Welcome to Briar Cliff, Arizona! Women are scarce and the town is in need of babies if it’s going to survive. But one man doesn’t want a mail order bride. His heart belongs to a woman he believes he can never have. This is their story.
Edith Garritty has secrets she’s been holding onto for the last five years. She shares at least part of those secrets with Alan Jessup, the man she’s loved ever … loved ever since he saved her life. But she and Alan can never be together. Not with the shadows hanging over both their heads.
Edith has managed to make some semblance of a life for herself in Briar Cliff, albeit not one she’s proud of. Just when she’s finding her new place in the world, the demons she’s so desperately tried to outrun find her. Not only do they threaten her life, but the life of the man who has never given up on her, despite everything.
Edith may have lost her way, but the brides of Briar Cliff are determined to help her find it. Still, if she and Alan are to stand any chance of being together, Edith is going to need to start trusting others again because she’ll need the help of her new friends to save Alan’s life, just as he saved hers all those years ago. It’s a race against time to save the love of her life and untangle her messy past—she only hopes that in the end, God will finally grant them their happily ever after.

Perfect Conclusion to Series
I came in a few books from the end of the series; this is the last book. I have to say that I am impressed with this final installment. The author handled everything just right. Like many series, this one had some overarching themes and mysteries that needed resolution; the author provided that perfectly. The heroine is actually a character that we have followed through all the other books, so we’ve gotten to know her and some of her woes before this book where she is the star. Though, of course, not everything about her was revealed until this book. Having that slow buildup, which I could even appreciate having only read the last three books, really added depth to her story. The hero and heroine’s path to their HEA was certainly not an easy one, making it even sweeter. If you enjoy historical Western romance, this one will deliver the feels and intrigue that the subgenre is best known for.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
What an awesome ending to the Brides if Briar Cliff series. I loved reading Alan and Edith’s story and finally finding out who the bad guy was and how it all came to be. I also loved the 10 years later epilogue at the end. If you love western romance about MOBs, you will love this series. I look forward to reading more by this wonderful author.

What a wonderful story to end this series that wrapped everything up and brought back the characters in the other books.
Edith has had a long trail to find her happy ever after and that can only be done with Alan. He saved her in one of the first stories and now it is her turn to try to save him. Suspense, secrets, angst, danger, a cast of characters and a sharing of hearts that was meant to be. It does not get much better!
I have really been enjoying reading this series. This is the final book of the series and it does a really good job of wrapping everything up and revealing all the mysteries. This is Edith and Alan’s story. We met Edith in Book 1 and have gotten to know her a little more with each story. Edith and Alan obviously share a past together, and in this book we find out how they met. It is a very well written and entertaining story and flows very nicely. There are a lot of details and vividly described scenes that help transport you back to that time and you really get a feel for what’s going on in the story. With some danger and plot twists along the way, the story kept me on the edge of my seat anxiously turning the pages to find out what happens next. This is a sweet, and clean story of a beautiful journey of love you do not want to miss! A perfect end to a wonderful series!

Fifth and final book in the “Brides of Briar Cliff” Series, the perfect ending to the series. Each book has been able to standalone but connected in story line and characters. The main characters for this story was Alan and Edith, which actually started out as two different characters originally before coming to Briar Cliff five years earlier. Their story was the reason for all the problems around town, and the mail order brides are the ones with open enough minds to figure it all out. Secrets unravel as the other four couples and Edith rush from Arizona across to Kansas to rescue Alan. The perfect ending to the series and wonderful read unto itself. All the questions from the other books will be answered even ones that you really did not know you had. There are even a couple of surprises just to make sure you are paying attention. It was a great work of art as it could not have been easy to work with this many characters and incidents, practically clear across the United States making this a real gem.

A Secretive Bride is the fifth and final book in The Brides of Briar Cliff series and is a wonderful conclusion to the series.
I have been loving this series and was happy to see that the other brides are involved in Edith’s fight for happiness. The characters of Edith and Alan are well developed and have a past together. The storyline is wonderfully written and engaged my interest from start to finish, with danger, suspense, friendship, and a chance for happiness and romance.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
This was Alan and Edith story and lot of secrets and the real culprit behind the attacks and murder in the previous books are reveled. Edith had a hard life and when she ran out of money she turned to prostitution to survive. This book talked about her past and I came to appreciate what she overcame and how strong she was. Alan came off as the town drifter, but his past is revealed too and he’s much deeper than that. It was great to catch up with the rest of the brides and their families as they rally around Alan and Edith. This was a clean historical romance with plenty of suspense.
I’ve read several books written by Kellie Abbott; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

This clean western was a splendid addition
So here it is the final book in the series and it is Alan and Edith’s story. What an interesting twist it was! I have enjoyed each story and of course, have to wonder who the main villain was going to be. It was a great choice by the author. Where each book can be a stand-alone the theme that runs through them all is best if reading from books one to five in order. This clean western was a splendid addition to the series and I highly recommend it, in fact, you should read the whole series. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A Secretive Bride is the fifth book in the Brides of Briar Cliff series, and as such, a lot of the characterization of the other brides, and others around town, is skipped over. I feel like I know the main characters well – Edith and Alan have a beautiful story – but I missed getting to know the others. (Guess I’ll just have to go read the other books!) There were a few twists that I just didn’t see coming, but a lot that I did. Overall, this is a great book, and has a lot of tension and action! I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories of hard-won love, hardship, and the American West. A great read.

Twixt, twinned and intermingled, exposing the explosive ups and agonizing downs, putting our characters through their paces, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Rolling with the drama, intrigue, turmoil, revelations, secrets, danger and mounting suspense, along with a boatload of shenanigans while dodging calamity, you have one mind-blowing masterpiece. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable bond and amplifying affections that catapult this jewel to life beautifully. The characters personalities are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that blend with one another perfectly. The scenes are graphically detailed with abundant descriptions there’s no problem grasping each scenario creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Outstanding job Kellie, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Great ending to the series! The author does a great job bringing the history behind Edith and Alan’s relationship and how they met. There’s mystery and surprises to keep you glued to the pages. The characters are strong and the story flows fluidly. I enjoyed reading this book/series.

This is, I think, the last story about the Briar Cliff mail order brides. And what an ending to this series. I just loved it. It is sweet, it brings closure, it has a good storyline and it has good characters. We are told about the history behind the lives of two of the towns people whom we have gotten to know in earlier stories and what a story they have… Just smashing. Four stars go easily to this story.
