What a read! Absolutely loved this book
I found this story to be quite unique. The bride and groom have basically hidden themselves away from other people due to their faces being marred. Plenty of twists to keep you guessing and a good reminder of how we need to be more concerned with a person’s character and less concerned with outward appearances.
Christian Historical Romance
It didn’t take long to match the pieces of this mystery together, but learning the details on why was my favorite part.
This is a new narrator to me, and I found her most enjoyable!
I listened to the audiobook of this story. Great narration and enjoyable. Kitty is at a lost, now that her father is gone. The lawyer suggests she become a mail order bride. She is upset, no one will want her with her birthmark on her face. Kit has been in hiding, since he was burned. He needs a wife to help him, so he sends a request to the matchmaker. How can it be that Kitty and Kit need someone at the same time and are matched together. So their life begins, but is surrounded by mystery.
A Shadowed Groom for Christmas
Spinster Mail-Order Brides, Book 6
By: Marisa Masterson
Narrated by: R.A. Richard
This is not your ordinary mail order bride story! Marisa Masterson delivers a fantastic story of mystery and new beginnings that captured my attention from the vey beginning! Kitty has always worn a scarf over her face. Marred, she never wanted people to see her. Given the opportunity to be a mail order bride for a man in a similar circumstance, she takes it on. Kit, her new husband who wears a mask, never spends any time with her. Things seem a little suspicious. But what is the deal? Who burned his house down? Why is his cousin Phineas around, and why is she drawn to both of them? I loved this story! A little romantic suspense creates the mood and takes us down a dangerous path until Kitty is able to find her happily ever after!
RA Richard brings it all to life. It’s my first listen by her and she is fabulous! I love her voices and she tunes into her characters giving them their personalities. I will definitely watch for more from her.

Not only was it a great story but the narration was really good too. Definitely a thumbs up from me!
I listened to the audiobook version of this story and my voluntary and unbiased review is recorded above
This is a great book! From start to finish, it kept my attention as I was trying to guess “whodunnit”. Loved the characters and the HEA.
This was good read!! A tad suspense, a bit of a mystery, keeps you wanting to find out what happens! I’d definitely read another book by this author!! I received a free copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are all mine.
Kitty is desperate after the dead of her father. She’s born with a wine mark on her face and bullied as a child. Her father always protected her and now she alone. When she decides to be a mail order bride for Kit, who is scarred by a fire, she expects to live a quiet life. But her husband is and stays a mystery for her. When her life is in danger she got the help of his cousin, but why is she attracted to him?
I really enjoyed this book. Marisa Masterson is a great story teller.
Kitty Donaldson has lost her father and her home. What is she to do. Fettered since birth by a large birthmark over most of her face, she has been sheltered at home and allowed to become a recluse with tutors and a life alone except for her Mother and Father. Her mother passed away a while back and now her beloved father has also passed on.
She is 28 and really doesn’t know how to function outside her home.
Kit Randolph was horribly burned in a house fire. He is scarred and has also become a recluse, but is a very lonely man. He sends away for a Mail Order bride from a woman that does well matching members who have problems and
would still like to have a companion and family.
Kitty agrees to become Kit’s wife and travels from Charleston, South Carolina to Grand Rapids, Wisconsin to do just that. She arrives at night, in the fog and gloom. She is let off at the drive instead of being escorted in and this sets her nerves jangling. As they meet Kit is wearing a hood but something seems amiss to Kitty’s way of thinking. Can she discover what it is? Will they form a marriage and learn to love one another? Dangers lurk in this town and Kitty needs to solve the mysteries before she can be happy.
This is a wonderful book and I think it gives hope to those that feel they don’t deserve or are not perfect enough to have a loving relationship. Well developed characters and an exciting plot.
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
A beautiful mail order bride story that truly illustrates that beauty is only skin deep. Kitty after finding herself alone after the death of father decides to become a mail order bride. She was born with a birth mark and has been told all her life she was ugly and that no one would ever want her. She accepts the offer to become a mail order bride from a man who has physical imperfections due to a fire. This story has wonderful characters and a plot that has everything. There is deceit, lies, murder, betrayal, evil people, romance and a HEA. This is a real page turner and one you will not want to put down once you start reading it. I highly recommend this book.
What a fun and mysterious romance! I loved the characters but was drawn to Kitty the most. I loved how her character grew throughout the story. I enjoyed the mystery along with how the Pinkerton agency was part of the story. I’m looking forward to reading more by Marisa Masterson!
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

This book is so good! The way the author has written the book makes it come to life. It has action, suspense and romance, and will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next.
Will she bite off more than she can chew!? Being a mail order bride is scary enough now shadowed her every move… is it really necessary? One or is it 2 might think so? Find out who is who in this unpredictable story!
