You can’t outrun a troubled past, no matter how fierce your love. All Demetri has ever wanted is to protect his deaf sister. It’s why he became a doctor, and it’s why he must get her away from Colorado. Hunted by the Irish mafia, Demetri and Sandy flee to Bear Creek, where they settle into a calm life, free from the troubles of their past… or so they think. With Sandy safe and flourishing in her … safe and flourishing in her new life, Demetri longs for something more, and long winter evenings of letter writing soon bring Emily into his life. Emily’s not like any girl he’s ever met before. With her fitted jeans, her pistol and her sharp wit, she’s no ordinary lady, and she doesn’t need protecting.
But Sandy does. Demetri’s past follows him to Bear Creek: Sandy’s in danger, and the whole community’s under threat.
Is love and friendship enough to save her? Can Emily prove herself to Demetri? Will this fearless bride cure the troubled doctor’s heart?

Sweet Historical Romance
Lots of things are happening in quiet Bear Creek! Lots of firsts for this unique town mixed with both Sioux Natives and White settlers. A wonderful book!
3.8 stars- Dimitri and his sister, Sandy, comes to Bear Creek so he can take over as the area physician. As is custom for many of the area, he places his own ad for a mail order bride.
Emily is one of the respondents to his ad and they write back and forth but since it’s winter time and not a good time to travel to meet, they get to know each other better. Her family isn’t happy with what she wears or chooses to do. She chooses jeans rather than a dress. Instead of cooking and cleaning, she would rather be out in the field with her 6 brothers working with the cows. She’s a little bit of a rebel and I love it!
This story got intense when a kidnapping ensued after a dangerous past catches up with Dimitri and his sister.
This book has a dual love story going on between Dimitri and Emily and Sandy and the chief of the Sioux. Although, don’t expect any love scenes going on, it’s very wholesome.
The narrator had a good cadence for the story.
I requested this audiobook set from http://www.audiobooksunleashed.com for free and have voluntarily left this review.
Loved the book.We meet Demetri and Sandy who have left home because their father was arranging for marriage for Sandy who is deaf to someone she does not like. They run off to where some extended family is at. I won’t ell you what happened you need to read the book but they flee fearing for their life. They end up in what seems to be a nice quiet town named Bear Creek. Everyone keeps telling he needs a wife a mail order wife. So he gives it a try. Emily Banker is the only girl amongst her siblings and she wants to do the things her bothers do but her mother and father are against it. She exchanges letters with Demetri then finally goes to Bear Creek. They were shocked to see her arrive in pants. So many things are going here so you will need to get the book and read so you know what happens> Do they find love? Does two women live in the same house? Does the past catch up with Sandy and Demetri?

I have read most of the books in this series and I enjoy returning to Bear Creek. Demetri and his sister, Sandy are new to Bear Creek. They are from Boston and are great additions. Emily is a spirited young woman. She answers Demetri’s ad for a mail order bride. She’s ready to prove that she can live life, on her terms, but will that include marriage to the Doctor?
This is a clean well written story. Isn’t about Emily Baker leaving home to find her own way in the world. She goes to Bear Creek as a mail order bride. Dr. Demetri Roberts and his sister, Sandy Roberts who is deaf are running away from a mofia, Ferguson Dillon. Sandy encourages Demetri to marry and settle down. Demetri and Sandy knows Brown Bear, leader of Sioux Indian camp. This story is filled with excitement and adventure. I received an ARC of this book and I highly recommend reading it.
I enjoyed revisiting Bear Creek. I like this series. I appreciate that the townspeople are accepting of Brown Bear’s people. Also that the two groups are not only willing, but open and happy to exchange information.
I really liked that Emily was not female in the traditional sense. She acknowledged and accepted the person she was in spite of how others felt. I was glad that Demetri liked her and made no attempts to change her. I was also pleasantly surprised that everyone in Bear Creek accepted her as well.
This was a sweet romance focused on tolerance, acceptance, friendship, loyalty, family, love, a nd support. There was also some action and suspense just to give it that bit of an edge.

This was my first Amelia Rose’s book, and won’t be my last. A Sharp Witted Bride for the Troubled Doctor is the fifth book in the Bear Creek Brides historical Western romance series.Demetri and Emily’s story is well written, fast-paced, sweet, fun, and heartwarming, filled with a mystery and suspense. Demetri, a doctor, is a great man, handsome and caring. Emily is feisty, strong, and independent. They are perfect together. Demetri’s deaf sister, Sandy, is a wonderful character. This is a great, and original mail ordered bride story, where surprisingly the damsel in distress wasn’t the mail ordered bride this time! I enjoyed it.
He is a warm, caring, loving and so much more person. Only thing is he has bad people after him. He has a deaf sister to protect. Also he has always wanted a wife and family. He moves to a better community to get away from the bad guys. He meets her but trouble has followed him. Do they make it work? I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

What a great book which we actually had 2 love stories building with a lot of action through out the story!! The characters are very relatable and just wonderful. It was really sweet to have characters from the other books involved in this story. Great job Amelia Rose!! I can’t wait to read your next book!
I always enjoy visiting Bear Creek, Montana. This story was different from most mail order bride stories in that Emily isn’t fleeing a bad or dangerous situation, just one where she feels stifled. Amelia Rose has once again given interesting characters, a fast moving story line, romance, humor and conflict. What more could you want? I look forward to the next book.
ONE BOOT STOMPING, BUTT KICKING TREAT!!!
Blazing buzzards! Amelia unleashes this action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, chart topping, page flipping treat, rocking this skillfully composed dynamo to it’s core, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Shenanigans, escapades and mayhem rule the roost displaying the perilous drama, unnerving intrigue, chilling danger and spine tingling suspense keeps you riveted on a razors edge and lands you frozen to your seat waiting for the next shoe to drop. Toss in turmoil distress and precarious situations along with a boatload of moxie and a side of sass, you have one mind-blowing adventure. Blurring boundaries and leaping lines, exposing the strengths and weaknesses being weighed and balanced, kicking this baby into overdrive, breaking it down, blowing it into a tailspin with a eye-opening realization. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable connection, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Amazing job Amelia, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
Great Story!
We have two love stories for the price of one in this book.
The first is between Emily and Dr. Demetri and the second between his sister, Sandy and the Chief.
It makes one very aware of the consequences of running from one’s past and how terrible it must be to be looking over one’s shoulder all the time.
The characters are really great and both of the stories beautiful and just clamoring to be read. I did and loved them both.
This book is a great addition to the series and I am happy to recommend it.

Sharp Witted Bride for the Troubled.Doctor
..Amelia.Rose
Demetri and Sandy fleeing once again, this time in the midst of winter, the Dillion’s were once after them. Settling in Bear Creek, a remote mountain town close to the Sioux Indian people. A suggestion for him to marry, his wife to help him, the only option was to marry a mail order bride. His sister needed to be considered, the small apartment they shared now, was too small. She worn born dead, and a amazing cook, thought a good idea.
A story that shows his deep love for his sister when she is kidnapped, as does the chief of the Indians, for him, will love come. A good story that mixes a doctor’s role with tending to the Sioux Indians also. The chief sees his love for his people saying someday maybe he would be their medicine man.
