Kristen McKay and Tyler Kincaide have a past—one that has left her with a bone-deep animosity for him. And a secret. After seventeen years away, Tyler has returned to his hometown of Northridge, complicating Kristen’s life and dredging up conflicting emotions she’d rather not confront: the shame of that night so many years ago, coupled with the confounding and unwelcome physical attraction she … attraction she has for him; the desire to keep her secret, and the guilt over doing just that.
For his part, Tyler tries to renew his once-casual friendship with Kristen, but is greeted with open hostility for his efforts. He can’t understand why she feels about him the way he feels about Brussels sprouts and kale—intense loathing. What did he do that was so unforgivable? And what can he do to make her view him with less distaste than she would gum on the bottom of her shoe?
When they’re roped into working on a project together for the town’s Economic Development Council, there is no denying their chemistry. The heat between them grows into something more than sexual attraction, leaving Kristen no other alternative. She must confess her secret, even though she knows it will tear them apart. In an ironic twist, she finds she must seek forgiveness from the very man she swore never to forgive.

I wondered how she was going to match the first book, but I think Rebecca Heflin actually topped it! Kristen is a book and coffee shop owner in Northridge, Georgia who really wants them to film a movie in their small town. Local brewer, Tyler, agrees with her. When the town counsel asks them to do a presentation on why a movie would be good for the town, they realize that working together is going to require some adjustment. Tyler has a crush on Kristen, but for some unknown reason she hates him. Gotta say, I did see the why for that coming, but there are some great twists and turns in this story! Love this community! How am I going to survive until book three?!!?
The wonderfully written storyline and the well rounded characters kept me turning the pages until the very end! I look forward to reading more from this author!
Tyler moves back home from New York when priorities are shifted in his life. He remembers Kristen from high school, and can’t figure out why she doesn’t like him, but sets out to change that. As their relationship develops, he has a secret he’s keeping from her. Kristen has been mad at Tyler forever. It’s practically unbearable when he moves back to Northridge. They’re paired up to work on a project for the economic council, and she realizes he’s not such a bad guy after all. But she’s keeping a big secret from him, a much bigger secret than his. This is my first book from this author, and I’m so glad to have read this story. This is very much a tale of learning to let go – of secrets, of resentment, of feelings of not being good enough. Tyler and Kristen have a very real connection, and I very much enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. I love the special bond that she has with her son – he’s so talented, and wise beyond his years. I hope to see more book in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book I’ve read by Rebecca Heflin and I’m so glad I did. I’ve even purchased A Season to Dance, Olivia and Zach’s story, because I loved their characters so much. This is a small town story, one of my favorite genres. This story centers on Kristin and Tyler. Tyler left Northridge, Georgia after graduating high school. Now, Tyler’s back and Kristin and him are both business owners. When they’re the only two in favor of getting approved for movies to be made in town, they’re tasked with making a report of the pros and cons. How is Kristin going to work with a guy she hates? Why does she hate him so much? Secrets will be revealed and what secrets they are. Grab your copy and get ready to fall in love with the residents of this small Georgia town.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
A Season of Love, Seasons of Northridge Book 2, is by award winning author Rebecca Heflin. Set in Northridge, Georgia, outside of Atlanta, this is the story of Beans n’ Books coffee shop and bookstore owner Kristen McKay. Kristen’s life has been anything but easy. She grew up in poverty and everything she now has is of her own doing. She is a business owner, a part-time college student, and single mother to a 16 year old violin protege.
Tyler Kincaide was a hometown fellow who had left for Princeton 17 years prior and had only been home for visits until a year ago. He came home looking rough but has since restored his health, a home and started Firehouse Brews and its partner operation Firehouse Taproom.
Both Kristen and Tyler serve on the Northridge Economic Development Committee, Which is where Kristen’s and Tyler’s paths cross once again. As he seems to barely remember her and she can never forget the night that forever changed her life, her anger bubbles to the surface and she can barely be civil. When the two of them end up researching the impacts of Northridge being a location prospect for future filming in their town, they are thrown together in a way that otherwise would not have occurred. And it is in this time spent together when old information surfaces and secrets emerge that will either bring them together or drive them further apart.
This is a delightful story with endearing characters and themes. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!
