When an American tourist is murdered with a scone in Gemma Rose’s quaint Oxfordshire tearoom, she suddenly finds herself apron-deep in a mystery involving long-buried secrets from Oxford’s past.Armed with her insider knowledge of the University and with the help of four nosy old ladies from the village (not to mention a cheeky little tabby cat named Muesli), Gemma sets out to solve the … mystery–all while dealing with her matchmaking mother and the return of her old college love, Devlin O’Connor, now a dashing CID detective.
But with the body count rising and her business going bust, can Gemma find the killer before things turn to custard?

I enjoyed the story line, the buildup of the characters for a series, and the visualization. I was pleasantly surprised with the suspense and the author’s ability to draw the reader in “to feel the story”.
Twists & turns was exciting to read.
Very fun book to read! I did enjoy it!
I like easy-to-read, interesting and good writing, without being bloody or scary. This book had all of those.
Very fun book to read.
Easy Reading. Didn’t identify the killer.
I liked this book.
Wish it didn’t have a cliff hanger, but still well written.
This book was so good that I went onto Amazon and bought four more, then read them like I was eating popcorn, one right after the other! I can heartily recommend this series, it is well written and has great characters!
Great book! Gemma, the protagonist, has come home to England to run the tea shop her grandmother left her. When a rather “bossy” American turns up dead in the garden area with a scone stuffed in his mouth, the plot becomes sweet as well as savory!
Really enjoyed this suspense story. So many possibilities – and the characters seemed real and down to earth. The end was not seen coming. Wow!
Enjoyed it and I am enjoying other books in the same series
Good Characters, nice use of location.
Very low key, the opposite of steamy.
The author’s writing style is easy to read without being boring. The story is cute, and somewhat predictable but still entertaining.
Great read. You don’t want to put it down.
Enjoyed the characters and storyline!
Good for light reading.
This book was too predictable for my tastes, but it is a very easy read.
Didn’t hold my interest. Stopped reading by the 3rd chapter
