The story is absorbing, and the action throughout becomes more and more mesmerizing.
The culmination of the meeting of the society of Westfield with mob mentality is striking and all too real.
The main characters are relatable and honest. Despite the challenges they meet, their love is touching and rewarding.
The secondary characters are well crafted and there is a myriad of side plots and stories.
Having read all of the books in this series so far, I am amazed at how Cora Seton continues coming up with different plots that immediately pull me in. One would think with the basis of this “reality show,” former military men trying to create a sustainable community forced to marry women living in a Jane Austin world would be incredibly bizarre. Well perhaps it is but it totally works! According to the rules set out by the show there must be a marriage every 40 days or the show ends and the men lose their land. In the last book it looked as though the wedding was happening so the men elected to bring in a back-up bride. However, the wedding did happen and now they need to tell the back-up bride-to-be that stranger she thought she was marrying is being replaced by another stranger. But then when a third guy shows up Samantha has no idea what she has gotten herself into. Suddenly Samantha finds herself in the middle of a love triangle, wearing Regency period clothing and dealing with her own weird family drama.
I found it entertaining that as much as the producers have created drama to get ratings, the people at Base Camp provide even more drama than the producers. This was a great entry in the series and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Especially since the next potential groom is Jericho and we know that Savannah as been hiding secrets from all of the members of Base Camp.
Book 3 of the Seals of Chance Creek is Harris and Sam’s story … and oh, is it hot. Reality TV continues to mess with people and twist stories. Curtis has his own reasons. One Yellow dog has her own reasons …. and owe, the twist of her family. Again, I really enjoy this series, Now looking forward to book 4.
Samantha is tired, she drives the bus and keeps the family on schedule for their tours but she wants something for her. When she sees the Base Camp add for a backup bride, she jumps at the chance. A backup bride for Curtis would be a great way to have everything she wants. Marriage, children and a home that doesn’t move.
When Harris wakes up the morning after Clay and Nora’s wedding the entire camp is sleeping. He knows Curtis’ backup bride is arriving today so he takes it upon himself to pick her up at the airport. He didn’t expect to fall hard and fast for her but he did, and he wasn’t taking any chances.
Samantha doesn’t realize that Harris isn’t a backup for Curtis so she goes along with everything. Getting a marriage license, the wedding in a small chapel a town away from Chance Creek and a celebration picnic with an awesome view.
Then they returned to Base Camp and everything hits the fan! From Renata to Curtis, no one is happy about this turn of events.
The decision from the top, doesn’t make anything better. Fulsom is going to have the marriage annulled and Samantha has to date both men and give her decision in thirty days. Oh and no hanky-panky.
Of course none of this is going to be pleasant, least of all when Samantha’s parents, sister and the crew show up with protesters.
From the initial defiance of the rules, to the controversy, to some hold your breath scenes this book is filled with tension, jealousy, romance, family drama and so much more.
It is definitely one of my favorites in this series.
The best yet! Samantha a life long band roadie. and Harris, better known as Hawk the sniper, take one look at each other with explosive results. But nothing is ever that easy, is it?! (Rated R)
The entire series has been fun to read. Each novel is it’s own story while maintaining the story of Chance Creek. I can’t wait for each novel to become available and always order them when they become available on Pre-Order status. I’m going to hate to see it end.
It’s a great book and I would highly recommend the entire series.
What a wonderful story. One of the things I like about the series is the ecological aspect. This as with many platforms there are those who will disagree if not about the concept, then about how the it is being realized. Then of course are those who are out because they like the rush of protesting anything and the possibility of it turning violent. This is clearly played out here.
Loved it! Can’t wait to read more!
Love this whole series.
