**Please note that their are spoilers below in my review.**
A Shifter Christmas Carol gives us more of a taste of Dylan. When the author told use that we where going to be digging into Dylan, I was thrilled, but unfortunately this novella left me unsatisfied.
Dylan is a man of few words and his goal is to protect his family and save all shifter kind. The author takes us on A Christmas Carol storyline with Dylan. The sentient house, which I love this house, shows Dylan the past, present, and future. I’m not a fan of this storyline. It’s so over done.
During the timeline when Dylan goes to the present we get a scene that had me going, uh no. He has ghostly sex with Glory, his women, not truly mated, but they are committed to each other. This scene was just weird.
Once we are done with the Christmas Carol storyline, Dylan see’s that he needs to be home and not follow through on this plans. He goes home, tells his family he loves them, talks to Andrea’s Fae Father, Fionn, and then goes off and has sex with Glory. The end.
I adore the Shifters Unbound series, but I could have done with out this novella. It was enjoyable, but not my favorite. Yes, we do get to understand Dylan more, but I felt it was just to short and the storyline was not my cup of tea.
Rated: 3 Stars
Anyone who has read this series knows that Dylan Morrisey is the Alpha of all the Alpha’s. I know he has stepped down, but make no mistake, he is still “The Alpha”, and we all know it, I mean seriously, they all know it too. Let me put it this was, when the Shifter – Faerie war comes, I am team Dylan.
This was a great take on The Christmas Carol, with us really seeing how important Dylan is to the survival of his shifters in our world, as well as Faerie. Puts a new spin on Dylan’s way of thinking, and our way of thinking as well. If you are a fan of this series, like I am, this is a must read for this series, such an enlightening book into this world.
A great paranormal romance series
A fun twist to the Christmas Carol story.
Jennifer Ashley s shifter books are amount my favorite s, they are definitely worth reading, you will get hooked
It’s short, too short for my tastes of course. But Dylan does make the perfect Scrounge. I felt the story could have been longer, but I think this is a teaser to what’s to come, a taste to tide us over. It was a great, if quick read, and we get to be introduced to a new type of being. Interesting. Can’t wait for more!
Another great story of my favorite shifters. Love love the ending.
Nice addition to her Shifters series.
3.75 stars–A SHIFTER CHRISTMAS CAROL by Jennifer Ashley focuses on one-time clan leader, and former Shiftertown leader Dylan Morrissey as he struggles to free the shifters from their segregated communities known as Shiftertowns.
SOME BACKGROUND: Thousands of years in the past, the Fae created the shifters-a cross between beast and man-and in the ensuing time the Fae lost control and power over the battle creatures they had created for war. Approximately twenty years ago shifters were exposed to the human population. Out of fear, discrimination and specieism, the shifters were collared with Fae magic in the belief that it would control aggression; then they were forced into segregated communities known as Shiftertowns. There are several Shiftertowns located throughout America where shifters live in a relative but strained peace amongst their own kind.
Told from third person perspective (Dylan Morrissey) A SHIFTER CHRISTMAS CAROL follows lion-shifter Dylan Morrissey as he forgoes the annual Yule celebration in an attempt to broker a deal with the blood-sucking humans known as the zilithal. Leaving family and friends behind, Dylan heads to the ‘sentient house’ in New Orleans where he will come face to face with his past, present and possible future as he battles to free the people he loves. What ensues is a ‘Christmas Carol’ style chain of events where the potential repercussions of Dylan’s actions could mean the death for them all.
A SHIFTER CHRISTMAS CAROL is a fast paced, novella length story wherein Dylan Morrissey must come to terms with his one-man inability to save the Shifter race. From a feeling of hopelessness; his lack of attentiveness of his beloved Glory, to the possibility of losing everyone he loves, Dylan will soon realize that family and friendships mean the world and more. Definitely familiar in its’ presentation A SHIFTER CHRISTMAS CAROL is a ‘spirited’ and dramatic tale.
