay’s. Jenny goes into the bakery to clean up and offer to pay for the ruined cupcakes. Denise, the counter girl told her it was all taken care of. Nick gives Denise orders that whatever Jenny wants is on the house. Jenny orders a cupcake, and she loves it. She sets up a cake tasting with Denise. Jenny starts to visit I Do Cakes daily for a cupcake and coffee and getting closer to Nick. Nick tells the other wedding merchants in Heart’s Landing, that Jenny is a true Heart’s Landing bride. So they all want to go out of their way to make all her dreams come true. Meanwhile, Kay is becoming a “Bridezilla”. She changes the wedding size from fifty to two hundred fifty, the cake flavor, and the color scheme of the wedding. Jenny blames all the changes on her fiance, Bob and his mother. When Jenny questions Kay’s demands, Kay challenges Jenny questioning her about whether or not Heart’s Landing can handle her wedding. Jenny knows that the businesses Heart’s Landing could not survive the negative from Kay if her wedding is not perfect. Nick falls in love with Jenny, a woman he believes is engaged to another man. The story is filled with bittersweet moments that I so enjoyed. I loved the friendship and romance between Jenny and Nick, how Nick does so many sweet things for Jenny, even though he thinks she can never be his. A surprise plot twist changes everything, and Jenny wonders what will happen to her relationship with her new “family” that she found in Heart’s Landing, not to mention her Prince Charming. I loved the happily ever after. It was a perfect romance and I loved every page. The bonus is that there is a recipe for Lemon Bars at the end of the book. They sound delicious!
Ever-pleasing and organized Jenny is just this “bride,” who is in way over her head. Bakery owner Nick reluctantly rushes in aid and at the expense of his heart. How will Jenny confess to these new friends who mean more to her daily? That may cost her everything.
This Hallmark movie-worthy book kept me awake quite late, but I was intrigued to the end. That ending was justifiable for the lack of sleep. Leigh Duncan’s town of Heart’s Landing should be on your book vacation list. Whether you’re a bride-to-be, newlywed, unmarried or married for decades, this is a welcoming, interesting community. The townspeople are friendly and helpful, even if you are a fake fiancée who seems to often change her mind.
*Bonus: lemon bar recipe
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
