You simply can’t go wrong with Cora Seton. I’m excited to dive into her newest SEAL romance!
As with all of her SEAL’s of Base Camp, I loved this story about how Angus and Win made their way back to each other. There are so many secrets going on in the background as they try to figure out how to make this thing work between them, even with a backup bride in the mix. There was a lot of tongue in cheek humor, and that twist toward the end took me completely off-kilter.
I fall in love with each of these SEALs as their turn comes up, and I can’t even imagine the story the author has in mind for Walker and Avery. I just know it’s going to be just as good as this one and the others that have come before it.
What a great story in this captivating series! While Win’s parents take parenting to an all new low, Win and Angus struggle to be together while still playing by the rules. I’m just loving this series. I can’t wait to see what Cora Seton has cooked up for Avery and Walker in the next instalment!
The Seals of Chance Creek is such a great series!
We met Win and Angus a while back and Win left Angus and Base Camp. Angus was heartbroken and now he’s drawn the short stick and needs to get married within 40 days. To smooth over recent issues with viewers, Base Camp had to accept a woman as a potential love interest for Angus and he has to give her a shot with him for at least 30 days. Angus is willing to do this but before the potential Bride Leslie can arrive, Win appears and Angus is thrilled. It seems that she’s “carrying” a surprise for him. Although everything is not as it seems and the reasons why Win leave hurt but Angus is understanding and willing to move beyond. Nothing is easy.
Leslie isn’t letting Angus off the hook and is going to fight for her right to be his bride even though the love of his life is back. In addition, Win’s family isn’t happy that she returned and lets her know that there’s another ‘threat” against the family.
Will Angus be able to protect Win? Will Win win her man back or will Leslie force Angus’s hand? This is such a fun read with a few surprises and if there can be a replacement bride, can’t there be a replacement groom?!
Can’t wait to read the next book about Walker, Avery and this promise!
Don’t miss this heartfelt and emotionally satisfying romance from Cora Seton
I devoured this book. I think I finished it in one day because I got caught up in the story. That doesn’t always happen. It was a good read for me. I haven’t read the full series yet, but I’ve read enough that I’m piecing things together more.
There were some side characters that I just couldn’t quite believe would do such things, but after thinking about it, I’m thinking they would. There were others that I just wanted to smack upside the head and tell them to listen once in awhile. I did like how things worked out for them in the end, and I doubt it’s the last we’ll see of them. A good read that has some good characters.
Cora has done it again! Somehow even though this is book number 9 in the series (and I recommend reading the books in order), each book has a unique plot as each SEAL manages to find love while still fulfilling the rules set out for the reality show. This time it is Angus’ turn to marry and he has his heart set on Win who left him months ago. But now that she is back, things still aren’t easy for this couple. As much as I enjoyed reading about this couple, I must admit I am looking forward to Avery and Walker finally getting their story.
I have not read all the books in the series. I read the first and now these last three. I hated the Regency aspect (still do) but it seems to have been played down a lot more lately. It’s barely mentioned thank goodness. I think the author does a good job of recapping the important parts in the series so far so that you won’t feel lost if you haven’t read every book. I’m hooked now and will definitely check out the next and final? book in the series
Yoga Pants, Green Plants, and a Big Bump Add Up to Love
Did you ever open a new coloring book and wish the pictures were colored in—or hope for the chance to make those colors happen? Opening A Seal’s Struggle was like turning a new page in the coloring book and hoping to see how simply sketched characters would come to life.
Angus and Win’s second chance at love story is finally told in this next installment of the Chance Creek series. The novel stands on its own if you haven’t read the previous books. As minor characters in previous books, I didn’t really like Win and didn’t know much about Angus. The author deftly brought the main characters to life in color in the novel. Set on an organic self-sustainable ranch in Montana, the cast of characters includes 9 former Navy Seals who work to build a successful community within 12 months and allow a reality show to film their efforts in order to provide payment for the property. Angus is one of the former Seals. A huge caveat of the entire TV series, which is helping to fund the ranch, is that one former Seal must marry each month as their romance plays out on national TV.
Win met Angus months before the start of this novel and a love affair ensued after Win stayed at a BnB located on the property. Win stayed after that first weekend when she and Angus were drawn to each other. She unexpectedly leaves after several months but decides to return when it is Angus’s turn to get married. In the meantime, another love interest also shows up at the ranch.
The tension level was a 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. I felt the hero and heroine would end up together by the end, but a variety of obstacles got thrown in their way.
Loved this book. Angus and Win were one of my favorite couples because they seemed to have a single soul deep connection from the day they met.. For awhile I thought things were not going to work, especially with This one’s meddling. But this book kept you on the edge of your seat waiting to see who would win.
A group of retired navy Seals decide to build an environmentally sustainable community. To get the money necessary ,they accept to participate in a reality television show funded by Fulsom, an eccentric billionaire.. The men have to marry, within a year and produce at least three children . To decide whose turn it is to be married, they draw straws.
They share the land with a group of women who manage a Regency themed
B&B.
So, finally we learn why Win left Angus back at Base Camp.
Win’s family is EVIL! When she understands the extent of their evilness, she goes back to the man she loves. But, new rule, to appease the prospective brides, Angus has to date one of them for 30 days.
I liked this story an the way Win evolve as a character. Angus mother deserted him when he was a child, therefore he doesn’t trust Win resolve to stay and commit to him. But, of course, love prevails.
Sadly, there is only another story in this series, I can’t way to read it!!!
Another incredible addition to this series, full of drama and unexpected surprises!
Win Lisle finally realizes the mistake she made and returns to Base Camp in the hopes that Angus can forgive her, and she has a big surprise for him. Will he be able to forgive her for leaving the way she did? But trouble will follow her, and the producers of the reality shown continue to throw unbelievable obstacles in the way of the Base Camp team.
I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review
I have to say that this is my favorite.
I have loved Angus from the start. The connection he has with Win is off the charts but when she left, it left a hole in his heart. He agrees to spend 30 days getting to know Leslie. Sorry, but she was not one of my favorite characters.
Win is back and pregnant with his child. Can Angus and Win have their happily ever after or will others interfere?
Another winner by Cora Seton. Absolutely love her stories and recommend them to my friends all the time.
Angus and Win fell hard for one another. But, Win harbors some secrets and her parents manipulate her into leaving. Leslie, a backup Bride is given 30 days of dating the next ‘groom’ and she intends on claiming him. When Win reappears, things heat up between the two women and Angus! Revelations come out and some of the happenings are quite comical. A very engaging next installment of this story of sustainability, reality television, parental control over adult children with a little bit of politics thrown in good measure. I really enjoyed A Seal’s Struggle and read it into the wee hours of the morning because I wanted to see what happened next!
A SEAL’s Struggle review
The latest in the SEALs of Chance Creek is more or less a continuation of a side love story from a previous book.
Win and Angus fell in love at Base Camp. Everyone assumed they would marry and help the inhabitants reach another step on the goal to make a lasting sustainable community. But, then Win left saying she couldn’t give up her family’s money.
In Struggle, Win returns and tells the real reason for her departure plus brings a surprising twist. There is also an added twist with a back up bride being allowed on the show.
There are revelations and a lot of drama but everyone gets their HEA in the end.
A good continuation of the series.
I think I have found my favorite in this series. When Win left Base Camp, we were all shocked, and this book makes some sense of that, and it uncovers deep betrayals and traumas in her life – not least of which is getting the courage to come back to Angus, pregnant with his baby, only to find he’s required to romance one of the back-up brides for 30 days. And what a back-up bride this one is – with very few scruples and with Fulsom’s backing. And in with this are threads of Avery and Walker’s (very) rocky relationship and reconnections with the other couples. As always, the characters carry the story, along with their passion for sustainable living. Every page of this book is worth reading; enjoy it.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
DNF. I stopped reading at chapter five.
I haven’t read any of the prior books in this series. I picked it up because I generally like military heroes. I found this book to be bizarre.
Angus, a former SEAL, is part of a TV reality show. He and his fellow teammates are building a fully sustainable community out west. The show involves them wearing regency clothes, drawing straws to see who gets married in 30 days, and then producing a baby in a year.
Angus and his lady love, Win, have a good thing going. But then Win gets pulled into some family drama back in California. She leaves Angus, shortly after finding out she’s pregnant, and returns home without telling him about the baby. Months later, with more family drama brewing, Win returns to Angus and the reality show. Then there is something about Angus needing to fake date a “back-up bride” because of ratings and sponsors while a miserable and pregnant Win looks on. That is pretty much when I stopped reading. I just thought the whole plot was ridiculous.
I love Cora Seton’s romances but I really dislike having to skip pages to get past explicit sex scenes! Such content is not necessary and detracts from the good plot, the wonderful characters, and the great dialogue.
ARC for honest review with no compensation
A Seal’s Struggle is book 9 in the SEAL’s of Chance Creek by Cora Seton.
Up next to marry in the reality show Base Camp is former Navy Seal Angus McBride, who lost the woman he wanted to marry when she abruptly left the community over five months ago. Now after drawing the short straw, his heart still wants Win but he has to marry a backup bride in ordering for the group to not lose everything. He has 30 days to spend time with the backup bride, Leslie and find a way to forget Win if he doesn’t want to let his friends down and they lose the camp…except Win Lisle comes back to camp with a surprise no one is expecting…what happens next is anyone’s guess…..
Suspense, drama, twists, turns, family lies, deceit and love will keep you reading to find out what happens next… Will Angus marry the back up bride, Leslie and keep the camp and reality show moving forward? Will he and Win find their HEA and lose everything or does Leslie step down?
Can’t wait for Walker and Avery’s story next…
Wow! Cora Seton, you continue to blow me away with your ongoing saga of Chance Creek. As we get down to the wire, with only two remaining “bachelors” left, things are certainly getting heated! Not only has Win re-entered the picture, but we also get to meet a couple of new characters, who you have so graciously introduced to us. But all is not simple with Win and Angus, as many questions need to be answered, secrets to be told, “backups” need to be addressed, never mind unexpected cousins and fears to be conquered. Grab your tea and snacks and be prepared to curl up and not move until this book is done, because you won’t want to put it down once you start. Perfectly paced and full of action, suspense and love, book 9 will capture your heart once again. I absolutely LOVED it! I am so looking forward to Avery and Walkers tale, of which I truly hope they manage to make it work.
I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.
