“Karma takes too long. I’d rather beat the shit out of you right now.” With a dagger in her boot and blades in her bra, Briar, a powerful shifter, arrives in Rouen with one goal: find and kill Dominic, the man responsible for the destruction of her entire family and wolf pack. When she discovers he is an Alpha surrounded by muscle-ripped shifters and equally as strong witches, she knows the only … strong witches, she knows the only way she will get close enough to kill him is if she joins his dangerous and shady pack.
But infiltrating them proves more challenging than she expects, especially when her new roommates turn out to be supernaturals with their own powers and secrets. She can’t tell if the centuries-old, nosey vampire and fashion-sensitive witch are working with her or against her.
Whether they are friends or enemies doesn’t change things. Briar has a job to do. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to quench her thirst for revenge, even if it means destroying her own soul.

I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Wow just wow!!! I opened this book and the next thing I knew it was over leaving me wanting more. The combination of these two awesome authors has created and urban fantasy world that you can believe exists even if reality claims otherwise. We get not one but three women that seem to know their particular craft quite well. Following a revenge mission is always intriguing especially when it morphs into something else entirely. Wonderfully written as well as full of surprises that will keep you guessing. Book two is going to be awesome!! I totally loved it so I give it 4/5 stars.
This is the first story in a series by authors that I have not read before. This story has so many twists and turns and a main character is fueled by revenge. She is also a very strong character that has bound by not been bound by friendship while on her journey. She has only two more on her revenge list to kill. I loved all the characters in the book. The evilness of the last two on her list is very well played out. If you are squeamish and are easily triggered do not read this book. It has violence and can be a trigger for you. I happen to think it made the story better. I would highly recommend this book.
It was one of the best books that I have read in a very long time. The author is absolutely amazing. The series overall is a must read for everyone who loves fantasy!!! Theses books are definitely ones you could read again and again!!
Did someone say gritty? All I can say is game on! These are the type of characters that make you wince at their raw pain, at the same time you want to cheer them on in their search for justice. Briar, and her roommates Samira and Lynx, all harbor some deep secrets. The question is, how much blood are they willing to shed to keep them? How many lines are they willing to cross, and who will be left behind as collateral damage? And for the mysterious men who are trying to control them, when the chips fall, do you go it alone or trust someone to have your back? This is a book about revenge, relationships, and betrayal. And just when you think you finally know who to trust, the tables are turned yet again. In Rouen, the men are making the rules, and some badass women are breaking them. No one is quite who they seem. And by the end of the book you find yourself crying for book 2 to learn if your faith was justified, or if you’re just another pawn in the game…
Ready to read the rest in the series!
I really enjoyed this book and went straight on to the next book in the series. This is a fast paced fantasy with many moving parts and an abundance of characters. Briar, our heroine, is a sassy and funny character and her story brought out all kinds of emotions in me, I cried, I laughed and I found the book very hard to put down.
There is a hint of romance (watch this space), there is the classic war between good and evil, in which Briar doesn’t know who she can or cannot trust. In this book she finds out more about herself and the power she contains within, although the truth of everything Briar does not come out until the third book in the series.
By the time I am writing this review I had read the first three books in the series and if you enjoy a good fantasy/paranormal tale I would thoroughly recommend this series.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but it in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. This is my first time with this author, but it won’t be my last.
Holy shiznet!!! I couldn’t put this down. There’s so much intrigue and so many people with secrets that there’s no way to know who’s true and who’s not. I love Briar, she’s one snarky, sassy female wolf shifter with secrets of revenge. Then there’s Luke, a hot, sexy wolf shifter with secrets of his own. Also, Samira, a lethal female vampire, & Lynx, a quiet, why female witch, who both have secrets of their own. Now with all that add in a psycho alpha & beta, two screwed up packs, and a lethal vampire cartel, and you have one gr8 story. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up
A Shifter’s Curse #1 – Another good series from one of my favorite authors, Rachel McClellan and even and with her name change to Raven Steele, she still remains in that category. This book is fast paced, action packed and well thought out. The storylines are interesting and add twists and kinks, but keep the reader glued to the pages. There’s violence but it isn’t graphically gory but clear what happened; the reader still can use their imagination. Yes, vulgar language but not continuous, here and there for emphasis.
The characters are developed enough for the reader to understand them and their motives. They run the gamut on personalities and types. The action has a real feeling to it, not the Hollywood garbage common today. With the author’s clear, vivid descriptions the reader is racing along in a rollercoaster car that sometimes isn’t on the tracks, which adds a lot of excitement to the story. I contacted the author to review her books and she hasn’t disappointed me once. 5*
Shifter’s Rage #2 – Ms. McClellan is one of my favorite authors and even with her name change to Raven Steele, she still remains in that category.
Like all of her previous books, this is fast paced, well written with well thought out storylines, some of which are completed in this book and some that set up the next book; not a cliffhanger. Her characters run the gamut from nice to typical to horrendous, complete with their own personalities. The action scenes run true, no Hollywood silliness, and there’s violence but not graphic gory, just clear cut. The reader gets the picture and feels the pain, but their imagination is allowed to exist. The author does a wonderful job with her clear, vivid descriptions. There is sexual tension and some vulgar language but not in every sentence, paragraph or page.
Here and there will be a surprise twist out of the blue; there are still surprise kinks and actions, but the twists add a depth to the usual shifter/vampire/witch theme. Ms. McClellan makes her stories her own and not copies of what everyone else is doing. It is easy to get lost in the intrigue and suspense and the revenge, while still seeing good. I contacted the author to review her books a long time ago and haven’t read a bad book in the last two years. 5*
Briar is a super strong shifter. No one knows how strong she really is and all she wants is revenge for the death of her family. She’s afraid to let anyone close to her but learns she will need help to complete her task. This was a great story. Really well written. It was definitely a bit dark and gritty. Nothing has come easy for Briar and she will keep fighting. I loved her no nonsense character. She knew what she wanted and went after it hard core no matter. what. I’m so excited for the next book.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were awesome. I was instantly drawn into their story and unable to put it down. A Shifter’s Cures was thrilling and fast pace with lots of twists and action. I can not wait to read the next book.
Breathtakingly brilliant read. For fantasy readers it doesn’t get much better than this! This book has everything. I loved the characters and the world building.
There is a vortex of secrets and Briar seems to be slap bang in the middle if it all. This strong woman has revenge to dish out, secrets to unravel and can she trust anyone enough to make friends on the way???
Can’t wait for the next book!
Loved it!
Intriguing, multi-layered characters in a story you won’t want to put down. Non-stop action with the good, the bad and the ugli.
Anxiously waiting for the next book.
Paranormal perfection! Loved this first book in the series and looking forward to the next!
This was a fantastic book with characters that just grab your attention and keep it! Briar is a fantastic character that was fun and also a shifter. Add in her roommates Samira a vampire and Lynx a witch and the story just gets better. Lots of action and tons going on. The world building and character development was great. This is a great pairing of authors and you won’t be disappointed. Secondary characters are also well developed. I can’t wait for the next book! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc.
