Jason has returned home where Gwen is waiting but boy is she angry. Their story was unique and I really liked how they began again. I had previously read the book Mistletoe Magic with her sister Avery – really liked it too. It was great to catch up with previous characters. They both had wonderful friends and family. A romance with a real life story line.

The third book in the White Oak series a well written story that kept me turning pages. War veteran Jason McMillan meets Gwen Brookmyer, he thinks for the first time. Since he got brain damage in the war and has forgotten part of his past, and she is part of it. They will have a lot to overcome before they can be together. This story handled both his PSTD and his brain damage with care. I enjoyed reading this story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After four tours in the Middle East, Jason needs to decompress and get his head back together He takes off, and hikes the Appalachian Trail with a wounded vets group, gone for six months. Now it’s time to go home and make amends with his family, catch up with his friends, and make a new life. Gwen is a jewelry designer who moved to White Oak for a job opportunity. She lives with her mother and sister, and apparently her sister’s boyfriend, too. Jason and Gwen meet through mutual friends, and he’s interested in her. But she’s done with him – they’ve had two previous encounters, but he doesn’t remember her. I just love this book – my first read from this author. This was not smooth sailing for this couple – there are secrets and trust issues pulling them apart. But they also have wonderful friends pushing them back together.

This is another trip to White Oakes with Gwen and Jason. They meet just before he is deployed and spend the night together. When they next meet he does not remember her and she is crushed but what she does not know is he has suffered a brain injury which has affected his memory. This is a book with reminds us of some of the injuries our military suffer and they have to work through that in order to lead a normal life. This book has some strange characters along with the wonderful characters of Jason and Gwen.

This is the third book in the series and they really are better if read in order. I really enjoyed this one and thought it was a super addition to the series as with the previous books it was well written with a good interesting plot and had enough going on to keep me on the edge of my seat. I would definitely recommend this series.

This was a really lovely, heartwarming story. I was so glad to be brought back into the White Oak world again and see how all of the characters’ lives and relationships had developed. And see fun, lighthearted times for Jason, as he has had a rough road.
I loved the past puzzle pieces between Jason and Gwen come together. This allowed for good intrigue and an interesting weaving of past events with their current situation. Jason’s growth throughout this book made him an incredibly sympathetic and dynamic character. The development of his relationship with Gwen is deep and real, and flirty, and sexy.
I also loved getting to see Weasel as husband and protective father!
Jones does an exceptional job building out the town of White Oak. What an idyllic setting for these fun characters to live. Huntington Farms is so cozy and inviting, and a great backdrop for gatherings with their friend group. I really liked seeing more aspects of the town in this book, like Gwen’s store and where Avery works. It helped round out that environment and bring it to life.
There was also a great use of secondary characters, as usual. I was really interested in Avery and Nick. I liked seeing their relationship and seeing how Avery was able to provide deeper understanding of Gwen. Natalie was a great, colorful addition as well. I enjoyed everyone brought into this story and the rich layers they each added.
The ending was well developed and left me feeling happy and satisfied. There were a lot of thoughtful details that made this story very real and highlight a wonderful giving aspect found in a healthy, reciprocal relationship. This is a great read and addition to the White Oak series!

This is the first book I’ve read by Terri Jones and I wasn’t disappointed. Since, I hadn’t read the previous books in this series, I had some questions, but they were answered by the end of the book. Jason and Gwen first meet before he deploys and have a wonderful night together. He was wounded while serving his country and doesn’t remember her, the next time he sees her. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say this book has a bunch of wonderful characters. I can’t wait to read more books in this series and get to know more about White Oak, Tennessee.
