The adventure continues through time … and its continually brilliant.
From the Fall of Troy to the Battle of Agincourt, Max and the gang are back for more wild adventures! I really enjoyed this installment. The bulk of the story is the team setting up for Troy, and spending 7 months living amongst the Trojans while preparing to come back to see exactly what happened when Troy fell to the Greeks. As usual though, no matter how carefully they plan, things go terribly wrong.
There’s also a quick jaunt back to the Cretaceous period, a thieving Isaac Newton, and some cheese-rolling in Gloucester.
I struggled with the ending of this one a bit though. It’s weird…I didn’t care for the alternate sci-fi ending, which I realize is kind of ridiculous considering this is a series about time-travel, but it somehow felt like a cheat. I can’t really say much about it because I don’t want to give anything away, but maybe it’ll all make sense in book 4.
Overall though, I’m still happy with this series and will keep on chuggin’ along with the tea-loving crew of St. Mary’s!
A fun series to read
Volume 3 of the Chronicles of St. Mary’s is the usual heady mix of whimsy, action, and unforgettable characters. These contemporary-time travelers (their phrase) deal in this volume with everything from ‘concussion by cheese’ to roaming dinosaurs. Jodi Taylor has a way with words that is unparalleled in her genre. Join the nutty bunch at St. Mary’s and have a rip-roaring adventure.
An excellent time traveling chapter of the St Mary’s Historians.
Ahhh, the world of St. Mary’s…once you get in, you will never look at history the same again. A lot of plain, old-fashioned fun. Read them all!!
These are really great books. Easy to read which is good and bad. I’m going thru them faster than I want! Have preordered the next book in the series. I hope that Jodi Taylor writes many many more books from this series. They are fun with likable characters who can be frustrating as hell. Good history lessons too boot.
The whole series is FANTASTIC! They get into all sorts of trouble, but dig themselves out.
Well Jodi Taylor can do no wrong – this book, no exception
Love this series. I’ve read them all and can’t wait for the next book.
Loved everything about their series!! Could not put it down!
A fun series
Everything Taylor writes is perfect and well worth reading.
All the books in this series are outstanding, interesting, unpredictable, and lots of fun.
Happily ever after with a twist. Fun and tragic all at once. This entire series is a must read. Park your skepticism at the curb and hang on for the ride. Who cares if it can’t possibly be true….it’s incredibly good.
I enjoyed reading it, like the others in the series
Loved the whole series.
I love this series. So very unique!
Jodi Taylor and her crew from St Mary’s is always an entertaining read. This group of time traveling misfits continue to bungle their way through history with great adventures had by all. Start at the beginning of the St. Mary’s adventures and read through the list with classic English whit, and downright fun for all.
St. Mary’s always delivers a fun time.
