Looks can be deceiving, the same is true for reputations As the head of his family, Robert Beckford, the Earl of Masten, was accustomed to dealing with various problems his siblings had caused of one sort or another. However he wasn’t prepared when his cad of brother ruined and then abandoned a young lady. To right the wrong, Robert married the girl himself; but his chivalry only went so far. He … He didn’t want a wife, and most certainly not a scandalous one. So after repeating his vows, he sent her packing, off to a secluded estate and expected her to stay put. After years of mistreatment at the hands of her family, Lydia was prepared to be an accommodating wife; but her rigid and unforgiving husband asked too much of her. After languishing for years in her opulent prison, Lydia leaves her country estate for the glamour and excitement of London—and unfortunately her husband’s path.

I wish I could give a review but I did not get all of the book. I just received the first chapter 🙁
Fun read. Unique idea for story and interesting characters. Definitely not a deep read. Fluff, easy and relaxing reading.
It was a rather predictable period romance with a fun twist or two. Enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters, thought could do with less sex, or at least less time spent talking about it! In my opinion, a great romance writer can create a mood and engage the imagination without having to get too graphic or explicit. Overall, tho, I did enjoy the storyline.
Its worth a read. Easy to read and pass time. Good author
A relaxing and enjoyable book. Highly recommend.
Charming book with a feisty heroine. Light read that will leave the reader smiling.
I really enjoyed this story and the side characters were engaging also, which really makes a story enjoyable for me
The book had it’s twists and turns in the relationship which is usual for this type of book. Having said that I did enjoy reading it and looked forward to the new twist in the relationship. Would recommend this book to other readers.
Good fast read.
Very enjoyable read.
boring
Enjoyed reading charming romance
Enjoyed it !
Easy and fun
This book was excellent. I was very disappointed in the sequel, however. The author used to many excerpts from the first book which made me want to skip large portions of the book since they were verbatim from the first book.
I enjoyed the development of the characters’ relationship to one another. Although some of the plot was unrealistic, it did add to the story. I don’t read romance novels for real life scenarios, but for escapism and this one was fast paced and entertaining.
Predictable.
Loved reading about the social mores of he early 1800s in England.
so typical and dull i can’t even summon the energy to bother reporting on it.
Awful
