Short and sweet: The best (and most informative) book I have ever read!
I do not think I ever learned so much in a single volume.
Bill Bryson is always entertaining. There was much I didn’t really understand, but that is ok. He makes it so interesting, you don’t feel compelled to completely understand the science; you can just enjoy the ideas. I liked it.
This is simply a masterpiece. It offers such dense information in such an entertaining format, I’d need to read it once a year to get everything I could out of it. Now that I think about it, maybe I will!
Hard to read, but by far my favorite book. I learned so much about things I always took for granted and the men and women who changed our world through discovery and invention. I especially recommend the illustrated version.
Phenomenal. Bill Bryson at his best.
I love Bryson’s humor and really enjoyed the insight and unusual facts he wrote about. One of my favorite authors.
