Cora Seton does what Cora does best in A SEAL’s Oath — put together two very different characters and tell a swoonworthy story of how they fall in love. I love that Boone gets in a predicament like this — a nod to Regency books but set in the modern era. It’s fun. It’s escape. And with Cora, you’re always in good hands.
Could not finish
I normally like Cora Seton’s work, but this book was a struggle for me. I thought It was a DNF, so I picked up the audio book through Hoopla. The narration decent, but for me, it was the story that held no interest. It makes me hesitant to try any of the others in the series.
Boone and Riley didn’t have any chemistry, at least not to me. On top of that, the Regency aspect was ridiculous. These 4 adult woman were willing to BURN their clothes?!!!
I could even handle the whole sustainable community idea, but the rest was too much. That included The reality tv deal. (But, I really don’t like reality tv, so that might have something to do with my reaction to it.). The town’s opinion of the Regency idea was too much. The story dragged on and on.
My recommendation would be for you to read and judge for yourself. Every book is not for every reader.
I made it through the first chapter then realized that the story line too far fetched to be believed. It would be a spoiler alert to say any more.
Nothing. Terrible
had a good story line, did not need all the sex!
An old fashion write – boring, slow, unrealistic, and an overall disappointment!
If you don’t drink the “Climate Change” Kool Aid this book won’t be for you. I have read other Cora Seton books and really enjoyed her story development and characters. Within the first chapter of this book, however, I can see that I’m going to be beat over the head with the “issue” of Climate Change. So I’ll take a skip on this one and look forward to some other story in the future.
It is a very different outlook on present and past coming together in a life form.
great page turner!
Terrific
I loved the whole story. And it’s wonderful how both of the main characters where trying to get away from the rat race but where doing in different ways. I look forward to reading more of this series.
I loved this book because of the story line and how the characters developed.
I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
Love all the Seal Books
It’s a great book also with a great characters.
Good book wanted to read rest of series but were not free. Can only read free or kindle unlimited free books. It wasn’t.
Love Cora’s books that are related to the military! All Cora’s books are awesome!
Excellent
Cora Seton is a wonderful story teller, I have enjoyed everyone of her books
I jump at the chance to read one of Ms Seton’s books and naturally nabbed this one without giving it a second thought, other then; Oh good, nabbed another book to curl up with and get lost in adventure/ romance. This one left me disappointed and frustrated that I almost didn’t finish it, but I did, in hope it got better and satisfying ending…it didn’t. However, it was loaded with enough storylines to start a book series, That is, if the subject of this book about Navy Seals building sustainable living community, while being filmed for a reality tv show, along with women wanting to escape into the life of Jane Austin Regency living interest you, then this series is for you.
Needless to say this story took me into a direction I least expected with it mixed with a Navy Seal leaving the military, going back home to the ranch he worked on as a youth, and hopefully getting the ranch if he could pull off a sustainable living community, while it’s being promoted on a reality tv show. He’s given 6 months to get this all together during the show with him and other men married and with at least 3 expecting a child. Naturally there’s a snag, like the girl he left behind, came back to her grand-parents ranch, not knowing it was sold to someone else, along with 4 other girls with her to live a Jane Austin Regency life.
There was a lot crammed into this story giving it a overloaded storyline that didn’t make it relaxing or entertaining and IMO, unjust to the subject of sustainable life off the grid.
