A SEAL’s Devotion is the 7th book in the SEALs of Chance Creek series. Anders Olsen is one of nine former Navy SEALs who are working together to build a model sustainable community while being filmed for a reality show called Base Camp. Unlike the other men in the community, Anders has a secret. One he doesn’t want any of his friends finding out about.
Evelyn Wright is an environmentalist who wants to make the world a better place. When she discovers a powerful oil company is contaminating local drinking water she’s determined to do something about and decides the reality show Base Camp is the perfect place to tell the world. After concocting a story about being left by the side of the road by her boyfriend, she’s invited to join the community.
But when the CEO of the oil company discovers what she’s up to, he’ll do anything to stop her.
A SEAL’s devotion is the first in this series I have read. I found the book to be a mix of interesting characters that compliment each. There was a nice balance between the romance and the action including a little unexpected twist near the end. And I found the heat level to be just right.
And Anders has his story at last. The quiet SEAL has been a presence from the start, and I’m sure I wasn’t the only reader that was pleased he drew the short straw last time. Although Boone has a backup bride lined up, Eve crashes Base Camp. Pretending to be running from an abusive boyfriend, she is actually there for the publicity she’ll get, and she wants to use it to expose Hansen Oil as environmentally toxic. Meanwhile, delightful man that he is, Folsom has brought another director to the camp, a leering, lecherous man that’s trying to put Renata off her stride and who wants sex and scandal from the Base Camp residents. The book has twists and turns, the characters have more to hide than they had ever considered sharing, and, as always, it’s a dip back into the lives of the couples that have already married.
Enjoying the series.
In every one of these books there has been a struggle for the two main characters to overcome before they marry.
In this book there is far more than just a struggle, it’s a matter of secrets, lies and another twist by Fulsom, the addition of another director, Clem…who’s without a sense of anything but the sensational.
Anders is the one who needs to find a bride, and the prospects aren’t all that good. Plus Clem and Fulsom want a spectacular courtship and wedding.
Now Eve has to find a way to get the word out about Hansen Oil’s environmental problems. There are some interesting discussions as her friend Melissa helps plot to get her on Base Camp. What better venue to expose the major oil company.
It’s risky but sure to work, walking in the bitter cold without a coat or adequate shoes, she’s lucky she didn’t get frostbite before Anders sees her.
Now one of the biggest secrets comes to light as Johannes Hansen pays a visit to Base Camp.
Plenty of suspense as Anders and Eve fall for each other in spite of all the things they’re hiding. Top it off with family drama on both sides and some sizzle to boot.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Great series, great book. But dog gone it! Too much gratuitous sex at the end. Those scenes just aren’t needed!
I’ve read every book so fare and can’t wait for the next o e.
Love this series. Predictable, but still enjoyable
Love the series. Yes, a bit far-fetched, still entertaining!
It was one of the best have read. I love all of Cora’s books. Just wish there were more.
I really enjoy all of the seal books. I have never found one I didn’t enjoy. Great reads
I love everything by Cora Seton! This was a great addition to the Base Camp storyline. Can’t wait to see what happens with Greg!
LOVE this series
I think that this book is for all boys that love romance. Especially me. I love a good romance book and this is perfect for my late nights in the bathtub. It makes me picture my future with my girlfriend.
The “Base Camp” series has a new hunk to swoon over! His romance with an environmentalist, who wants to expose his father’s corporation’s dirty secret on the show that has caught the national attention with it’s own environmentall message.
This might be one of my favorites of the series. Anders Olsen wants so much to be a part of the Base Camp community not only because he believes he can make a real difference but also because he comes from a sordid past that, if word got out, could ruin his standing in the sustainable community. But, he’s been devoted to the ideas from the beginning. loves caring for the herd of buffalo, and feels at home in the wide open spaces of the ranch. And, while some are opposed to the marriage and baby stipulation of the contract for the Base Camp reality television show, it’s something he truly wants. Only he wants it with the right woman, someone who can love him and whom he can love.
Enter Eve Wright, a beautiful woman who appears at Base Camp under unusual circumstances. She’s discovered something at her work, and she doesn’t feel like she can keep it under wraps. She’s always had a crush on Anders Olsen since Base Camp began airing several months ago. But when she shows up at the camp in less than favorable circumstances, will the information she carries ruin a budding relationship with the one man she finds herself falling for? Is it possible this information could bring down Base Camp and put everyone in danger?
I’ve wanted to see Anders Olsen get his chance from the moment we meet him earlier in the series. He just seems like such a nice, down to earth guy with a past he’d rather not deal with. And, it was exciting to see him finally have his chance at the life he truly wanted. This author has such a way of writing characters who I immediately want to befriend. I want to see them find their happily-ever-afters, and even with the twisted roads that take each of them there, I find myself full of hope for exactly that.
ARC for honest review with no compensation
Seal’s Devotion is book 7 in the SEALs of Chance Creek by Cora Seton and another great addition.
Anders Olsen is up next, the quiet one, has secrets that not one person knows about..but wants to find his bride on his own..little does he know that his bride comes with plenty of secrets of her own that could bring him and Base Camp down.
Eve Wright has watched Base Camp since the beginning and has a crush on Anders and being an environmentalist she needs to find a way to expose Hansen Oil for toxic spills and what better way then to go on national TV and spill…
Lies, secrets, tensions, twist, turns, see old friends and discovering the truth will this leave Anders and Eve with a HEA or completely destroy Base Camp??
This series always is inspirational and this edition shares the best of the community’s development.
Cora Seton doesn’t disappoint with the newest book in the series. There is, of course, the romantic aspect but this time there are lots of subterfuge, twists, and turns. I loved the characters and how they developed. I highly recommend this book!
This is the seventh book in this fun series, SEALs of Chance Creek. Nine SEALs got together to create a sustainable community. It’s being funded by a crazy billionaire and being filmed as a TV series, Base Camp. In this TV series, there are rules in order to keep the game going. The biggest one is that every 40 days a new SEAL must get married or everyone loses this land and community that they’ve been working to build.
Anders Olsen recently picked the “short” stick and it’s his turn to get married. While he would love to get married he realizes that he has no prospects and is in a bind.
Eve Wright wants to change the world and was working oversees to help people when an accident sent her home. Now she’s stuck living with her parents who aren’t happy with her current choices – no college degree, no husband/boyfriend, no real job and mounting debt due to the accident. Her parents offer her a deal but she has to “grow up”. Then, Eve stumbles across some information regarding one of her firm’s clients and some environmentally damaging things. When she confronts her boss, he shuts her up. Eve decides the only way to expose what this company is doing is to announce it on a grand scale, like TV and more specifically Base Camp.
Getting onto Base Camp was easy, but now she has to continue her lies and she falls for Anders. But, Anders has been hiding a huge secret that no one at Base Camp knows about. Eve has her huge secret as to why she’s really there. While these obstacles be too big for them to overcome or just want they need to move forward and make changes in the world. I love this fun series! These two didn’t disappoint although I must say I’m definitely intrigued about Renata and of course, Walker!
Every one of Cora Seaton’s books is amazing.
A SEAL’s Devotion was just as awesome as every other book she has written.
It was wonderful to visit Chance Creek again and during winter to boot gotta love a romance in the snow.
Anders and Eve, what a couple, their story was full of lies, secrets, and subterfuge but in the proved love, at first sight, can actually happen and forever can be found even when you think the odds are against you.
