I didn’t do it.I never betrayed my friend.Last year, I was kidnapped along with presidential candidate’s daughter Lindsay Bosworth, forced to help her assailants, my mother implicated in one of the biggest political scandals in American history.I’ve been cleared of any wrongdoing, but that doesn’t matter. Once you’re tried by the media, you’re guilty as sin. The truth doesn’t get the public’s … doesn’t get the public’s attention.
But shame? Shame sells.
And everyone assumes you’re tainted.
Now I have my own personal security team, courtesy of the United States government. Not the one you learned about in civics class, though.
I’m being tracked by the deep state. The shadow government. They’ve assigned Silas Gentian to be with me twenty-four seven. He thinks he knows everything about me – all of it bad — and he does.
On paper.
Like everyone else, he assumes I’m a traitor. A backstabber. A betrayer. Someone who helped a group of violent psychopaths, puppets of powerful men in Washington who made me into a tool.
Yet I see how he looks at me. True desire can’t be faked.
Or hidden.
And that goes both ways.
He assumes I’m trying to fool him.
And he might be right.
But not for the reasons he thinks.

Enjoyed the story but I didn’t like the fact that there was no real ending to it.
Left you hanging in the end.
A story that leaves you hanging until you read the next book. The story itself was confusing, switches back and forth. I would not read the next one.
Really enjoyed reading Con. Very believable. Characters entertaining, great chemistry. Looking forward to her next book.
Great book. Would definitely recommend.
I didn’t want to put it down! The characters were well developed, the story unfolded brilliantly, and it has a unique plot. I’m ready for the next one!
Great book am reading the last one of the series! Awesome
Good read!
I didn’t want to put the book down, because I was caught up in the story, which , although somewhat contrived and unrealistic, is compelling. However, the book ends in the middle of the story. I get that it is a part of a series, but usually something is resolved at the end of the first book. Now I feel tricked into buying the next one, and I don’t like that feeling.
Enjoyed all the books in this series
Really enjoyable. However story continues into next two books.
Great story but of the actions don’t really make sense. I’m definitely not a fan of cliffhangers.
I enjoyed this book SO much! While action-packed, alot of the story happens in Jane’s head –in her thoughts, her emotions. She’s reacting to every event, and there are turns and twists galore! Everyone is out to get her, and for good reason. Her life is in shambles, and doesn’t show any sign of improving. What calamity or disastrous turn of events will happen next? By the time I reached the end of this book, I was hooked and DESPERATE to find out what would happen next. I’m in book 3 of the Shameless series now, and can hardly put the book down to sleep.
It took a few chapters, but I realized I knew this story. The Harmless series begins with Lindsay’s story, and the Shameless series continues on. It’s a political suspenseful romance mystery, and you will be reading as fast as you can through every single book!
Could not put it down! A great read!
Could not put it down. Bought the second and third book in the series immediately after finishing this one. Cliffhanger!!!!!! One of the best books I have read in a long time
A little hard to follow but still wanted to keep reading and read the next book in the series
Warning, NOT a stand alone book. it appears there was a book before this one that explains the event that this book is based on. Very confusing when you haven’t read the previous book AND, it ends without answering “who done it”.
Wow! I couldn’t stop reading. I bought the reaming books in this series and read them all. Highly recommend it.
I was confused by this book. The unfolding of the story made me wonder if I had missed a book before this one, even though this book was number 1. We need to know about the kidnapping, her mother’s death and the facts leading up to the start of this book. I chose “unpredictable” because without any setting up of the story the reader is very confused. I don’t want to read an entire book left in the dark. The ending if so bad I have no desire to read the subsequent books.
Read this book and loved it. Ended up buying the series. Great writer.
